Chapter 726 All She Could Do Was Respect Him
Stella was also very happy.
He sat back in the wheelchair and Stella pushed him back to the ward.
The door creaked loudly when she pushed the door open. This caused Sandro to flip over in the bed and start wailing.
Worried, Stella patted Sandro back to sleep. When she turned back to help Jasper in, she saw that he had already gotten into bed on his own.
Jasper was always like that. He preferred to carry all the responsibility on his own shoulders instead of sharing it with someone else.
Stella climbed into bed with him.
His bed was only 1. 5 by 2 meters wide.
Curling up in his arms, her heart was full.
It was the first day since he woke up, but it felt as though he had never left.
Now that she felt more at peace and also tired from the fatigue of the entire day, Stella fell asleep soon after she closed her eyes.
However, not long after she fell asleep, she heard Sandro crying, so she immediately woke up.
Jasper’s eyes flew open at the same time and he saw Stella picking up Sandro.
Sandro continued to cry even after he was picked up. Stella thought he had probably wet his diapers, so she quickly changed it for him. Then, she made some milk for him.
Sandro stopped crying the moment he saw the milk bottle. Grabbing the milk bottle, he suckled on it immediately.
Stella glanced at the time and realized they had only slept for half an hour. She flashed an apologetic look to Jasper. “I’m sorry, I disturbed your sleep.”
Jasper shook his head and got up from the bed.
Seeing this, she quickly ran over to help him.
Once Jasper was in his wheelchair, he made a gesture indicating he wanted the phone.
Stella understood and immediately handed the phone to Jasper.
“I’ve been asleep for a year and a half, I don’t want to sleep any longer. I’m going to do more physio, I’ll be back in an hour.”
“I’ll push you there,” Stella offered.
“Just look after Sandro,” Jasper typed before returning the phone to Stella.
As Stella looked at that stubborn man, she remembered a soldier in his squad who broke both his legs.
Soldiers were mostly independent and steadfast, their willpower was ten times more than the average human being.
All she could do was respecting his decision.
There was a knock on the door.
“Come in.”
Skye came in and said, “Mrs. Milton, Mr. President has ordered us to restructure the ward.”
“Hmm?” For a moment, Stella didn’t understand Bellamy’s intentions.
“Mr. President said that since Mr. Milton has woken up, there’s no need for him to sleep alone,” Skye informed her happily.
Stella had to give it to Bellamy for his thoughtfulness.
“Where is he now?”
“He left when you went for physio. He said that he didn’t want to bother you,” Skye said.
Stella was touched by his gesture.
Bellamy was a good brother. Ever since he appeared in their lives, he had always given everything up for them.
However, she realized that she was somewhat heartless. He had protected both her and Jasper, yet all she cared about was their own little world.
She couldn’t help feeling that she owed Bellamy a lot.
It was just like when one quarreled with their family members. Clearly, the other party was at fault and you might end up saying words that might hurt them. On the surface, it might look like you’ve won, but somehow, you would feel guilty inside.
In fact, the one who lost could just accept it outrightly. It wouldn’t be a big deal to feel a little aggrieved as all you needed to do was improve yourself. Guilt, however, was a new level of discomfort.
Stella dialed Bellamy’s number on her phone.
Bellamy answered the call and asked with a smile, “Are they done restructuring the room?”
The way he spoke was very relaxed as though he had forgotten that she had rejected his feelings a while back. He was truly a good brother.
Stella felt a sharp pain pierce through her heart, and her voice softened. “What did you want me to help you with?”
Bellamy chuckled aloud. “Just help me take good care of my brother and my nephew.”
The more he behaved like this, the more guilty she felt. She phrased the question in another way, “What’s troubling you?”
“Everything’s a mess. The more power you have, the more responsibilities you have too. The higher the position you hold, the more work you have to complete. Not only that, but your work becomes more complicated too.
I do regret all this a little. If Sean was still the President, without the affair, he would’ve done a better job. But there are too many people relying on me, so I can’t back down now.
All I want to do in my term is to serve the country and my citizens. I do not want to waste my time as President,” Bellamy said and laughed.
Stella’s heart ached even more. She didn’t want anything to happen to Bellamy.
“I know this guy called Master Olgic. He’s very good in fortune-telling,” Stella suggested.
“I believe that my fate is in my own hands. Okay, I’m at the President’s Mansion now. Take care of Jasper. Although he’s awake, he still needs some time to recuperate.”
“Beware of Anthony. If it’s possible, you should have him in your grasp. Otherwise, he’s going to be the next Christian Saltzman,” Stella warned.
Bellamy was shocked and he asked, “Did you already know what he did?”
“I don’t, but I know the word ‘loyalty’ doesn’t exist in his vocabulary. All he cares about is power. He betrayed Jasper last time, maybe he’ll betray you the next time if he has a shot at a higher position,” Stella said coldly.
“Zoah has already retired this year, and Quinn has been brought to justice. We’re having the election for the Vice President next week. Anthony came to look for me saying that he wanted to be the Deputy Commander, so I’ve been cracking my head about this,” Bellamy’s voice lowered as he said.
“There’s nothing to think about, the answer is right in front of you. Anthony’s strength is in the military. If he becomes the Deputy Commander, you will benefit as long as you have power over him,” Stella deduced.
“That’s what I thought at first. That’s why I asked for your help. After all, Jasper used to manage the military division,” Bellamy told her his thoughts.
Stella finally understood what he was getting at. “Jasper hasn’t recovered yet, and I don’t know if there’ll be any side effects. Managing the military requires a lot of time and energy, plus the both of you are twins. I don’t think that it’ll reflect well if the both of you are running the important sectors of the country. Actually, I have someone to recommend.”NôvelDrama.Org owns © this.
“Who?”
“Simon Davis. He was practically born into the special forces. Although he is Zoah’s son, he’s a good man, nor is he greedy for power. Most importantly, he has good management skills, and he knows how to run things well,” Stella suggested.
“But he’s currently Chief of the Air Force Department. If we ask him to manage the Special Forces division, won’t we be giving him too much power?” Bellamy was worried, so he had to weigh the pros and cons ahead of time.
“This is something you have to settle immediately. Zoah was the former Vice President, so if you pick his son to take over Anthony’s military division, you’d have a reasonable explanation for Anthony. You wouldn’t need to contradict yourself. As for the Air Force Department, you could just pick one of your men to take over if you don’t want to give Simon that much power. I’m sure you know more about that than me,” Stella proposed.
“Fine, I’ll do as you say. Oh, there’s another guy, Frederick Addington. What do you think about me appointing him a position?” Bellamy asked for her opinion.
The last memory she had of Frederick flashed across her mind.
He said that he loved her, and she believed him…
