Chapter 412
Malvina's heart skipped a beat!
Could it be something wrong with the baby because of her health, and Noella was too scared to tell her?
Was that why she was whispering to Ulrich here?
"Ulrich, you need to take extra good care of Malvina these next few days. She's running a fever and can't take any medication, so be extra cautious."
"I know, Noella... I was practically out of my mind with worry when I saw Malvina had a fever. I thought something had happened to her and the baby.
I even started thinking about how I'd explain to Malvina if we lost the baby!"
"Thankfully, both she and the baby are fine!"
Noella, hearing a breath behind the door, guessed it was probably Malvina.
She raised an eyebrow and asked, "In your heart, Ulrich, who is more important, Malvina or the baby?"
Though it seemed like a trivial question, Noella knew Malvina would care about the answer!
Ulrich paused, then chuckled softly.
"To be honest, I never thought we'd have a baby, but the idea of having a little one that resembles her makes me incredibly happy!"
"Of course, she's more important. Even if we have a baby, the baby is important because it's hers. That's what makes the baby important!"
"In essence, she's the reason the baby matters!"
"Babies are important, but it's because they are hers that they matter!"
"Actually, at this stage, a baby isn't really considered a 'person' in a societal or existential sense, just a cluster of cells. I don't have much tangible feeling about this, but as a mother, you might feel the existence of the baby more profoundly."
"I'm just really happy and feel so blessed that I'm getting married to Malvina!"
Noella, seeing Ulrich in this light, also felt the unnameable joy and happiness radiating from him!
For Ulrich, the real excitement came from Malvina being pregnant and the prospect of welcoming a lovely baby into the world, soon to be celebrated in marriage!
Standing outside the door, Malvina gently pushed it open.
"Are you guys here?"
Ulrich immediately went to her, lifting her into his arms.
"Why did you come out? Couldn't find me? Next time, just ring the bell, and I'll be right there! Let's get you back to rest now!"
Malvina, wrapping her arms around Ulrich's neck, whispered softly.
"I'm not a patient... Noella sweetheart is watching!"Content protected by Nôv/el(D)rama.Org.
"It's alright, Noella's family! Noella, Palmer said he'll be here any minute, Malvina and I will head off first!"
Noella, amused, waved her hand, "Sure, got it."
Leaning on Ulrich, Malvina mumbled, "I'm really scared of getting married, afraid it'll be like my dad..."
"I know. If you're that scared, we don't have to get married. I can talk to my parents about it."
Even at this moment, Ulrich didn't want Malvina to feel pressured.
"You don't understand! I really do want to marry you."
"When you proposed last time, I almost said yes. Later, avoiding you, I was worried I couldn't resist asking when we'd get married, which would be embarrassing."
Ulrich had thought Malvina regretted agreeing to date him!
But it was because of this!
Malvina nervously traced circles on Ulrich's coat.
"Dr. Schnabel, when you confessed to me, I was so happy! But I'm worried you won't be able to tolerate my difficult personality..."
Malvina, with her personality, only felt unworthy in front of someone she genuinely liked!
After placing her on the bed, Ulrich leaned close to Malvina's face, whispering, "I understand. Your eyes never lie to me."
No matter what was said, the eyes never deceive.
Every time Malvina looked at him, her eyes were tender and gentle, like a serene pond, soft and inviting, making him unable to resist indulging in them.
"I know you like me, Malvina."
Someone as perceptive as him could easily tell whether the girl he liked, liked him back!
Because he was sure of Malvina's feelings, Ulrich could embrace everything about her!
Malvina hugged Ulrich's face and kissed him.
"It's love, Dr. Schnabel!"
Ulrich's smile deepened.
...
In the emergency exit, Noella was about to leave when she heard voices coming from upstairs.
The door to the emergency exit closed with a loud bang.
Oriana looked at Myra Whitaker in frustration and said, "Myra, don't you like Mr. Pollack? Then you should expose Noella's true colors to him!"
"That woman is up to no good. Do you really want to see the Pollack family deceived by her?"
Myra frowned and replied, "Oriana, do you think I'm a fool?"
"What do you mean by that?"
"Do you not understand what kind of family the Pollack family is? Or are you pretending not to know? If the Pollack family is choosing a bride you can bet they've vetted her ancestors back eighteen
generations. Do you really
the
Pollack family is less informed than you?"
Myra's gaze at Oriana shifted.
"You can think of me as a fool if you want! We've known each other for years, and I don't want things to get ugly, but it's best if you leave and don't come looking for me again!"
Oriana hadn't expected Myra to see through her lies so quickly!
Myra was fed up.
Ever since Oriana started gossiping, Myra felt something was off.
She even went to Helen to badmouth Noella, only to be sternly rebuked by Helen's gaze, almost unable to lift her head in shame!
She was nearly sent packing back home.
Helen, pointing towards the Pollack family estate, spoke earnestly.
"Do you really think the owner of this estate is a fool? Even someone like you, who came home with Alastair has been thoroughly investigated Better wise up about who your friends are, or don't blame me for not being nice."
The Pollack family being a bunch of fools? Impossible!
How could Palmer, such an outstanding guy, fall for a woman of questionable repute?
After giving it some thought, Myra realized she had been played by Oriana!
Watching Myra turn on her heel without a second glance, Oriana was seething with rage.
She grabbed Myra's arm, "Myra, wait... don't go."
Myra instinctively tried to shake her off. In the struggle, Oriana slapped Myra on the back, sending her tumbling down the stairs!
Screams echoed.
Seeing Myra lying unconscious and bleeding at the bottom, Oriana dusted off her hands with a sense of satisfaction and quickly made her escape.
At the bottom of the stairs, Noella turned to Mizar and said, "Go help her."
"Boss, that lady was always causing trouble for you before."
"She's also a die-hard fan of Azure. Guess that makes her a fan of mine."
Hearing this, Mizar couldn't help but chuckle.
He walked over, picked up Myra, and
with a shake of his head and a chuckle, said, "Wonder what she'll think when she finds out that her despised rival, Ms. Schnabel, and her admired idol, Azure, are one and the same."
Noella calmly stated, "Look into that Oriana. There might be something off about her!"
