The True Lady Strikes Back novel (Cecilia and Christopher)

Chapter 208

Chapter 208

No one wanted Charlie alive more than Evan.

“Ceci, it’s too slow to send it by courier. Ask someone from the Shaw family to drive and send the hair

now.”

At first, Evan wanted Cecilia to send it by plane, but he remembered that there was no flight for today

anymore, so he asked Cecilia to send it by

car.

Cecilia intended to do the same. She wanted to know the result as soon as possible.

“Okay, I’ll have someone send you the document right away. The hair is in it. If Grandma Elaine asks,

don’t let it slip.”

“Don’t worry. I know what Charlie means to Grandma Elaine, and I won’t let her know until I get a

definite result.”

Then he asked, “Ceci, how did you meet Charlie? How did you recognize him? How has he changed

over the years? Why doesn’t he go home? What did you talk about? Does he have anything to do with

the mastermind?”

Evan had so many questions. He wanted to know everything about Charlie.

Cecilia did not lie to him. She told him the whole process of meeting and chatting with Charlie.

“Evan, I’ve told you everything. If the DNA test result confirms that he is Charlie, do you think I can trust

him?”

She hoped that Charlie would be trustworthy, which would help to break up the organization called Wolf

Killer.

Evan wanted to trust Charlie, but his identity did not allow him to be emotional.

“Ceci, we can’t do things based on our feelings. We should speak with facts and remain skeptical

about everything until we are sure where Charlie stands.”

“Evan, I know what to do.”

“Ceci, you may be Charlie’s target. Don’t get confused by Christopher’s poisoning and fall into the

trap.”

Cecilia was a calm person. Christopher was her weakness, but he would.

not be used as leverage to control her.

I got it, Evan. That’s all for now. I’ll find someone to send you the document.”

Evan replied. “If you send it now, we will know the result by tomorrow morning.

After Cecilia hung up the phone, she printed out a decent document, put Charlie’s hair in it, and handed

it to Bruce.

“Bruce, have someone send this document to Evan in Quilton as soon as possible.” NôvelDrama.Org owns this.

Bruce respectfully took the sealed kraft envelope and nodded. “Ms. Yancey, don’t worry. I’ll contact the

helicopter right away.”

Cecilia remained silent.

“Bruce, is it a good idea to use a helicopter? Just send it by car. It won’t take much longer.

The Shaw family did not own a helicopter. If they wanted to use it, they had to apply to the military.

With the status of the Shaw family, it was easy to get approval. However, they were afraid that

someone would smear them for using the helicopter for private purposes.

Bruce explained, “Ms. Yancey, don’t worry. The military has a helicopter. The Shaw family can use it

first, and it has been specially approved by the commanding officer.”

Almost all of the Shaw family members who joined the military had died for the country, so they had

privileges that the others did not have.

Cecilia did not pay much attention to it until today.

She nodded and said, “Bruce, I’ll tell Grandma Elaine about this. Arrange it quickly. Evan urgently

needs it.”

“Yes, Ms. Yancey!”

Bruce quickly left with the document, and Cecilia went into the living

room.

As expected, Elaine had not rested

yet.

She was wearing reading glasses and looking at an old photo album in her hand.

Elaine looked up as she heard footsteps.

When she saw that it was Cecília, she closed the photo album and asked in surprise, “Ceci, are you

done so soon? Is Christopher’s poison casy to detoxify?”

Elaine asked that way because she was aware of Cecilia’s expertise in traditional medicine and her

strong medical skills.

“I haven’t finished reading the toxicology report. I just got a call from Evan asking for a document. I

have asked Bruce to send it by helicopter to Quilton. I came here to tell you about this.”

Even though Elaine was an elderly woman, she was not a fool.

She immediately recognized something was wrong. “What information needs to be sent in writing?

Can’t internal secure communication channels be used?”

Cecilia did not answer but asked, “Grandma Elaine, why do you think we haven’t found any clues about

the mastermind for more than 20 years?”

Elaine took off her reading glasses, and her expression became serious.

“Ceci, if there is no evidence, don’t suspect your own people so easily.”

“Grandma Elaine, I really don’t have any evidence, but there must be something wrong with our people.

We will find out.”

After that, Cecilia changed the topic and asked, “Grandma Elaine, whose photos are you looking at?”

Elaine did not insist on continuing the unpleasant topic. In response to Cecilia’s words, she said, “I’m

looking at the three boys at home. You haven’t seen this photo album yet. Sit down and look at it with

me.” Then, Elaine patted her side, put on her presbyopic glasses again, and opened the photo album.

There were older photos in the old photo album.

Some were even black–and–white, heavily oxidized, and blurred.

“Ceci, this is Aiden when he was a kid, chubby and so much fun to play with. Now, he doesn’t look like

the boy in the photo, always wearing a cold, aloof expression as if everyone owes him money.”

Although Elaine seemed to have a disgusted expression, there was a smile in her eyes and at the

corners of her mouth. Obviously, she was satisfied with Aiden’s achievements nowadays.

Cecilia hugged Elaine’s arm and said, “Aiden holds a high position. If he doesn’t maintain a serious

demeanor, he won’t be able to manage those

under him. Don’t be too hard on him.”

Then, she pointed to a skinny boy in a photo and asked, “Grandma Elaine, is this Charlie?”

Cecilia had seen photos of Charlie before, but they were all taken when he was four or five years old.

She had not seen photos of Charlie from his earlier days.

Elaine nodded and touched the boy’s face on the plastic–sealed photo with her finger.

“Charlie was born prematurely and has been in poor health since childhood. His family has spoiled him

a bit, which has made him quite mischievous, but he is considerate and affectionate, and never causes

trouble. He is the source of happiness for the family.”

Cecilia looked at the smiling boy and said, “If Charlie could grow up in the Shaw family, he would

definitely be an honest and kind person. His achievements might be no worse than Aiden’s.”

“I think so, too. What a pity,” Elaine replied.

“Grandma Elaine, do you believe it? Everyone has their own destiny. The kind people will be the best

they can be. Just like me. I think Charlie will always make you proud wherever he is.”

Elaine looked at Cecilia’s face.

“Ceci, you’ve been talking and acting weird lately. Are you hiding something from me?”

As soon as she finished asking, she came to her senses and asked again, “You have been talking

about Charlie. Have you heard from him?”

Cecilia had not expected Elaine to be so observant. She smiled softly. “Grandma Elaine, I wish I had

heard from Charlie. But Evan hasn’t found any useful clues about the mastermind, and Aiden hasn’t

sent any news. We can’t locate the mastermind’s base, and it’s impossible to confirm Charlie’s fate.”

With that, she added, “The reason why I keep mentioning Charlie is probably because the mastermind

is making frequent moves. Besides, I happened to meet Zachary today.”

Elaine could not refute Cecilia’s reason, so she did not ask any more

questions.

After Cecilia looked at the photo album for a while, she said, “Grandma Elaine, it’s getting late. Let’s go

to rest.”

She put the photo album away and helped Elaine back to her room.

As soon as she reached the entrance, her mobile phone rang.

It was a call from the hospital.

“Ms. Yancey, Mr. Forte’s condition suddenly worsened, and he was rushed

to the emergency room.”
