Chapter 908: The Argument
“Thank you. I’m feeling a bit dizzy, could you help me?” Ranita held Ayaan’s hand with one hand and leaned on Rodolfo’s arm with the other.
Her body swayed slightly, almost leaning completely on the stranger.
Brendon watched with eyes burning with anger.
Ranita ignored him and said to Rodolfo, “Don’t worry about it, let’s go!”
Rodolfo glanced at Brendon and then at Ranita, eventually deciding to help her home.
After walking a bit further, Rodolfo asked, “Ranita, are you okay?”
“I’m fine, just a little dizzy.” Ranita felt extremely uncomfortable, her voice hoarse and her face haggard, looking very weak.
“Is that person someone you like?” Rodolfo asked curiously.
Ranita pressed her lips together, reluctant to answer, and gently withdrew her hand. “Sorry about earlier.”
Rodolfo nodded understandingly. “It’s okay, we’re friends. I’m glad I could help. I’ll take you home to rest.”
Alexia was quite surprised by Rodolfo’s arrival. She wanted to be a good host, but with Ranita not feeling well, she didn’t have much time to talk.
“You really are something. How could you leave the hospital like that? If it weren’t for Rodolfo, no one would have helped you if you fainted on the street.”
“Rodolfo seems like a good kid! You said he wasn’t interested in you before, but I think he likes you…”
“When you feel better in a couple of days, invite him over and have a good chat.”
Alexia couldn’t help but nag a bit.
Ranita lay in bed, feeling dizzy and wanting to sleep, but thoughts of Brendon kept her from calming down.
Naturally, she didn’t hear what Alexia was saying.
“Ranita, are you listening to me?” Alexia shook her arm. Ranita looked at her blankly. “Mom, what is it?”
“Did you hear what I just said? If you don’t object, I’ll take it as a yes.” Alexia said irritably. “You look very tired. Get some rest! There’s water on the table; drink some if you’re thirsty. Call us if you need anything.”
What did Alexia just say?
Ranita stared at her blankly for a while before nodding confusedly. “Oh…”
Ranita lay there for a while, feeling very tired but unable to sleep. Her head felt heavy as if filled with stones, the sharp edges scraping painfully against her brain.
She wanted to push thoughts of Brendon out of her mind.
But she couldn’t; as soon as she closed her eyes… she would think of Brendon.
Just like four years ago.
The pain was so intense she didn’t know how to go on living.
“Mommy!” At some point, Ayaan had climbed up and wrapped his small chubby arms around her neck.
“Mommy, are you in pain? Ayaan will blow on it to make it better.”
Ayaan’s big eyes were red with worry.
Ranita touched his face, which looked so much like Brendon’s, and felt a lump in her throat. “Ayaan, Mommy isn’t in pain. Mommy is sick; you shouldn’t get too close in case you catch it.”
Ranita had a fever and a sore throat with some nasal congestion-symptoms of a cold.
“Ayaan isn’t afraid of getting sick.”
Children don’t lie; though Ayaan was young, every word he said touched her heart.Content provided by NôvelDrama.Org.
Ayaan truly was a gift from heaven.
“Thank you, Ayaan. You’re so brave!” Ranita comforted him. “But if Ayaan gets sick, Mommy will be very sad.”
