chapter 77 Become a monster again
Olivia fell into a deep slumber after she got home and bathed.
Another two days had passed when she woke up from her sleep.
The frantic Si Family were pestering Xavier again, wanting him to contact Olivia.
Xavier went to Olivia's room twice and saw her sleeping soundly inside. He was unwilling to disturb her rest for those unimportant people.
Before Olivia fell asleep, she had insisted to the Si Family to provide Dennis with the pills because the poisonous insect had taken root in his body for far too long, and there were still many remaining toxins in his body that needed to be cleared slowly.
Olivia also stated that it was normal for Dennis to puke out blood during the next two days and that they didn't have to worry about it.
Before she left, she gave the Si Family the formula for the medicinal concoction that would be used to bathe Dennis once every two days.
Olivia had almost clarified everything about the problems that might arise with Dennis.
Her reason for doing so was simple. She didn't want these people to bother her for the next two days over some trivial matter.
In other words, everything was all right as long as Dennis was still alive.
Olivia's treatment process seemed simple on the surface, but Xavier knew from watching her do her job that such seemingly effortless action often required the most energy.
Recalling the time that Olivia had to rest for two or three days after operating on Sofia, Xavier knew that she needed to replenish energy after treating people.
Yet, the Si Family bugged him endlessly during these two days. One second, they wanted Olivia to show up so she could take a look at why Dennis was puking blood. The next second, they wanted her to go over so she could diagnose their health problems. They also started to doubt Olivia's medical skills, wondering what she did to Dennis that not only did not help him regain consciousness but also caused him to lose weight and puke filthy blood every day.
Xavier didn't have the mood to entertain them. As for Yaron, he patiently explained to them initially. After all, he was there when Olivia explained Dennis' situation.
However, soon, he gave up, not bothering to answer the Si Family's questions anymore.
Even though Yaron acted anxious and startled before Xavier, he normally behaved aloofly.
After all, he was an internationally known doctor.
Yaron had only ended up at the Si residence to serve Dennis as his family doctor because of his friendship with Xavier.
Just because he respected Xavier didn't mean that he respected the other members of the Si Family, too.
Meanwhile, the Si Family was in a frenzy, unable to locate Olivia. This is from NôvelDrama.Org.
Especially the Si sisters who found out through their hospital checkups that they were sick. The doctors told them the treatment process was troublesome, and their diseases were incurable, so all the doctors could do for them was to ease their symptoms. Yelena and Michelle were anxious, and they couldn't sleep or eat, worrying about their conditions worsening.
It was normal for humans to react in such a way. They were fearless and undaunting when they didn't know they were sick. But when they found out they had health concerns, humans would want their sickness to be cured immediately.
Moreover, Yelena and Michelle came from a rich family, and they had a life filled with prosperity before them.
They had been supported financially by the Si Family for the first half of their lives, and they didn't have to worry about the second half of their lives either, with the Si Family backing them.
All these two women had to think about before was to find ways to gain more benefits from the Si Family and not worry about their health conditions.
But now, with the rise of their physical issues, Yelena and Michelle had the niggling fear that they wouldn't be able to survive until the Si Family's assets were divided among them.
They feared they wouldn't be around to enjoy the Si Family's riches and the life's pleasures it brought.
This was especially true for rich people like the Si Family members.
Therefore, after not seeing Olivia for two days, Yelena and Michelle both lost weight. They looked haggard, and even their hair turned white.
As for Olivia, she had no idea what was happening at the Si residence, nor did she care about the Si Family members.
After waking up, Olivia went to take a relaxing bath and then changed into comfortable clothes. She hummed a tune as she walked out of the room happily, ready to take her first bite of food for the day.
As soon as she left the room, she noticed a pleasant scent lingering in the house. Olivia smiled with satisfaction as she strolled toward the kitchen lazily. She was curious to see what delicious dish Xavier prepared during this odd hour.
Plus, she, too, wanted to know how detailed and caring Xavier could be.
Just then, a middle-aged woman in her fifties or sixties walked out of the kitchen. She was holding a spatula, seemingly trying to find something. When the woman spotted Olivia, she paused.
Olivia, who wanted to tease Xavier, froze on the spot, too.
"May I know who are you?" Olivia frowned in confusion.
The other party quickly recovered her senses, covering her embarrassment with a smile. "You... You're Mrs. Si, right? Hi, Mrs. Si. My name is Madeline. Mr. Si hired me to be the housekeeper and prepare meals for you, Mrs. Si."
Olivia nodded slightly but said nothing.
"I happened to be on leave when you and Mr. Si returned two days ago," Madeline explained, "Mr. Si told me that you will most probably wake up today so he told me to prepare your meal for you around this hour. You must be hungry, Mrs. Si. Please give me a few minutes. I'll serve them to you soon!"
"Well, thank you for your hard work." Olivia lost all interest for a while. She nodded, sat on the sofa next to her, and played with her phone lazily,
"No worries. It's a part of my job!" Madeline headed to the kitchen hurriedly.
Olivia saw the text Xavier sent her this morning, realizing he had returned to the Si residence.
Feeling bored, Olivia went through her WeChat unread messages and replied to all of them hastily,
Then, as she scrolled through her Instagram, she saw the photos taken by Emma during her visitation and practice at Sammy's dance studio with the text: [Thank you, Sammy, for your guidance. I will practice well, and I promise not to disappoint you!]
Emma made it sound like Sammy had placed high hopes on her.
Beneath the caption, Mia and Tyrone commented words of encouragement and pride while the relatives from the Xia Family showered her with exaggerated praises.
Olivia mused, "The people who were always around me when I was young are now buttering up to Emma, ignoring me."
Over the years, after Sofia fell ill and spent a lot of money on her operations, no relatives except for a few visited Sofia in the first year she was hospitalized, and that was it. Nobody cared to visit nor care for Sofia, lest to provide Sofia and Olivia with monetary support.
In Olivia's memory, she had an aunt and her daughter who visited Sofia occasionally, bringing her some tonic to replenish her nutrients. But they soon stopped visiting after Mia and Tyrone pressured them not to.
Just then, Olivia saw the said cousin's comment on Emma's Instagram post. She wrote: [Emma, you're in the capital city? Let's meet up for a meal if you are free."
Emma replied enigmatically: [Oh, I forgot you're studying in a third-rate school in the capital city. No problem. I will treat you to a good meal when I'm not so occupied with my training.]
The corners of Olivia's mouth twitched. Then, she called Sofia.
Only then did she discover that the cousin was enrolled in a music academy in the capital city last year. Although it was not a first-class university, the music department of that school was much better than those of the universities around Jianglin City.
Olivia stared at Emma's comment, sneering. Olivia replied to her cousin: [Can you treat me to a meal too?]
Within a few seconds, the cousin called her, exclaiming excitedly, "Olivia, y-you are in the capital city too? How's Aunt Sofia? I was so busy preparing for a competition, and I didn't know you had returned to the country already!"
Just then, Madeline was done cooking as she voiced politely, "Mrs. Si, the dishes are ready. Dig in quick. Don't starve yourself."
