KNIGHT
“Shit.” I caught my breath, and she chuckled at the interruption.
We pulled apart when the vibration continued. I still wanted to make out with Nirvana, but the call seemed important. I shifted in my seat uncomfortably with the bulge on my groin.
“Aren’t you going to answer that? Could be important.”
“This better be.” I fished out my phone from my pocket and checked the caller ID. “Shit.”
I answered quickly. “Hey. Glad you call.”
“Is this a bad time? Where are you?”
“It’s fine. I’m at home with Nirvana.” I turned to her and mouthed who I was talking to on the other line.
“I need to talk to you. It’s important. It can’t wait.”
“Of course. When do we meet?” She must have found something about the curse.
“How about now?”
“Wait. You’re here?” Until the portal appeared before the white screen.
“Now I’m here.” Zarah walked in.
“Oh, my God.” Nirvana’s hand was on her chest, staring at the portal before it disappeared. She got up to meet Zarah, and they kissed each other’s cheeks. “I’m still trying hard to wrap this all around my head. It’s good to see you again.”
“I take it you two get along well.” She bounced her gaze between me and Nirvana, and she must have smelled arousal in the air.
“Yeah. We’re getting there.” I grabbed the remote to stop the movie. “What did you find out?”
“Complicated. We can talk alone if you want?”
I chuckled. “And you said that before her? You can tell us both. I won’t keep secrets from her anyway.”
“That’s good to know.” She sighed as if finding it hard to find the right words to break the news.
“I can take it, Zarah. Just tell us what you found out,” insisted Nirvana.
“When I heard about a seer from our coven, I went to Tibet to find her. She’s old-ninety years in supernatural age and about four hundred years in human age.”
“Wow. Did she tell you how to break the curse?” Nirvana asked.
“Something like that. She can only see the future through her dreams if imminent threats like pandemics, world conflicts, or natural disasters are about to happen. Despite that, she keeps only her ability if she remains maiden.”
“Excuse me?” Nirvana was the first one to react. “My mother did not lose her gift even if she was married to my father, did she?”
“Yes. There are certain types of seer. Some are channelers. The force, power, and strength depend on what kind of seer you are. Your mother can see the future of a person, human or supernatural. You, however, are about to be determined.”
“So my mother doesn’t have to restrain from anything. Is that why she got married?”
“I talked to your grandfather. Your mother manifested her gift when she turned eighteen. She had already joined the coven and practiced her gift. The moment she chose your father, she left her coven. Their leader was a warlock-”
“The same warlock her mother saw the future?”
“The body, yes.”
“What do you mean by that?”
“He can glamour everyone he wants and was the same warlock who killed her and her husband.”
“That son of a bitch. Is he still alive?”
“There’s a lot of tales going around that another warlock killed him. But it is difficult to kill one. I have doubts if he was killed, but there is a way to stop him. Lock him up with black magic. Take away his power or lock him in hell.”
“Hell? Like a literal hell?”
“Yes.”
“Oh, thank God. Because I might be the one who will find and kill that son of a bitch,” Nirvana said angrily. “Did you find a way to break the curse?”
“Are you a virgin?”
“Excuse me?” Nirvana’s cheeks turned red like tomatoes as she stared at Zarah in shock. “What does that have to do with breaking the curse?”
“Everything.”
I went awfully silent because I didn’t know how to react to the newfound information. If Nirvana was a virgin, I had nothing against it, but I was her mate, and I couldn’t sleep with her? What about our plans to build a family? Would it all go to waste so she could practice her gift? That was fucking awful.
“Hey.” Zarah snapped her fingers before my face. “Not the right time to overthink it.”
Nirvana suddenly looked guilty.
“Hey. It’s okay.” I wrapped my arms around her and kissed her head. “The decision still comes from you.”
“So the only way to break my curse is if I am a virgin? And then what ceremony should I do?”
Shit. She was a virgin. I made sure not to overreact around her, but it was too late. When I looked down at her, she was staring at me.
“Don’t look at me like that. I just didn’t find the man I wanted to pop my cherry to,” she said sarcastically.
“Well, I don’t care whether you’re a virgin or not as long as you want and are willing to sleep with me.”
“Enough with sex talk,” Zarah said impatiently. “You have to decide now, and this is a one-way ticket, Nirvana, or you lose the gift.”
“I changed my mind. I don’t want it anymore.”
I took a deep breath to calm myself. “Nirvana, this is a gift-a special kind of gift.”
Nirvana glared at me. “You call it special and a gift when I have to stay a virgin? And seeing people’s future is scary. I may be able to save lives, but this is not the gift I want. This is a curse. It doesn’t matter if I stay a virgin. At least I don’t have to know if or how someone will die. I don’t want this. Unless you don’t wanna sleep with me.”
“Nirvana, it’s not a question if I want to sleep with you. I want to build a family with you, but I want you to make a wise decision.”
“So what? Can you stay celibate for the rest of your life? Or you will reject me and find somebody else.”
I swallowed hard. Don’t get me wrong, I enjoyed sex a lot, but cheating on my mate was not a question. I could never intentionally hurt her. “I would never cheat on you nor reject you.”
“You did it before. It would be easy for you to do it again now that you have reasons to.”
“Nirvana, are we really going to argue about this?” My voice was stern.
“Yes. Because this is my life, and I decide what’s best for me. And if you don’t wanna sleep around, then I can’t let you stay celibate for the rest of our lives. That is not living if we couldn’t be happy just because I have a gift, and it dictates us not to live the way we want to be.”
“Very well then,” Zarah said.
For a moment, I paused to calm down. “Can we talk about it first?”
“No, Knight. I already made a decision.”
“Nirvana, please?”
“I can’t believe we’re still discussing this. This is my life, my choice, and my decision. If you can’t accept me as human, then maybe we should not be together. I don’t want to have a gift without my free will.” She looked at Zarah. “I don’t want it anymore. I need some air.” She left the room, leaving me and Zarah in an awkward situation.
“Why do you want her gift?” Zarah asked, watching me like a hawk.
“It’s not just about her gift. If she could be like me, then we could live longer together, Zarah. I think I’m falling for her. And I’ve never been happier and have a reason to get up early in the morning. I found a reason to work hard and be my best version. In a short time, we met, and she made me realize many things. That’s why I want her to be a werewolf. Her gift is just a plus. So what’s the cure?”
“I will bring her to a temple in Tibet, where I met the seer. We will do the ceremony in the temple, which is in the highest place in the area. When we come back, you should bite her during a full moon to activate the werewolf gene in her.”
“What the fuck? Do you expect me just to bite her? And then what? She will hate me for the rest of her life.”
“She won’t undergo the transformation process because she already has a werewolf blood. It’s just dormant because of a curse. You just have to guide her and teach her how to shift. It would be hard, but she’s a strong woman.”
“I can’t do it.” I shook my head violently. “I can’t bite my mate without her consent and then keep her virgin. That means we can’t complete the mating process.”
“Then I’m sorry, I can’t help you anymore. You two have to decide. We can only hold the ceremony during the solstice, which would happen in two days. And the seer I met doesn’t have a long time. You know two seers can’t be in the same room together. It’s like a paradox. It can cause a tremendous earthquake or a massive hurricane.”ConTEent bel0ngs to Nôv(e)lD/rama(.)Org .
“What the- are you for real right now?”
“Yes. That’s why if there are two seers, one should live in another part of the world. Hence, Kushima has stayed her whole life in the temple away from civilization.”
