Freya gave Charity a call right away. She chuckled. "Ryan proposed to me last night."

Charity was surprised but soon thought she should not be. "Well, you two have been dating for two years. Dating longer isn't necessarily a good thing."

"I think so too. Ryan is nice, and he's worth treasuring. The fear from my previous relationship's failure has also healed over the last two years, so I accepted his proposal."

Freya smiled and said, "I told Cathy, and she was pretty envious. So, she went back and nagged at Shaun that they hadn't had a wedding yet. Shaun agreed immediately and said they'd have it together with us. We don't want it to be too grand because it'll be troublesome, so we'll just have a small wedding at a seaside hotel with parents and friends from both sides in attendance."

"That's great. I won't have to attend two weddings since you two are having it together," Charity teased.

"Do you want to have your wedding with us? You and Chester are back together anyway."

Charity was taken aback, but she refused without hesitation. "Forget it. We just got back together not long ago. Besides... my relationship with Chester is slightly complicated. It's not what you think it is."

"Will you guys break up again?"

"No." Charity had mixed feelings. "Although we're back together, we can't return to what we were before. There'll always be some bumps that we have to smoothen out slowly. I need more time too."

"Since you've agreed to be with him again, why are you still holding on to the past and overthinking?" Freya laughed and said, "Okay. If you're unwilling, just remember to give us a wedding gift and be our bridesmaid."

"Sure."

After hanging up, a mix of emotions overcame Charity.

Her best friends were getting married, and she was happy for them.

After getting off work from the hospital, Chester received a call from Shaun.

"Cathy and I are going to have our wedding in the Maldives next month. Free up your time and be my groomsman."

Chester got really envious. "You two have been married for so many years. Your kids can even run errands, and you're having a wedding now?"

"Why can't I? Cathy was reluctant to have a wedding before, but now that Freya's getting married, she's jealous. So, I must fulfill her wishes." Shaun sounded smug. "Cathy will surely invite Charity to be her bridesmaid. Although you can't make Charity marry you, being a groomsman and bridesmaid together won't be a problem."

Chester was speechless.

That hurt his heart.

His expression was dark. "Don't worry. I'll definitely be there."

Upon returning home, Chester parked his car and went next door for a meal.

He had become so brazen. He knew Larissa would surely ask him to stay for dinner if he went over during mealtimes.

He had not seen Cal for the entire day too, and as Cal's father, he missed him.

Chester lifted his son and whispered to him secretly, "Grow up fast and be a flower boy for your mom and me."

Cal smiled widely while listening. His eyes were bright, and he stretched his hand to touch Chester's face.

"Does that mean you agree? Good boy." Chester was all smiles.

"What are you guys talking about?" Charity just got off work. After parking and heading inside, she saw the father and son together. The little boy did not know how to speak yet, but his fair face had a silly smile on it.

She did not realize it before, but now that Chester and Cal were together, they looked exactly like each other.
