Chapter 70
Unice’s PoV
We were taken to the police station, where I saw other criminals who had been apprehended by the authorities. Ace let him sit down and didn’t even glance at me. Maybe he’s acting this way, so I won’t be suspicious.
“I apologize for bothering you, but this will be brief. Can you tell me your name, miss?” The officer inquired while I sat in a chair in front of the computer. The officer was typing something, possibly the information they needed.
“My name is Unice Venice,” I said back to him, and he nodded before turning to gaze at Max beside me.
I must be cool and focused on my acting, or our strategy will fail.
“Okay, how about you, sir? Sir, what is your name?” The officer inquired as he continued to type. I was scared that if Max revealed his true identity, he would be suspicious.
“My name is Max Leonas,” Max said, and I was surprised since he had revealed his genuine identity. The cops nodded, and he printed something.
“You are Unice’s cousin; when was the last time you spoke to her before the kidnapping?” Police began questioning Max, and I couldn’t think everything was planned. Perhaps they created a phony ID that no one would discover.
While I was gazing at it, I noticed Ace being questioned by the police. I wanted to be with him and help him, but he advised me to be cautious and that he didn’t want me to become a criminal like him.
“Thank you for answering the question, Mr. Leonas; you may take your cousin home; we will settle the investigation at the mansion where the incident occurred; for the time being, the mansion will be off limits for investigation; gather the information we require,” the police advised, and I stood up from my seat, Max still acting as if he was assisting me.
“Don’t look at him. We have a lot of things to resolve. Ace will be alright for now. There’s nothing we can do except follow his plan.” Max murmured, and as I walked away, I felt like my heart was shattering.
A vehicle approached us. It looked like a Humvee in a dark color. I’m curious how Ace got these things because they’re pretty pricey. I noticed Charlie waving at us, so I followed Max inside the car. As I looked at the police station, we arrived at the mansion; Charlie and Max got out, and they opened the door for me as I exited.
“I’m going to gather my belongings; this place will soon be off limits.” I advised them, and I walked around the rear of the mansion, where I saw the falls where Ace threw the CCTV camera, and the mansion had a ‘do not enter sign.’
Observing where Ace is standing, I remove the lid from the ground and pick up my bag and other belongings, which I set here. I open the travel bag and take out the small box containing the engagement ring; I put it on again as I hear footsteps and notice Max holding a flashlight.
“Is that everything you own?” Max inquired, and I nodded.
“Yes, let’s go to the new house that Ace bought,” I responded, rising from my seat and asking him to assist me in carrying my belongings.
I enter the car and glance at Ace Mansion before feeling the car move. I pull up my phone and text Zoey about what happened today. I was surprised when I received an incoming call from Zoey, and I answered it immediately.
[Unice! Where have you gone?! I want to speak with you!] As I smiled, Zoey remarked.
“Calm down. I’m alright; I’ll send you where I’m heading and tell you everything that happened.” I said that I was attempting to calm her down.
[Sure, I’ll be waiting for your text, take care on your way,] Zoey responded before hanging up the phone and sending her my location.
“Is that Zoey?” Max inquired while driving, and I nodded.
“Do you still want to get to know her better?” When I questioned him, he smirked.
“I’d want to; could you assist me? I know she likes Mr. Daffe, but perhaps I have a chance,” Max remarked, and I laughed.
“Mr. Daffe rejected Zoey; I’ll tell her about you so she may give you a chance; for now, let us focus on our strategy,” I said, and I noticed in the mirror that he was smiling while using his phone, and Charlie was driving.
In an hour, we arrived at the new house that Ace purchased explicitly for me, and as I looked outside, I saw five guys defending the house, as well as Tom and Justin. I exited the car, and the five men greeted me with respect.
“I’m not your boss, but I appreciate it,” Max tapped my shoulder as I thanked them.
“Ace said you’re our boss too, so you’re free to command them,” Max emphasized, and I shook my head.
“This is insane; if I have a chance to talk to him, I will scold him,” I said.
“You can explore the house first, Miss Unice, and if you have any adjustments on the house, let me know,” Max said, and I nodded. I stepped inside and was surprised to see that there was already furniture, which was beautiful.Property © NôvelDrama.Org.
I look around the house and inspect it to see what it looks like. It is a simple American-style house with new furnishings. It has a kitchen with new materials, a living room with a large LCD television that I can watch, a dining room, a garage, and a fourth floor.
Decided to go upstairs, which was not difficult because it was also the same at Ace’s firm. As I reached the fourth floor, I noticed the sign ‘Our Room.’ I opened the door, and there was a box on the bed, which I approached and found a letter on. I read it, and it was Ace’s handwriting. How could he do this so quickly? Was it planned ahead of time? Perhaps he is writing this while working.
Dear, Unice
If you are reading this, I am most likely being detained by authorities, and my plan has been executed precisely for you. I know from the beginning that I will be separated from you, and I have been prepared for this since I began. If this hadn’t happened in the first place, for murdering my parents, I wouldn’t be like this, and I wouldn’t meet you in this way. Maybe I’ll meet you in a better way; this is the house I kept hidden from you if that day comes; I bought it when I first started my own business. I didn’t tell you since it’s a surprise, but I genuinely want to change and go forward, but the nightmares keep following me, so I stick to my plan. Maintain the strategy. If I am jailed, please come to me and inform me about your pregnancy test results. My men will obey your commands, and my employees in my company will support you no matter what happens. I love you, Unice, and please take care of yourself at all times.
Sincerely, Shelton Ace
Opening the box, I was surprised to see the black leather-fitting jacket. I suppose this is his clothing, so why would he give me his black jacket? I pick it up and immediately detect his perfume on the jacket.
Giggled because he feared I’d masturbate on his jacket, but I’ll retain it as a souvenir and let him wear it again when he returns. I heard a voice outside and believed it was Zoey; I went downstairs and exited the house.
“Unice, who are these people? Why are they staring at me so intently? And I had no idea Ace had bought your own home! Congratulations! Tell me what happened.” Zoey said to me, so I laughed as she approached.
“They are Ace’s men. Come in and look at Ace’s new house. He bought it only for me,” I offered to Zoey as I welcomed her to my new home, and she nodded. I looked at Max, who was gesticulating, and I knew what he meant.
“This house is basic, and I believe it’s ideal for you, and it’s incredibly cool!” Zoey said as she sat on the sofa and looked around.
“I’m sorry I don’t have anything to offer you like food and drinks, I just got here just now, and it’s late, but you still came,” I apologized, and she touched my hand.
“It’s okay for me because you’re my best friend; I can sleep here with you if you can’t sleep because Ace was arrested; are you okay?” Zoey reassured me, and I felt sorry since I remembered Ace being detained earlier. Still, I needed to remain rigid and continue with the plan.
“Thank you, Zoey, but I’m alright; I had no idea Ace was planning to murder someone today. Perhaps he wanted it to complete everything that needed to be done. I just do what he says and act in front of cops to avoid being detained.” I thanked her and told her what had happened earlier, and I was astonished when she hugged me.
“I’m glad you’re safe; if you need anything, just contact me, and if you want, I can live here with you until he’s released; what do you think?” Zoey suggested she move in with me since I treat her like family, and I can sense her consoling me in my worst hour. I let go of the hug.
“You may live here since we are like sisters,” I said, and she laughed. Thank heavens she is here with me, even though Ace is gone now.
