Don’t Fall for the Billionaire Lover

Chapter 816

Eve felt the sting of a slap on her cheek. But she didn't regret it. She'd been holding those words in her heart for far too long.

Late that night, Kent found himself at the chapel, kneeling before the memorial plaques of Eve and Devon's mother until dawn. During those quiet hours, he had a lot to ponder. Claire had been his unreachable love, his "moonlight". In his life, besides the Nagel family's business, she had been his top priority, even more than his own wife. But today, something clicked in him. When he almost begged Claire not to open that door, disregarding his own pride, he realized all his years of loyalty had been misplaced.

Meanwhile, a significant upheaval struck the Gilbert family. Diana was missing. Desmond and Suzanne were frantic with worry. That night, Desmond had arranged for Diana to be driven back to the Gilbert estate after visiting Claire, but the car never returned. It was as if Diana had disappeared into thin air. The Gilberts spent the entire night at the police station, combing through road surveillance footage, but found nothing useful. Suzanne's eyes were red from crying, "I knew we shouldn't have gone. Now something terrible has happened. How will Diana cope with this?"

They feared Diana might have taken a drastic step. But then Desmond had a sudden realization. “Could it have been Claire? Did Claire do something to her?"

Suzanne chimed in, “Actually, Diana had already thrown her lot in with Claire. She's been helping her with schemes against Connor."

Desmond was stunned at this revelation. He had thought Claire orchestrated everything, using Barrett to ruin Diana's reputation.

Suzanne continued, "If I'm right, this might've been another plot by Diana and Claire against Connor, but something went wrong. Otherwise, why would Diana insist on attending their engagement party?"noveldrama

This explanation seemed to fit. Desmond sighed deeply, "How did she end up like this?"

He reflected, "So, Claire wouldn't harm her, right? But where is she now?"

Since Diana was temporarily allied with Claire, it was unlikely Claire would harm her. However, it was strange that Diana, along with the driver and the car, had vanished.

At that moment, Diana was actually locked in a private room at The Garden Club. Wrapped in a blanket she was shivering, her eyes filled with fear and suspicion. Muttering to herself, she seemed on the edge of madness: "How did it come to this?"

After what felt like an eternity in the dark, the door finally creaked open. Claire stood in the doorway. Seeing Claire, Diana quickly got up, dropped her blanket, and rushed to her. Grabbing Claire's hand, she asked, "We did it, didn't we? Our plan worked, right?"

"I'm going to be Mrs. Sartori soon, I'll really become Mrs. Sartori, won't I?" Diana's eyes were wild with excitement.

Claire raised her hand and slapped her: "Mrs. Sartori? Diana, you're dreaming!"

The slap brought Diana back to reality. She collapsed onto the floor, her prosthetic limb detaching. She clutched her face, sobbing quietly. Claire settled on the sofa across from her. "Diana, you changed the plan on your own and messed everything up. You really deserve this."
