Chapter 59
If Faye had truly been eaten up by guilt, she wouldn't have waited until now to meet Natasha.
Faye downed the rest of her drink in one gulp, then laughed.
"How about we make a deal?"
Back when Nicole had pushed Faye into hurting someone, she had paid her ten thousand dollars.
Ten thousand dollars wasn't much to Nicole, but for Faye, it was enough to cover all her university expenses.
If Natasha had the means to offer her something back then, things might have turned out differently.
"I'm sorry. I'm not interested in making deals with people like you," Natasha said flatly, rising from her seat.
She turned to leave, but Faye suddenly dropped to her knees with a loud thud.
"I know I made a mistake. Since I was wrong, I'm willing to accept any punishment that comes my way," she hurriedly said.
After some pressing, Faye finally explained herself.
Her mother had fallen gravely ill back in the countryside. Now, she was hospitalized in Cendale's best hospital.
There was hope for a cure, but the daily expenses were crushing her whole.
"If it wasn't for my mother raising me and getting me out of that place, I'd have never even glimpsed the kind of life I have now," Faye said, her voice thick with emotion.
She wasn't going to give up on her mother. And right now, she needed a lot of money.
"Do you want me to help you blackmail Nicole?" Natasha asked bluntly, getting right to the heart of the matter. After all, the only leverage Faye had was the dirt she held.
It wasn't like they were close enough for Faye to just come begging for money.
"Exactly. Nicole isn't nearly as smart as you are. And are you telling me you don't resent her even a little after everything?" Faye said.
Faye tried to stoke the fire, but if Natasha had really been that bitter after all those years, she would have already taken action herself.
"I know that the real reason you stayed with Matthew all those years is because you thought he was the one who saved you," Faye said.
Natasha stiffened. She thought she had hidden it well, but Faye saw right through her.
"After all, I managed to get into the same university as you on my own merit. You should at least have a little faith in me," Faye said with a light laugh.
She had clearly hit the mark.
The fact that Natasha hesitated even slightly meant there was still a chance for her.
"Why couldn't I find any information about the person who actually saved me?" Natasha asked sharply.
After she had nearly drowned years ago, she'd been rushed to the hospital.
When she woke up, the first person she saw was Matthew, slouching in a chair in the hallway, playing a game on his phone.
He barely spared her a glance. But it was that one glance that made her think he was the one who had saved her.
"You're fine now. I'm leaving," Matthew had said lazily.
Later, when she found out he was attending the same university as her, she threw herself into chasing him with everything she had.
Faye smiled faintly and said, "You
couldn't find anything because the forces behind that person have completely blocked and erased all related evidence."
ห
She had seen it firsthand.
After the incident, the person found Faye and said that if she kept quiet, they
wouldn't expose the fact that she had hurt someone.
Back then, Faye had no choice but to agree. There was no way she could fight them.
"Who was it?" Natasha demanded, her patience wearing thin.
But Faye simply took a sip of Natasha's drink, saying nothing.
Natasha exhaled slowly, and she asked, "What do you want me to do?"
"Nicole won't agree to meet with me now. I need you to use your name and getnoveldrama
her to show up," Faye said.
It wasn't a difficult task. But if Nicole
that Faye and Natasha v
g together, there was no wouldn't panic.
What do you think?
