Chapter 50 Threaten Me
Chapter 50 Threaten Me
"Otherwise, you'll threaten me again? Henry, you're threatening me now, aren't you?"
She replied in a bad mood. Who said she didn't play her role? They were divorced, and she was trying
to live her life properly. Who was the one that forced her into a relationship in public and forced her to
live here?
It was him, Henry!
Soon, Henry returned to the office. Luz looked away and pretended that she didn't see anything.
Henry could naturally see her every move through the transparent glass window. A mocking sneer
flashed across his eyes.
"Henry, I'm a little thirsty."
Emily pouted and leaned over again. She looked at the man in front of her carefully. He seemed to be
in a good mood when he said, "I'll ask the secretary to bring you coffee."
After that, Henry picked up the phone and said, "Secretary Boone, make me a cup of coffee."
Luz hung up the phone, biting her lips with her white teeth. She was a secretary, not a coffee runner.
His fingers were tapping on the glass impatiently, so she reluctantly headed towards the pantry.
She made a cup of instant coffee and took a deep breath before knocking on the door of his office and
going in.
When she entered, she was greeted with a surprising scene. Henry had Emily pinned against the table
in a suggestive position. It was clear what they were intending to do with this position. It did not help
that Emily's clothes were barely hanging on to her body.
"Mr Maynard, here's the coffee you asked for."
She felt as if her heart had been stabbed with a knife and was bleeding profusely, but she managed to
hide the pain and put down the cup of coffee on the table as if she never seen anything.
"Secretary Boone, thank you for your coffee."
Emily thanked her with a smile, but she had a smug look in her eyes. So what if they were husband
and wife? Her husband was flirting with another woman right in front of her. It was like they were never
married, and soon she wouldn't even be.
"You're welcome. If there's nothing else, I'll go out first."
Luz kept her expression indifferent, but she didn't look at either of them at all. Even if she and Henry
were divorced, this situation was still embarrassing. She kept telling herself that he was just another
meat sack that she had no interest in, but she still felt as if something was weighing on her heart.
But logic and pride made her hold her head high as she turned and left, her high heels clicking out a
steady rhythm.
Henry looked coldly at her leaving figure. "This damn woman! How could she be so unbothered seeing
him and Emily in such a scandalous position!"
Very good!
When she returned to her office, her face was burning with pain and she looked very embarrassed.
However, the floor-to-ceiling window between their offices hid nothing. She could even feel Henry's cold
gaze boring into her through the glass.
She lowered her head and looked at the documents in front of her calmly, but she couldn't read a single
word on them. If she could, she really wanted to leave this office so that she could show her pain, but
she couldn't.
She couldn't let Henry see the pain hidden in her heart. She didn't want to be fragile.
Emily noticed the look in Henry's eyes, and the joy in her heart disappeared in an instant. He didn't
really want to do anything with her. The thought of him caring about that woman made her annoyed,
but she couldn't show it.
What kind of man was Henry? It would be pointless for her to make a fuss. In fact, it might annoy him.
"Henry, this coffee tastes good. Do you want to try it too?"
"Really? Then feed me."
Henry smiled and pulled her hand towards him.
"You're so bad, dear. I don't want to do this while being watched."
Emily giggled and pressed the button to close the blinds. She smiled as she watched the blinds block
the view from the adjacent office. She wasn't in a hurry at all. She would make it so that Luz would
never have a place beside Henry, child or not.
However, she didn't know that Luz was actually thanking her silently as the blinds closed. She finally
felt a little warmth.
Luz managed to hold on for the entire afternoon. When it was finally time to get off work, she took her
bag and went out of the office. However, it was like fate was playing a joke on her. Just as she exited
her office, Henry and Emily walked out of his office arm in arm as well. Emily's lipstick was smudged.
The two of them probably hadn't been idle for the entire afternoon. From NôvelDrama.Org.
Realizing that she was thinking about something she shouldn't have, she pinched herself to clear her
mind.
Henry walked past her with his hand around Emily's slender waist as if he didn't see her.
"Oh, didn't they just announce their marriage to the media a few days ago? What's going on right
now?"
"Looks like Mrs Maynard isn't going to be Mrs Maynard for long."
Emily Hurst and Mr Maynard's relationship had been a long-time scandal, to the point that there were
speculations of marriage. It turned out that Henry had married a secretary instead, but before they
could digest this news, Mr Maynard turned up with his rumoured girlfriend right in front of his wife. It
was clear that Mrs Maynard wasn't going to hold on to the title for long.
"Shh, keep your voice down. You might be the one fired."
Luz was not interested in the rumours, but she couldn't help hearing the whispers. She really wanted to
tell them that she had divorced their boss years ago.
But when she thought of Henry's threat, she could only pretend that she didn't hear anything.
After taking a taxi back to the house, the old lady saw her coming back alone and immediately asked
with a frown, "Luz, where's Henry? Why didn't he come back with you?"
"This silly grandson. Why doesn't he cherish the opportunity that I've worked so hard to create for
them?" she thought.
"He... had an engagement with someone else."
In order not to let her grandmother worry about her, she had to find an excuse for Henry. His client was
Emily, on the bed.
"An engagement? It's great that he's providing for the family, but he doesn't have to work so hard.
Never mind, let him be. As long as you and Logan are here with me."
As the old lady spoke, she took off the jade bracelet on her wrist and put it on Luz's hand.
"Grandma, what are you doing?"
She wasn't an expert on jewellery, but she could see that the jade bracelet was a high-end product and
very expensive.
