Fall For Me

Chapter 30

Cynthia was rushed and was quickly revived by just a sprinkle of water on her face. She regained her consciousness and was confused.

She looked up at me as I towered above her and the memories before she fell came flooding in.

“Good morning sunshine,” I said with a mocking tone, She quickly got up and regained her balance

“I-I- Sir-” She tried to formulate words with her mouth but I got bored and went straight to the point

“Why did you poison Valerie?” I walked closer to her and questioned her in front of everyone. She moved back a little

“I did no such thing, Sir, please” The fear in her voice was obvious and it made her seem more like a guilty person.

“Then why didn’t you come out when like I said” I bombarded her with questions, still moving forward and for every step I took closer to her she took another step backwards

“I was afraid Sir, I-I could never try to harm someone,” She said as tears started to gather in her eyes.

“Afraid? Because you committed the crime and you didn’t want to get caught?” I kept asking to see if she would break.

Once she got to the wall, She went on her knees and pleaded

“Please I will do anything, I didn’t poison anyone, I swear, I promise” She cried and begged.

In a way, I believed she was not responsible for such a devious crime but I wanted to push her

“You are another key suspect, now join them and go stand at the side” I commanded and she scurried off to join them

I took a good look at them before I turned back to look at Benson who was unmoved by the whole scene that had just played out

“Now I will be interrogating the key suspects now” No one leaves this hall till I’m done” With that being said, Benson led the suspected workers to another free room inside the hall, I interviewed them one after the other and all of them seemed to be innocent.

I finally called Janet in and I looked her in the eye and immediately started the questions.

“You are Valerie’s maid yes? I askedThis content is © NôvelDrama.Org.

“Yes I am Sir,” Janet answered

“Why did you poison her” I asked

“I wouldn’t dream of doing something like that Sir, not especially to someone as kind as Miss Valerie” Janet spoke without any hesitation

“So what you are saying is that you can poison a person if they are not kind?” I asked again, She gulped loudly and figured she had misplaced her words

“Pardon me, sir, that is not what I meant at all, I simply don’t have the capacity to take another person’s life regardless of their character traits,” Janet said

“Why didn’t you taste the food first before serving Valerie” I asked

“My apologies Sir, I wasn’t aware I was supposed to do that,” Janet spoke

“Then you are not fit for your work,” I said

“Please forgive my foolishness and it will never repeat itself. I assure you” Janet said while bowing her head with respect.

Before I said anything else one of the bodyguards came running towards me

“Sir, Madame is in a lot of pain,” He said and I ordered Benson to handle things when I was gone. I quickly dashed off to Valerie’s room and I didn’t see her in the bedroom. I heard a sobbing sound and I saw her head over the sink, vomiting.

The pain in my chest only grew worse when I saw her in such a condition, I held her hair while she vomited in the sink, and I could see she was weak, When she was done she laid on my chest, She was so pale I hated myself for causing her so much pain, I lifted her and took her to the bed.

“Should I call the doctor sir?” One of the bodyguards asked.

“No don’t bother, He said this will surely happen, She just needs rest,” I said

The urge to make the culprit pay only heightened when I saw her helpless and in pain in the bathroom and now how my pure, little rabbit passed out on my chest. The person will regret ever trying to do such and thinking they could get away with it.

After I had kissed her on the forehead and left her side, I went downstairs to find Benson still there with the workers murmuring, When they felt my presence they composed themselves, and with that anger in me I charged to go to the workers building that was different from my mansion and it was just at the back of my mansion.

The workers’ building was a decent place. It housed all the workers, I hadn’t been there for a while, in fact I hardly ever entered there. The halls had dim lights but it wasn’t in a bad condition, it was a modest space. The rooms were filled with bunk beds which would accommodate six people in a room, it was a large building so the rooms were more than enough for all the workers. I called Shanice since she was the one in charge of them. She will have to show me the rooms and call out the people the room belongs to.

I started with the first room and I checked out everything, The guards pulled out all the clothes from the wardrobe and searched thoroughly, Still, we found nothing, I had to take a break to go check up on Valerie as I was informed that she was awake again, Her steps were slow and she didn’t have balance, She didn’t utter a single word to me, probably because she was too weak to speak to me or because she knew I got her into this mess. Each time I saw her the pain in my heart only increased. I went down and we continued our search. We got to a room and started our usual search. Upon searching as the clothes were being removed, A Little black bottle fell from the pile of clothes.
