Chapter 843 It's Hard to Send Him Away
Phoebe stared blankly at him. She knew that for Theodore to say "treat them as his own" was already very difficult.
He had truly come to terms with accepting the existence of the kids.
He moved to Lakeview Estates to show his sincerity, but the more he did, the more guilty she felt.
As for why she felt guilty, she couldn't figure it out herself.
"Thank you!"
"No need!" Theodore's tone was indifferent. "After all, the kindness I show them, you will have to repay me double. Be prepared for that."
Phoebe rolled her eyes. Capitalists indeed never make a losing deal.
Hubert, Boris, and Noomi quickly returned after washing their hands, chattering away, while Ethan followed behind, looking sullen.
Phoebe noticed and saw Hubert, Boris, and Noomi crowding around Theodore again. She walked over to Ethan, squatted down, and asked, "Why are you unhappy today?"
Ethan twisted his fingers, looking at the lively scene by the sofa, and said softly, "Aunt Phoebe, are Hubert, Boris, and Noomi going to have a dad soon?"
Phoebe was taken aback. Following his gaze, she saw Theodore, though serious, patiently listening to Hubert, Boris, and Noomi. She knew Ethan was missing Donovan. "Do you miss your dad, Ethan?"
Ethan lowered his head, tears welling up in his eyes. "I-I don't."
Phoebe leaned in to hug him, thinking that Donovan was still alive but avoiding them, which was really too much. Look how wronged Ethan felt.
When Ruby came back in the evening, she would have to talk to her about taking Ethan to see Donovan.
Dinner was lively. Hubert, Boris, and Noomi kept giving Theodore the best portions from their bowls, saying it would help him recover quickly.
Phoebe was terrified.
Wealthy people often had some degree of cleanliness obsession, and Theodore was no exception. She was afraid he would lose his temper on the spot and quickly reached out to take his bowl away.
The next second, her wrist was grabbed by Theodore. He glanced at her indifferently, "What are you doing?"
"They just cared about you, nothing else. I know you don't like eating food others have touched, so I'll switch with you," Phoebe said quickly.noveldrama
Theodore pushed her hand away and said coldly, "It's fine."
Phoebe stared blankly as he lowered his head to eat the meat Noomi had scooped for him, showing no reluctance at all. It seemed he didn't mind, and her heart finally settled.
She looked at the kids and said, "Eat your own food. Don't think about scooping out what you don't like. Got it?"
Hubert, Boris, and Noomi's faces fell instantly. "Oh."
Theodore stopped chewing.
The piece of meat lingered in his mouth, neither going down nor coming up. He gave Phoebe a cool glance, thinking that she would surely be a key player in disrupting family harmony in the future.
After dinner, Hubert, Boris, and Noomi didn't cling to Phoebe but surrounded Theodore instead. Wherever he went, three little kids followed.
Phoebe helped Evelyn clear the table and took the dishes to the kitchen. Just as she was about to leave, Evelyn called her over.
"What's wrong?" Phoebe was still a bit uneasy, wanting to go out and watch Hubert, Boris, and Noomi to prevent them from bothering Theodore.
Evelyn gave her a sharp look. "What's wrong? Do you think what you said earlier was appropriate? How do you think Theodore felt hearing that?"

"You're usually so clever. Why don't you think before you speak now?" Evelyn continued. She had never seen anyone expose kids like that.
Phoebe felt wronged. "You know Hubert, Boris, and Noomi. They used to scoop all the food they didn't like into Ethan's bowl. I was afraid they'd do it again."
She didn't mean to expose them. They often did things like pretending to care for the elderly, sick, and disabled while picking out the food they didn't like.
When Ethan first moved to Lakeview Estates, no one noticed Hubert, Boris, and Noomi's little tricks. It was only when Ethan suddenly had indigestion that they found out.
A pediatrician said it was food accumulation.
Later, Evelyn noticed that Hubert, Boris, and Noomi were putting all the food they didn't eat into Ethan's bowl. Ethan, being good-natured, almost never refused and always finished everything.
Because of this, she had a talk with Hubert, Boris, and Noomi.
Evelyn calmed down and glanced at the kitchen door, lowering her voice. "What's going on with you and Theodore? You know what kind of person he is. Bringing him back home is easy, but getting him to leave will be hard. Do you understand?"
How could Phoebe not understand this? But what could she do?
"I know."
"I don't think you do. What are your plans? Are you going to remarry or just live together without any commitment?" Evelyn asked.
Phoebe pursed her lips. "I'll decide based on how things develop."
Evelyn got angry hearing this. "He's not someone you can mess with casually. You know that. Remember how you got divorced back then? If you're not sure, don't start anything."
Phoebe was at a loss for words. After a moment of silence, she said, "What can I do now? Theodore is already here."

Evelyn was so angry at her indifferent tone that she gritted her teeth. "I've warned you. Now go out."
Phoebe walked out of the kitchen dejectedly and saw Theodore watching cartoons with the kids. Unlike other fathers who might be distracted by their phones, he was genuinely engaged and spending quality time with them.
As soon as she came out, he looked over at her, his gaze making Phoebe's heart race.
She avoided his eyes and walked upstairs. At the guest room door, she saw Theodore's luggage in the room and clothes on the bed.
She went in and hung the clothes in the closet.
The guest room wasn't very big and didn't have a private bathroom. There was a shared bathroom on the second floor for showers, but it might not be convenient for someone like Theodore.
She pursed her lips and didn't touch Theodore's suitcase. However, she noticed a stain on the bedsheet, which Theodore, with his picky standards, probably couldn't accept.
She looked around the room but couldn't find a clean bedsheet, so she went to find Pamela.
Pamela was on the phone on the second-floor terrace, speaking softly. Phoebe vaguely heard "Mr. Reynolds" and frowned, walking towards the terrace.
"Pamela, who are you talking to?"
Pamela was startled, almost dropping her phone off the terrace. She quickly hung up and turned to face Phoebe, her eyes avoiding her gaze, looking very guilty. "Phoebe, I was talking to my family."
Phoebe stared at her, making Pamela almost unable to bear it before she spoke. "Is there a clean bedsheet at home? The guest room's bedsheet is dirty and needs to be changed."
Pamela sighed in relief and quickly said, "I'll get it right away."
Phoebe watched her hurriedly leave. In the night, her gaze gradually deepened.
What do you think?
