Are they going to kill me?
On the one hand, Rebecca was grateful that she had understanding and humble parents, and that despite they’re sometimes overprotective nature, they still care about her happiness, which is entirely dependent on Emerson.
In the middle of the night, when everything falls into the hands of silence except the intermittent clattering of crickets, Rebecca was aroused when her clock chimed, so she sprang out of her bed and put on her ghost-like outfit. She didn’t make any noise while taking the stairs and succeeded in sneaking out of the mansion.
“Where’s she going?” Claudio asked himself when she heard the door thud.
He knew it was his sister, because there’s no one else who would like to open the door in the middle of the night, but he was thinking differently about it, that she wanted to leave with Emerson. To support his hunch, Claudio followed her to the garden.
“I said it, she and Emerson are planning to leave,” Claudio thought, seeing his sister going towards the dormitory. “My parents need to know this before it’s too late.” He turned back and got inside the mansion.
Meanwhile, Rebecca went to the dormitory. She never wanted to see Emerson leave, and she’ll try her best to be with him forever. As she walked on, she saw a shadow reflected on the wall, carrying a bulging backpack. She identified who it was, so she didn’t waste her time getting close.
“Ghost!” Emerson exclaimed as he looked back, a very pale and bloodied face exposed in front of him, blocking his way because he wanted to run from fear.
“You! I’m not a ghost!” Rebecca yelled.
Emerson gradually realized that it was just a mask. But hearing her familiar voice, he fell into silence. He knew she couldn’t change her voice. He couldn’t believe it when he saw the woman he loved standing in front of him, trying to stop him from leaving.
“Rebecca?” He interrogated “Ha-how did you know?”
“How did I know that you were planning to leave?” Rebecca removed her mask. “That’s so simple as my personal maid has big ears, and I’m thankful that she heard your conversation with brother Damian.”
Emerson scratched his head in annoyance. He realized how bad it was to reveal his next moves, because that could change what he expected. Meanwhile, he also thought that Rebecca’s impression of him was gradually disappearing.
He doesn’t know what to do now that she’s near, doesn’t know what to say, as if his heart is floating in tears of embarrassment. He cannot tell her that taking a rest is the only reason why he’s leaving.
The spot where they were suddenly became apparent as the lampposts lit up, then Rebecca’s parents appeared many meters away, approaching towards them. What frightened them more was that Elfedio was holding a pistol.
“Are they going to kill me?” Emerson asked, then slapped his face, to know if what was happening was just a dream, but it was real, that they caught him leaving.
“Gosh! How did they know that I was going here?” Rebecca wondered.
“And where are you two going, huh?” Elfedio asked. “If Claudio didn’t wake us, we wouldn’t know that you’re already leaving. Don’t attempt to leave if you don’t want your brains to explode here!”
“Dad, please don’t do this!” Rebecca implored. “We’re not trying to escape!”
“I think she’s not telling the truth, Dad,” Claudio interrupted. “Emerson is carrying a backpack, for sure they are leaving.”
“Yup, but my daughter, in her clothes, do you think she’s leaving too?” Bernadette asked, as she knew that Rebecca would never go without being dressed properly.
“Well, they are the only ones who can explain this.” Elfedio lowered his gun, put it inside the pocket of his pants, and went towards them, and so did his wife and son.
“Thanks dad. I already told you: I won’t leave here. I just want to visit Emerson because Lucille told me that he’s planning to leave,” Rebecca explained.NôvelDrama.Org holds text © rights.
Elfedio finally understood what this was all about; Emerson is the one who needs to be blamed, because since he arrived there, all the misfortunes have struck, but not going further, he’s also the reason why this is happening.
“And what makes you want to leave?” Elfedio asked him.
“Sir, with all due respect, I know that I’m not welcome here anymore, and there’s no more reason I can give except that,” Emerson replied.
“I think you’re wrong, man,” Claudio interrupted.
“Yup, Claudio is right. How can you say that you’re not welcome here after what you’ve admitted? For my daughter, you’re always welcome here. We’re doing this from now on. And please don’t attempt to leave again,” Elfedio added.
“O, dad!” Rebecca suddenly cuddled him so tightly that he couldn’t breathe from the gratefulness that invaded his atmosphere. She knew that he was doing all of these things for her and that he could put his ego aside to avoid losing her.
“So, what are we still doing here?” Claudio broke the silence as he turned back and took some steps. “I’m going back to sleep.”
“You two, don’t attempt to leave again,” Bernadette reminded her as she turned back and continued to the mansion, and so did her husband.
“What are we still waiting for?” Rebecca asked. “Don’t you want to sleep with me?”
As Emerson pouted his lips of admiration for Rebecca’s bravery, beauty, cleverness, etc., there’s no doubt that there’s no other woman who can be as perfect as she, as what Mario said, hope his soul may go to heaven. In a sudden movement, Emerson dropped his backpack, spread his arms and embraced Rebecca.
“My parents already told you. Don’t attempt to leave again if you don’t want me to kick your ass,” Rebecca whispered right through his ear.
Emerson couldn’t hear anything but his mind shouting how grateful he was. He can no longer distance himself from her, as all he wants to do is to bolster her every day and every night. He suddenly carried Rebbecca and turned around.
“Oh my-please. Put me down! Put me down!” Rebecca complained, but Emerson was deafened by euphoria that they were finally allowed to flirt there.
“Psssttt!” Someone hissed. “Please lower your voice; I can’t sleep here!”
As the silence prevailed, Emerson and Rebecca were lying on the grassy yard, looking at the stars and letting the bizarre night pass by.
Meanwhile, Claudio was irritated that fate was always on their side. He could punch his bed a hundred times out of anger. But as soon as he was tired, he lay down on his bed and remembered why he was here.
“I do really need to act or else I can’t get the money left.” He soliloquized and made a plan on how to dispatch his sister.
