Chapter 17 A Fake Boyfriend
After returning home, Eudora washed up, poured a cup of hot water, and took the medicine.
She got pregnant last time by accident. She must not make the same mistake again.
It was just that Colbert was such a bastard.
After tidying up everything, Eudora lay on the bed and scrolled through her phone for a while before
falling asleep tiredly.
Early the next morning, she got up early, made oatmeal and scrambled eggs, packed them in a lunch
box, and rode to Steele Hospital by e-bike.
Usually, Eudora could only cook and deliver meals to her adoptive mother at noon and afternoon. But
recently, she got off work at midnight. She had time to make breakfast and send them to her adoptive
mother.
Riding an e-bike, Eudora went to Steele Hospital with the lunch box.
When she entered the ward, her adoptive mother, wearing a dark blue shirt and black trousers, was
washing her adoptive father's face.
Her adoptive mother's hair had gone grey. The years had ruthlessly left marks on her face, and the
wrinkles on her face had also become obvious.
"Why are you still asleep? You just lie on the bed and don't have to care about anything. But look at our
poor girl. Besides going to work, she has to cook meals for me every day. It breaks my heart."
Her adoptive mother, Mildred Stanford, murmured while helping the adoptive father, Ansel Stanford,
wash his face.
Holding back her tears, Eudora walked in with a smile and said, "Mom, what are you talking about? I
have nothing else to do anyway. Come and have breakfast."
She put the lunch box on the table, took the towel from Mildred, and went to the bathroom with the
basin.
"Eudora, don't cook for me in the future. I'll just have a sandwich in the morning."
Steele Hospital was a high-end private hospital, and the food around the hospital was very expensive.
Mildred basically only ate sandwiches for three meals a day to save money.
Naturally, Eudora couldn't bear to see Mildred so hard every day.
"Mom, hurry up and eat before it gets cold."
Eudora came out of the bathroom and smiled brightly, as if nothing had happened, "How is my Dad
these days?" she asked.
"He moves his fingers from time to time, but I don't know when he will wake up..."
Mildred sighed, unscrewed the lunch box, and ate oatmeal.
Eudora gave Ansel a massage sitting by the bed.
Halfway through the meal, Mildred looked at Eudora and said, "Since your Dad has responded, I'll take
him back to the hometown in the next few days.
"Look at your face. You're supposed to be a pretty girl. But now you have to swallow your pride in front
of the Baldwin family and pretend to be ugly just to treat your father and me... I feel heartache for you."
Although Ansel and Mildred had been transferred to Steele Hospital, they still thought the hospital
belonged to the Baldwin family.
"How can you find a boyfriend like this?" Mildred added, her eyes red from choking.
"Mom, why do you keep saying that? I've said several times that the Baldwin family don't want
outsiders to know that I look like Alva. I pretend to be ugly for my work. It saves a lot of trouble..."
Eudora laughed and said.
"That doesn't make it okay!" Mildred pretended to be angry and said, "Your father just lies on the bed.
It's so stuffy here, and I feel bored. I will take him back to my hometown in two days."
How could Mildred not want to let Ansel stay in the hospital for treatment?
After all, she was old, and she and Ansel depended on each other. Mildred was really afraid that he
wouldn't wake up.
But Mildred couldn't bear to see Eudora suffer.
"Mom, if you want to go back, just go back and take a break. I can find an orderly for my Dad here."
"Eudora, why are you so stubborn? End of discussion now."
"Mom..."
"Take some time away from here, and find a boyfriend."
"If I find a boyfriend, will you be willing to let my Dad in the hospital?"
Eudora suddenly understood one more thing: Mildred was worried that she couldn't find a boyfriend
with her 'extremely ugly' face.
The elders in rural areas were less open-minded than those in the city. They hoped that their children
could find a boyfriend and get married as soon as possible.
"Yeah. But you don't have one."
"Who said that? I already have a boyfriend, but I didn't tell you."
"Don't mess with me. Even I can't stand your ugly face. Who will like you?"
"Fine. I'll bring my boyfriend over to see you tomorrow."
Eudora smiled at Mildred, thinking, "Where can I find a boyfriend?"
After coming out of the hospital, Eudora made deliveries, then went to work at the Philomel Club at five
o'clock in the evening.
She put on her security uniform. The security team began to patrol after a meeting in the security
department.
Eudora found Hugh, elbowed him, and said, "Hugh, can I discuss something with you?"
"What's the matter?" Hugh asked.
"Well... Are you available tomorrow or the day after tomorrow? Can you do me a favor?"
"I'm afraid I can't. My godfather is in the hospital. I just asked the manager for leave. I'm going back
tomorrow."
"Okay, then."
Eudora curled her lips and went to find two other close colleagues. But one's wife had just given birth,
and he had to accompany her; the other was having conflicts with his girlfriend and didn't dare to
pretend to be someone else's boyfriend.
Eudora was helpless. She couldn't help but complain to the three of them, "You are all busy. Who
should I ask to pretend to be my boyfriend and go see my mother?"
As soon as she finished speaking, someone suddenly walked up to her and put his arms around her
shoulders. "Pretend to be your boyfriend? I'd love to help."
Chasel appeared out of nowhere. Text content © NôvelDrama.Org.
"Yeah, Mr. Burke can do that."
"That's right, Eudora. Mr. Burke is talented and handsome. It will make you look good to bring him to
see your mother."
"Mr. Burke, help Eudora. We happen to be busy these days."
Eudora's three friends said to Chasel.
Eudora knew that if she took her fake boyfriend to the hospital once, she might have to take him to see
Mildred later. Hugh and her other two friends did have no time.
Chasel glanced at Eudora, frowned, and uttered a tsk. "You really think so little of me. I'm top at
pretending to be a boyfriend. But what's the benefit?"
Eudora couldn't find a suitable person, so she could only agree to Chasel, who 'delivered himself to
her'.
After thinking for a while, she said, "After the matter is done, I'll treat you a dinner."
"Deal."
"Okay. I'll call you at noon tomorrow."
After making an appointment with Chasel, Eudora started to work, and Chasel called a few friends to
sing in the box as usual.
The next day at noon.
Eudora prepared lunch for Mildred and called Chasel before taking the lunch box to leave. "I'm ready to
leave, and I'll wait for you at Steele Hospital," she said.
Half an hour later, when Eudora arrived at the gate of Steele Hospital, she found Chasel in a suit,
neatly brushed hair, and sunglasses, leaning on the car, smoking a cigarette, waiting for her.
Eudora parked the electric vehicle, walked towards Chasel, and complained, "So flashy. My mother can
tell you are a fake at a glance."
