Jilted Ex-wife Billionaire Heiress

She Lost Love, Gained a Fortune 150

Chapter 150 Imaginary Enemy

The fate of the acquisition hung in the balance, with the Langford family vying for more shares and lobbying relentlessly throughout the weekend.

They knew Darya already held 51%, but maybe some of the individual investors were willing to sell their shares to the Langfords, allowing them to retain as much power as they could.

Little did they know, Micah had already transferred his right to buy the last 10% stake to Darya.

Micah's brows furrowed as he watched Darya walk away, sensing her desire to distance herself from him.

Did she hold such deep hatred for him?

Darya grabbed her phone and strode towards the lounge, deciding to clear her mind with a cup of coffee before the meeting.

Just as she turned around, a piercing voice cut through the air, 'Darya McAllister, you've got some nerve showing up here!'

It was none other than her newly-minted enemy, Amelia.

Darya chuckled, a hint of amusement in her voice, 'Last time I checked, I still had the freedom to go wherever

I pleased.'

Amelia's anger only intensified upon seeing Darya's radiant appearance.

It was because of Darya that Starlight was embroiled in chaos, with no one to help her navigate through the

scandal.

Rumours of gambling, plastic surgery, and countless other accusations were spreading like wildfire, impervious to the Langford family's attempts to suppress them.

Once a beloved starlet, Amelia had now become the target of public scorn and even faced criticism from her

own family.

And it was all thanks to Darya.

However, Darya's triumph would be short-lived.

The Langford family was determined to seize control of Starlight's shares.

'Don't get too comfortable, Darya! The shareholders' meeting will reveal who the real winner is,' Amelia spat, her voice dripping with venom.

She crossed her arms. 'Did you know Micah owns a stake in the company as well? I highly doubt he'll give it to you. So prepare for your impending defeat!'

Amelia's words almost provoked laughter from Darya.

The more confident Amelia felt, the greater her eventual humiliation would be. 'Defeat?' Darya's smile brimmed with mockery. 'I've never truly experienced defeat in my life, my dear Amelianoveldrama

Don't get ahead of yourself."

Amelia's rage only fuelled her desire to taunt Darya further.

She stooped to bringing up Darya's most painful memories. 'What's so special about you, Darya? They call you a boss, a rich heiress. But in truth, you're just a divorcee. Even when you managed to marry into the Cavanaughs, you were still cast aside in the end. You're nothing more than someone else's discarded trash Don't delude yourself into thinking that the person who threw you away will come to your rescue. You're only fooling yourself! When Micah helped you at the gala, it was out of kindness and nothing more!"

Darya showed no reaction to Amelia's diatribe.

She didn't need Micah to thrive; in fact, she would thrive even more without him.

She couldn't fathom why Amelia had fixated on such an absurd notion.

Just because Amelia desired Micah, did she assume every woman harboured the same covetousness?

Darya no longer desired to be with Micah; she had moved beyond that.

Her face remained calm and composed.

Gazing at Amelia's furious expression, she couldn't help but see her as a pitiful clown.

Miss Langford, let me remind you that Micah didn't reject me; I was the one who left him. And let's not forget that you underwent plastic surgeries just to please a man, debasing yourself in the process. I can't compete with you on that front. So take it easy. If you want to marry Micah, you have my blessing, truly."

She smiled as she thought of something. 'In fact, I think you'll fit right into that family. Felicia shares your love of gambling. You two would have a lot to talk about."

With those words, Darya gracefully walked away, her heels clicking against the floor as she made her way back to the conference room.

Amelia gritted her teeth, refusing to accept this humiliation.

How could Darya always find a way to belittle her?

She wouldn't let Darya off so easily.

Fuelled by frustration, Amelia rushed forward, determined to interrupt Darya's ascent up the stairs.

With a forceful push, she intended to send Darya crashing to the ground, breaking her legs.

Amelia envisioned the most beautiful CEO humiliated and vulnerable, her cool and composed facade shattered.

To Amelia's surprise, Darya didn't tumble to the floor as anticipated.

Instead, she found herself caught in a warm embrace.

Micah's voice resounded with a cold growl, 'Are you out of your mind, Amelia?'

His icy glare sent shivers down Amelia's spine.

'M-Micah, I...' she stammered, unable to believe his harsh glare was directed at

her.

Darya struggled to break free from Micah's grasp, but with a slight movement, she winced in pain

Micah's concern was evident as he asked, 'Are you hurt?'

Crouching down, Micah examined Darya's left ankle, already swelling up.

Amelia, consumed by jealousy, couldn't believe how much attention Micah was giving Darya.

Before she could plot her next move to humiliate Darya, a figure abruptly appeared before her, slapping her

hard across the face.

'You idiot!' It was her father, Harrison Langford.

His anger was evident as he berated Amelia for causing trouble once again.

The thought of Amelia offending, even hurting, Matthias's daughter made his head

hurt.

He turned his attention to Darya, expressing his apologies and regret for his daughter's behaviour.

Darya, maintaining her distance from Micah, said coolly, 'I'm fine. Let's just get the meeting started."

'Yes, of course.' Harrison had no choice but to comply with Darya's directive, his remorse evident in his respectful tone.

As Darya prepared to leave, she winced in pain, prompting Micah to sweep her up into his arms.

The scene left everyone dumbfounded.

Questions swirled in their minds: weren't Darya and Micah broken up? Why was Micah carrying her like a princess?

Amelia, wearing the most twisted expression of all, realised that her plan had backfired.

Darya squirmed uncomfortably in Micah's embrace, prompting him to ask, 'Can you walk? Your ankle is swollen. I can either carry you to the car and we go to the hospital, or I can carry you into the meeting and we'll watch Amelia get a taste of her own medicine. Your choice.'

'Fine,' Darya said reluctantly, after scanning the place but failing to find her assistant Glen.
