Love In Twilight By Tiny Mountains Chapter 54
Chapter 54
Chapter 54 Stay Away From Joseph Clarissa spent the next three days in the hospital. When she got
discharged, it was already Friday.
Damien picked her up at the hospital, though he banned her from going to work. He told her that
someone would be sending the gown to her later.
In the afternoon, a representative from Promised Fashion Boutique brought over a beautiful gown. It
came along with accessories like earrings and hair clips decorated with pearls.
Upstairs, Clarissa was done preparing hersell. The gown was a lovely pink color, made intricately with
professional hands. It was a perfect fit for Clarissa’s fair complexion, and suited her cheerful and
energetic temperament. “Do I look pretty?” She asked Damien as she stood near the banister, who was
scated on the couch downstairs.
The latter listed his head, only to be greeted by the beautiful visage. Clarissa resembled a bright pearl
that emitted radiant white liglit. In a way, she was like the rising sun.
Damien could feel heat coursing through his body. For a brief moment, he was unable to control
himself.
He recalled having experienced the same feeling six years ago. It happened during the time when that
girl grabbed his hand… He did grab Madelynn’s hand back after that, only to realize that the same heat
was absent from the touch.
He could only look down at his book and reply as calmly as he could. “Yeah.”
Clarissa normally couldn’t care less about her own appearance. She was used to wearing hoodies and
jeans, so when she was suddenly thrusted into a lormal gown, she couldn’t help but feel restricted and
awkward.
She narrowed her eyes slightly, impatience written all over her face.
She felt that Damien’s attitude toward her was one of impatience as well. Then again, they were just
two people who were bound by the marriage contract. No one cared if she was pretty or not.
Thus, Clarissa concluded that asking Damien that question was an unnecessary move on her
part.
“Mrs. Lawrence, this gown seems a bit loose on you,” the representative from Promised Fashion
Boutique commented. “Oh! I got sick a few days ago. Maybe I lost some weight,” Clarissa replied.
“Ah, so that’s the case! I knew Mr. Lawrence would’ve never provided us with the wrong
measurements. Please take the gown off so that I can make some changes to the measurements, Mrs.
Lawrence. I’ll just stitch this a couple of times, and everything will be as good as new!”
Clarissa did as told and returned to her bedroom. She didn’t know who Damien was planning
lopp
to meet, but she had a feeling that it was most likely a stranger.
Thanks to that business meeting, Clarissa had no choice but to reschedule her visit to her mother at
the hospital to Sunday.
On Saturday night, Clarissa encountered the person Damien intended to meet in the Prime
International Hotel. The client was a man about fifty years old. When hic shook hands with Damien, he
presented himself in a very humble manner and kept bowing at Damien while repeating, “Hello, Mr.
Lawrence.” All Damien replied was, “How are you doing?” He didn’t mention that client’s surname at all.
Naturally, Clarissa had no idea who that man was. “This is my wife, Clarissa,” Damien said as a form of
introduction to Clarissa. Clarissa nodded politely at the client, wlio started gushing about how beautiful
and noble she looked.
After everyone took their seats at the table, Damien and the client started discussing business deals.
Clarissa was unable to get a word in.
Left with nothing to do, she could only pile food on her plate and start eating.
At present, Damien seemed to have breached the topic regarding the client’s son. “Why isn’t he here
yet?” “Oh! He said he has something to do tonight, so he’ll be slightly late.” “Does he have a girlfriend?”
Damien joked. “Oh? No, of course not! He has an accounting firm called Great West Accounting Firm,
so he’s very busy. He doesn’t have a girlfriend, sadly. If you know any ladies with a good background,
great looks, and personality, Mr. Lawrence, do introduce them to my son.”
While the client was speaking with Damien, he kept sweating profusely. His forehead shone wetly from
the amount of sweat. The way he acted seemed as if holding a conversation with Damien was the
world’s most daunting task
“Of course,” Damien promised. Clarissa thought, ‘Great West Accounting Firm? That’s the most well-
known accounting firm in the entirety of Genovia! So, his son owns that firm?’ “My wife will be taking
the certified accounting license exam soon.” Damien then directed the topic to Clarissa.
“Oh, is that so? You have a bright future ahead of you, Mrs. Lawrence. How many subjects have you
passed so far?” the client asked.
“Three subjects,” Damien said, answering on Clarissa’s behalf. “That’s impressive! Truly, truly
impressive,” the client continued.
All of a sudden, bis phone started ringing. He picked it up and uttered a room number.
Perhaps his son was about to reach the area.
“Is your son on his way?” Damien inquired with a polite smile.
Whenever he smiled, the corners of his lips would curl upward slightly. He possessed the calmness of
an elite inember of the society, giving him a noble Impression, “Yes. He’ll be here soon.”
A moment later, someone knocked on the door of the private room and entered.
“Dad…” the newcomer first greeted the client at the table. Clarissa paused, so much so that even her
chewing had stopped. It was obvious that she was stunned.
Joseph?!
Apparently, Joseph had noticed hier presence as well.
“Clarissa?” he exclaimed in surprise. Both of them stared at each other, clearly flabbergasted. “Joseph,
you know Mrs. Lawrence?” the client, who turned out to be Joseph’s father, asked curiously.
When Joseph noticed Damien situng next to Clarissa, he hurriedly explained, “Oli! Clarissa… She’s…
She’s one of the students from the certified accounting license training course.”
Joseph took a seat next to his father, feeling incredibly awkward. Meanwhile, Clarissa’s hand was still
frozen in midair. For no reason, it started shivering. Text © owned by NôvelDrama.Org.
She suddenly realized the reason Damien chose to bring her here. It was so he could humiliale both
her and Joseph!
However, why would he choose today of all days?
Clarissa continued eating, but the shock had rendered the food tasteless.
Originally, there was nothing between her and Joseph. Thanks to Damien’s actions, he made it seem
as is there was something going on between them,
It was apparent that Damien planned to use this business meeting to warn Clarissa that she should
stay away from Joseph in the future.
