Chapter 17: Against the Wedding
Chapter 17: Against the Wedding
"Really?" I pretended to be unaware of this.
I did not think that Aunt Nancy was privy to the issues between Phoebe, Leonard, and myself. It was
more likely that she was just telling me about this matter.
How could she possibly know that it was all I had thought about in recent times?
"You know, your grandmother was against this wedding. She's never viewed Gail and Phoebe as part
of our family, but your father was all for it because of the Nell family's status. That's why I won't be This text is © NôvelDrama/.Org.
attending the wedding either."
I had already guessed what was going on in Bell's mind, but Aunt Nancy's refusal to attend was a
happy surprise.
In fact, this was what I had hoped for. I had already set my mind on ruining their wedding, and Aunt
Nancy's absence would only make things easier for me.
After hanging up the phone, I felt a little conflicted. I was not sure whether it was appropriate for me to
use my own methods in getting revenge on the Jones family at this point in time.
However, I knew that Grandma would forgive me for all of this because of her guilt towards my mother
and me.
With this train of thought, I felt a bit more relieved.
Over the next few days, I spent most of my time at home or company. I tried my best to act like nothing
was going on.
In between, Austin came to my company twice, apparently to talk about the project, but I came up with
various reasons to avoid seeing him.
I would not allow Austin's sudden appearance to disrupt my plan.
As Phoebe and Leonard's wedding loomed closer, news started appearing on the Internet about it.
Sometimes, I even heard some female colleagues gossiping about it.
To my surprise, someone had spread the news about certain things that even I was unaware of.
Rumor had it that this union between a match seemingly made in heaven was dotted with scandals.
Phoebe had had a boyfriend while studying in America, but she had dumped him without hesitation
when she had the chance to latch onto Leonard.
Leonard was no saint either. It was rumoured that he had a mistress somewhere.
I wondered whether I could be considered one of them.
This was the way things were. I had never asked Leonard for anything throughout our relationship and
had not even taken a single cent of his money when our relationship ended.
I would probably be the most foolish mistress ever, would not I?
However, I felt that the rumour about Phoebe having dumped her boyfriend for Leonard was most likely
true.
With Phoebe's pretentious personality, it was something that she could do with no qualms. She was an
extremely selfish person, after all.
At this thought, my heart ached a little for Leonard. Phoebe was not someone to be trifled with.
Phoebe and Leonard's wedding was extremely lavish. The banquet hall that took up the whole first
floor of Kylin Hotel had been booked for it and luxurious cars lined the road leading towards the hotel.
May and I had already agreed that I would make my appearance to warm up the show, then she would
show up for the climax.
I made my appearance neither too early nor too late, arriving when most of the guests were already in
attendance. I had deliberately picked a low-cut crimson gown so that I could stand out.
