Part 15 # Andre’s Fiancee
Lara didn’t even glance back; instead, she hastened her steps.
“Sorry, could you wait outside?” Dr. Miriam said with a smile. If it had been Dr. Andre making that statement, Seno wouldn’t have complied. But Dr. Miriam was different. She had an elegant dominant aura, capable of hypnotizing men with her voice unconsciously.

“To ensure the patient’s comfort, Sir,” the doctor continued, escorting Seno out of the treatment room.
Seno swallowed his pride, not wanting to argue further or distance himself more from Lara. He complied reluctantly. The sound of Seno’s footsteps faded away, leaving him outside Lara’s room.
Dr. Miriam returned to Lara’s bedside, once again throwing a smile, and carefully examined her condition more comfortably.
“Next time, please inform the nurse if you want to remove these monitor cables. We have trouble identifying the graphs, okay?” Dr. Miriam said with furrowed brows. Lara often unplugged those cables without the nurses’ knowledge, wandering around. This disrupted the monitor’s tracking, making it unable to accurately measure the baby’s health.
“Okay, Doctor,” Lara said, looking ashamed. She wasn’t comfortable with the cables wrapping around her body, but the doctor’s words made sense.
It was crucial for the nurses to know the graph sequence on the monitor, and the cables connected to Lara’s abdomen should not be unplugged without notification. They needed to remain properly connected to monitor Lara and her baby’s condition. If the cables were frequently unplugged without notice, the monitor’s tracking graph wouldn’t provide accurate information, leading to difficulties in evaluating the baby’s health.
By informing the nurse, they could adjust the graph pattern and ensure the monitor functioned properly. The fetal heartbeat data collected would also remain accurate as it was gathered in the right rhythm.
Lara knew this because she had been hospitalized during a miscarriage at four months pregnant. Her condition was indeed delicate, but for some reason, she couldn’t control her emotions and actions. If Lara wasn’t brought to the hospital quickly, she would undoubtedly suffer from losing her baby.
“How are you feeling today?” Dr. Miriam asked after checking Lara’s body temperature, blood pressure, and everything else that needed monitoring for the day. No specific conditions were found to be endangering, and everything seemed normal.
“I feel better. When can I go home?” Lara seemed impatient to be back in her own home. She wanted to see Bi Yani, her personal servant, and sleep in her own bed without encountering Andre again.
Lara had made the decision to cut ties with her painful past, including meeting Andre. That much was certain.
“I’ll monitor your progress for the next 48 hours. If there are no serious issues, you’ll be allowed to go home.”
“Thank you, Doctor,” Lara said gratefully. Finally, she could go home soon. Lara felt relieved.
Dr. Miriam smiled before returning to her office. Suddenly, she asked about Lara’s personal matters, just small talk.
“Been married long, Ma’am?” she asked.
“Yeah, quite a while now, almost a year, Doctor,” Lara replied firmly. She didn’t seem to hide anything, as she was a straightforward woman. It would be different if the doctor asked about her relationship with Andre; Lara would be confused. However, that too became a sudden topic of conversation.
“Do you know Dr. Andre?”
“Y-yes?” Lara was a bit nervous when Dr. Miriam asked about Dr. Andre. She paused for a moment before choosing her words carefully.
“I do, Doctor. He’s the doctor who operated on me yesterday,” Lara said, biting her lower lip. It seemed Lara was a bit confused in answering that question. But what was Dr. Miriam’s intention in asking?
Dr. Miriam’s previously friendly expression tensed. Veins appeared bluish between her snow-white cheeks.
“Dr. Miriam, is there something you need to say?” Lara asked, noticing the tense expression on the doctor’s face.
Dr. Miriam paused for a moment, trying to act normal. She didn’t realize she had been unprofessional.
Dr. Miriam played with the beautiful gold ring on her left ring finger, indicating she had a significant other, and perhaps they would marry soon. However, Dr. Miriam didn’t pursue the question-more like an interrogation-although her heart screamed to know more about Lara.
“Doctor ….”
A nurse glanced at Dr. Miriam with a hesitant look, knowing that Dr. Miriam had the right to satisfy her curiosity. But this wasn’t the right moment.
“Ah, never mind. I apologize for being intrusive. I’ll take my leave, ma’am,” the doctor said before quickly leaving Lara’s room, followed by two other nurses and an assistant who had finished recording all the patient’s information.
Lara was surprised by the doctor’s response, but she chose not to dwell on things outside her control, especially in her current complicated situation.
Shortly after, Seno entered Lara’s room. With a troubled expression, he looked disheveled and not in a good mood. Closing the door slowly, he avoided startling his wife, who lay with her back to the door.
“Lara ….” he called, but Lara didn’t turn. She remained motionless, like a stone statue on the bed. Seno approached and gently pulled Lara’s arm to make her look at him.
“Darling, I’m sorry,” Seno said softly, his face full of remorse. He had sacrificed his valuable time for his wife, hoping for her forgiveness.
“Sorry for what?” Lara asked rhetorically. She would never forget all the wrongs Seno had done behind her back. She stared into Seno’s eyes, noticing the tremble, questioning his sincerity.
Seno’s voice choked. Accustomed to arrogance, he now knelt for Lara’s forgiveness, squeezing her hand to convey his efforts, but she pulled away, expressing her pain.
As Seno reached for her hand again, Lara felt torn. His words tugged at her emotions, but she remembered his past actions.
“I realize I’ve been very bad to you, and I know you must be very hurt. But please, forgive me, for the sake of our child,” Seno continued, pleading for forgiveness.
Despite her pain, Lara saw a hint of sincerity in Seno’s eyes this time. But thoughts of Olivia, cunning and threatening, lingered, raising doubts.
“Do you promise to repent and not see that woman again?” Lara asked hoarsely.
Seno nodded, vowing to avoid Olivia, except for work-related matters. Lara’s anger flared at the thought of Olivia’s presence in Seno’s company, but Seno explained the legal constraints.
Struggling to trust his change, Lara observed Seno closely. Her heart ached, but she found a glimmer of hope, granting him one last chance, albeit with a warning.
Seno accepted the weight of responsibility, determined to prove his transformation. With a secret agenda in mind, he vowed to work hard, hoping Lara would trust him once more.
In Dr. Andre’s office, Dr. Miriam’s face betrayed worry as she mentioned Lara Selene, perhaps Seno’s first love, stirring questions and concerns.
“So, her? Lara Selene? Your first love, huh?”
