Love’ss 8
Chapter 8
That night, Madelyn had just finished feeding Andrew his dinner when he went to the study with Rowan and another assistant, Jason Lopez. Before they shut the door, Madelyn reminded Andrew not to work past 9:00 pm. Otherwise, she would barge into the study.
Once the door was shut, her phone vibrated. She checked it, and her gaze became cold. She answered it, saying icily, “Hello?”
“Get back here right now!” Amelia Manson’s voice rang out on the other end of the line. She could barely conceal her rage.
Madelyn’s eyes darkened, and she hung up without another word. She headed downstairs, and David approached her respectfully. “Are you going out, Mrs. Miller?”
“Yeah.” Nodding, she checked the time. “Have someone send a glass of honey water upstairs in half an hour.”
A wave of bitterness washed over her as she said that. She couldn’t believe she could still remember so many of Andrew’s habits despite the shit that had happened in her past life. How devastated was he to watch her leave him even though he loved
her with all his heart?
“Yes, ma’am.” David nodded. Madelyn’s command was gentle, but all he could think. about was how she had beaten Elena up.
Madelyn drove to the Garcia residence. Nora Chavez, one of the maids, answered the door. Her gaze became mocking and scornful when she saw Madelyn, and there was also a hint of glee. It was as if she couldn’t wait to see Madelyn get in trouble.
Madelyn was still in the foyer but could already hear Elena weeping in the living room. Amelia gently comforted her, saying, “Alright, that’s enough crying. I’ll make sure to teach her a lesson.”
“Don’t, Mom. Maybe there’s just a misunderstanding between me and Maddie. Everything will be fine once we’ve talked things over. Please don’t tell her off.”
Madelyn listened silently. There Elena was again, pretending to be such a saint. It was amazing how she could keep acting like this despite already getting a beating!
Amelia’s heart ached when she heard that. She was furious to hear Elena still defending Madelyn. “Oh, you silly thing. Why are you still speaking up for her when she’s beaten you blue and black?”
Chapte
Madelyn continued listening, feeling cold all over. In her past life, she genuinely thought Elena was defending her whenever she said these things. The old her had no idea these were choice words Elena uttered to make Amelia and the others think
the worst of her.
Elena easily pushed all the blame on her while making herself look good.
In hindsight, Madelyn had to admit Elena had some skills. After all, Elena was the daughter of a mistress, yet she could make Amelia treat her like her own. In contrast, Madelyn, who was Amelia’s actual daughter, was treated like trash.
Nora shut the door and headed back inside the house. When she saw Madelyn standing in the foyer, she thought Madelyn didn’t have the nerve to head inside. Her tone became even more mocking as she said, “Go inside, Ms. Madelyn.”
Madelyn turned to glare at her, causing Nora to stiffen at the ferocious look.
Amelia turned to look at the foyer when she heard the noise. She became angrier when she saw the ugly look on Madelyn’s face. “Get the hell in here!”
Madelyn met her gaze and snorted, her contempt and scorn evident. This only pissed Amelia off more. She stepped forward, wanting to slap Madelyn.
Unfortunately for her, Madelyn dodged, making her fall to the floor after losing her balance from the force of her actions.
Amelia was thoroughly infuriated now. “How dare you act like this, you ingrate! Are you defying your mother?”
Nora hurried forward to help her up. Once on her feet, Amelia lunged forward to slap Madelyn again. However, she was one step too late once more. It didn’t take long for her to gasp for breath.
“You… You…” She pointed at Madelyn.This belongs to NôvelDrama.Org.
Madelyn’s gaze remained scornful throughout the whole thing. She couldn’t help snickering at how insistent Amelia was on seeking justice for Elena.
“What are you laughing at?” Amelia screeched, wanting to rip Madelyn to shreds. How shameless could she be to laugh at a time like this?
Madelyn chuckled. “You’re the most generous woman I’ve ever met, Madam Manson. You’re probably the first woman ever to defend the daughter of a mistress
like this.”
This was the first thing Caleb Garcia, Madelyn’s father, heard upon entering the house. He had just returned from a three–day business trip. He instantly flew into a rage upon hearing those words. Meanwhile, Amelia almost passed out from the rage.
Elena straightened up on the couch. She had paled when Madelyn called her the daughter of a mistress. Then, she was relieved to see Amelia was not affected by it.
She looked at Madelyn with grievance. “If there are any misunderstandings between us, we can just talk things over. Maddie, how could you say something like that to Mom?”
Amelia’s heart twisted painfully when she heard this. She said, “Don’t listen to her nonsense, Elena.”
“Mom…” Elena started weeping again.
Caleb watched the commotion. He had not believed that Madelyn had beaten Elena when he heard about it over the phone. As far as he was aware, Madelyn had always obeyed Elena despite being a troublemaker. But now, he knew it was true.
Tears filled Elena’s eyes when she saw him. Dad…”
Caleb’s heart went out to her when he heard that. He turned to Madelyn with a fierce look and snapped, “You’re getting more and more out of hand. How dare you hit
Elena!”
Amelia snarled, “Get over here and apologize to her right now!”
Madelyn watched them with a mocking smile. Anyone who wasn’t in the know would think she was the daughter of the mistress. Instead of panicking like usual, she
asked calmly, “What if I refuse?”
Amelia’s temples throbbed at that. “How long more are you going to keep this up? Why did I ever have a daughter like you?”
Madelyn’s gaze turned cold. A hint of smugness flashed in Elena’s eyes as she held. Amelia’s hand and said, “Mom, don’t treat Maddie like that.”
“You’re just too kind, Elena.” Amelia looked at her, her gaze one of pity. There was also a hint of hatred in it.
She could’ve given birth to a son if not for Madelyn. Madelyn had been a troublemaker even when she was still in the womb!
Amelia pushed Elena’s hand away to grab a book and fling it at Madelyn. Elena took the opportunity to pretend to fall against the armrest, smacking her head on it.
Madelyn wasn’t in time to dodge Amelia’s attack, so the book got her on the forehead, making blood trickle down it. However, Amelia merely turned to Elena, whose forehead was swollen from hitting the armrest. “I’m so sorry, Elena! I didn’t mean for this to happen!”
Choppers
Caleb also hurried forward to check on Elena.
Madelyn remained rooted to the spot as she watched Amelia and Caleb worry about Elena. The blood that trickled down her face was warm, but she couldn’t feel it.
Elena clutched Amelia’s shirt, still trying to speak up for Madelyn, “Don’t be so harshi on Maddie, Mom. I’m sure she didn’t mean it.”
Her words only added fuel to the flame. Caleb whipped around to glare at Madelyn.” Are you going to apologize to Elena or not?”
He didn’t seem to see the blood on her face Madelyn couldn’t help mocking herself. What was she expecting after the events of her past life? Did she think she could get her parents‘ love after taking Elena down? Did their love even mean anything?
“Listen to Dad, Maddie. Don’t make him mad! Be good!” Elena feigned anxiousness as she held Caleb back.
Yes, this was what Elena was always like. She had always pretended to be the good cop. In Madelyn’s past life, she was too greedy for Caleb and Amelia’s love to notice any of this.
Now that she no longer cared about that, she wasn’t blinded anymore. Sneering, she asked, “Are you people worthy of my apology?”
“Why, you- Caleb’s expression was murderous as he glared at her. Then, he turned to Nora and barked, “Get me a belt!”
“Dad, don’t!” Elena cried. She pretended to be panicked as she turned to Madelyn. Hurry up and apologize to Dad, Maddie!”
“That’s enough, Elena. Your father has to teach the imbecile a lesson today!” Amelia was furious. She wouldn’t allow Elena to defend Madelyn anymore.
Madelyn watched them icily. Her gaze pissed Caleb off, and he pulled his belt off before Nora could return. He cracked it on the floor, the sound making one subconsciously wince. He glared daggers at Madelyn and growled, “Are you going to apologize?”
She sneered. “Think twice before you act, Mr. Garcia. The person you’re about to whip is not just your daughter–she’s also Andrew Miller’s wife!”
Her address of him was enough to show that she had given up on her relationship with the Garcia family. It was long overdue. She had cared so much about her so- called family in her past life that it eventually led to her and Andrew’s deaths.
