Chapter 3499 This Can't Be!
With a sudden, explosive movement, Dominic grabbed a bloodstained iron staff from the side. His muscles rippled as raw power surged through his body, and in the blink of an eye, he blurred into motion, charging directly at Matthew. "Looks like Dominic's angry now-he's about to use his killing move!" someone in the crowd whispered.
"Right, and look at the bloodstained staff he's holding," another voice added. "That's the weapon he's named after. It was once a black staff, but after countless killings, it's become stained red with blood."
The sound of the iron staff slicing through the air was sharp and menacing. With overwhelming force, Dominic aimed a crushing blow at Matthew's midsection.
But Matthew didn't budge. He stood perfectly still, his gaze locked on the staff as it hurtled toward him.
"Why isn't Matteo dodging?" someone in the crowd whispered, eyes wide with disbelief.
"Is he just a paper tiger, all talk and no action? Has he been intimidated by Dominic's attack?" another voice questioned.
"Shut up! Don't you dare insult Matteo!" Angus, seated in the audience, overheard the comments. His face flushed with anger, and he stood, glaring at those who had spoken.
The hecklers, ready to retort, froze when they saw who was reprimanding them. It was none other than Angus, the influential head of the mining market. They fell silent, muttering under their breath instead of continuing the argument. "Look! You guys, look!" someone exclaimed, their voice laced with excitement.
"Why did Dominic's staff completely miss Matteo?" another person cried in shock.
Suddenly, everyone in the stands was on their feet, eyes fixed on the arena. Dominic's powerful strike, which had seemed impossible to avoid, swept through the air just inches from Matthew's body. "Interesting," Orla murmured to herself. "This Matteo... he's not as simple as he seems."
Seated in the stands, her face partially concealed by a veil, Orla watched Matthew closely, her gaze filled with quiet intensity. She couldn't help but let out a soft sigh, a touch of admiration in her tone. Moments ago, it had appeared as though Matthew had moved, but in an instant, he was right back where he started-creating the illusion that he hadn't moved at all.
Beside her, Toliver's gaze deepened with concern. The man who had once spent three hundred thousand on an unprofitable mine-what was he after?
Orla turned to him, her voice steady
but with a hint of wisdom. "Some things are already set in motion, Toliver. Don't waste your time overthinking them." She paused, letting her words sink in. "All that will do is drain your energy."
Toliver straightened, his expression serious. "Yes, Miss," he replied quietly.
Dominic's smirk faded as he realized his strike had missed completely in the arena. His twisted grin gave way to disbelief, and when the shocked murmurs from the crowd reached his ears, his expression darkened, giving way to pure rage.
Those gasps of surprise should have been his-he should have been in control of the moment.
Dominic's eyes locked on Matthew, his focus sharp. A flicker of something darker crossed his features. He had underestimated this man.
Hidden just above his teeth, a tiny
pill dropped when his tongue
brushed against it. Without
hesitation, Dominic bit down, the pill shattering in his mouth. The taste was painful, and he knew the side effects would be almost

unimaginable. Still, he had paid a
steep price for it-a rare, precious pill forged by a master healer within the Viper Crew.
But it would all be worth it, as long as it meant killing Matthew.
The moment the pill shattered, a surge of potent energy erupted within him. His once-bronzed skin began to glow an unsettling red as if his blood were igniting. Matthew raised an eyebrow slightly. "Is that... the Bloodfire Pill?"
He'd heard of it—a pill that consumed a person's blood to enhance their strength. But something felt off about Dominic's energy. It was too weak. Almost underwhelming.
Could it be a counterfeit?
What do you think?
