Sighing as I walked back to my bedroom after Alexa left, I let myself down on my bed.
I replayed the incidents that happened in my head and couldn’t help but smile.
Wait!
I’m smiling?
What is the actual fvck?
Why would I smile just at the thought of a girl?
Well, she wasn’t ‘just’ anyone.
For a girl to refuse my touch, she was sure something to reckon.
For one, I haven’t met a girl I’d invite to my bed and she refused because…
You know what!
Well to those that don’t, it’s because I’m Anderson Green.
Some that I meet throw themselves at me, but this particular girl didn’t.
Even after standing just a kiss away from her, she refused my seduction and slapped my face.
It wasn’t because I was a sucker at seducing girls, but because she loved her dignity and prided in it.
I love dignified ladies and the ones who prided in themselves and do not throw themselves at guys.
This Alexa had to be special.
I couldn’t treat her the same way I treated other girls.
… The next day …
“Jace, what would you like to eat?” Alexa asked her little brother who was sitting on the sofa in the sitting room.
“Ramen would be nice,” Jace answered.
“Jace, that’s not much good for a healthy diet,” Alexa said.
“When it’s taken every time.” Jace completed, or should I say… Added?
“You eat noodles almost all the time ” Alexa stated.
“Well, that was before.” Jace returned.
“Now, you won’t even have me look at the nylon wrap,” Jace mumbled in an attempt to not let Alexa hear, but deep down… He was hoping she’d hear.
“I heard that,” Alexa growled.
“Well, I hoped you would! You’re legit denying me the feel of relishing my favorite food.” Jace replied sarcastically.
Alexa wished she could spank his butt, but his heart condition held her in check.
“Stop being rude Jace .” Alexa seethed.
“Oh am I? Am I?” Jace asked rhetorically.
“Stop it.” Alexa bit her lip.
“Stop what? I’m not doing anything yet.” Jace rolled his eyes.
“Alright stop!” Alexa said firmly and everywhere went silent.
“I’ll make you your favorite meal! Noodles right? I’ll make your noodles.” Alexa groaned.
“Yaay …” Jace rejoiced and followed Alexa to the kitchen.
After taking just eight steps from the sitting room, they both turned sharply to their left and pushed the door in front of them open.
That was the kitchen.
Alexa brought out a small pot and placed it on a lit stove.
Next, she went to the cupboards and when she started looking inside, Jace spoke up.
“Anything I can help you with?”
“Yes… But I don’t want you to.” Alexa brought up her head, holding a bowl in her hand, and turned to face Jace before walking to the sink pump.
“Why don’t you want me to help you?” Jace asked confused.
“I can’t have you overstressing yourself. I can’t get you money for your surgery yet, but I need you to stay relaxed at all times so you’d be stronger.”
Alexa explained and she turned off the sink water pump and carried the water she’d pumped into a bowl back to the pot on the stove.
“Oh…”
“Yeah. So just sit down on that chair under that counter.” Alexa said as soon as she placed the pot’s lid over the pot.
Jace walked towards the counter and sat on the chair on the left.
The one on the right was for Alexa.
Not that she owned it, but that was her fave place.
He liked that spot, but because she loved it a lot too, he made sure he adapted to the one on the left.
It wasn’t like his sister was a bad person, he just didn’t make her realize or notice that he also loved that spot.
As far as she’d come back home tired and she sank her butt into the chair, and the feel made her happy… He was going to keep it that way.
Sacrificing a thing didn’t hurt or mean a lot to him.
After all, Alexa had sacrificed even more for his sake.
A plate was placed in front of him jolting him back to reality.
“The food… You made it already.” Jace asked startled.
Alexa’s face frowned in confusion.
“Yes. Don’t you like it?”
“No… It’s not that. I mean, I just left your side and sat here just now. How could the noodles be made in just less than a minute?” Jace asked confusion masking his face.
Alexa chuckled.
“Oh, Jace. This is one of your tricks to make me laugh right? I mean, it’s been three minutes already.” Alexa stated.
“Huh?”
“At least, that’s what the cooking timer said,” Alexa said and pointed to the timer ticking away.
Jace looked and sighed.
“Oh.” He said and Alexa nodded.
“I better start eating then.”
“Yes. Eat your meal Hun” Alexa replied and he dug into his food.

After Jace finished eating, I tucked him in bed after making sure he was comfortable enough and left.
I retired to my room and laid down on the bed for a rest too.
My bones were damn tired and rusty.
I had slept with Jace in the hospital yesterday night.
Waking up today, Dr. Stephanie came, checked up on Jace, and said I was free to check him out after three hours.
According to her and I quote…
“Jace’s emotional condition is more stable and healthy now. I don’t know how it happened, because according to the results we got from the oral test we carried out on him, he wasn’t supposed to heal emotionally till tomorrow. But since it’s done, you both can check out by 10 o’clock.”
And yes…
When it clicked 10, we both bade goodbye to Blossom, and I in particular gave her a bunch of kisses and promised to visit her son with gifts.
We left the hospital afterward, with a promise I scribbled on my mind.
‘Heed to all the advice from Dr. Stephanie and the nurse I didn’t get to know her name’.
Well, I’m going to heed them all.
But I flaunted one immediately I stepped out of the hospital’s premises with Jace.
I didn’t drop my phone number.© 2024 Nôv/el/Dram/a.Org.
