Chapter 201
Do I love her?
For someone like Everett, emotions like love were trivial. He was a man driven by ambition, focusing solely on what he wanted.
And what he wanted was Selena as his wife. He craved the comfort she offered after a hectic day, the way she fit perfectly in his arms. Their connection was undeniable. Her soft moans and the adoring look in her eyes as she lay beneath him only boosted his ego. To put it simply, Selena was his prize.
But he knew all too well that women often sought reassurance about their partners' feelings, and Selena was no different in this regard.
Normally, he wouldn't bother with such a question. Yet, in the warmth of their current relationship, he didn't mind playing along. "Of course, I love you."
His deep voice wrapped around her like a warm blanket, and Selena felt tears welling up. She shut her eyes quickly, hoping he wouldn't notice.
She'd loved him for three years, doing everything in her power to win his heart, but it was never enough. Now, just as she was ready to move on, he said he loved her. She had asked, hoping for closure, never expecting this answer. Now, she was completely thrown off balance.
The heart she thought had grown cold was starting to stir again.
Biting her lip, Selena tried to quell the warmth spreading through her.
Oblivious to her inner turmoil, Everett let his hands roam, sending shivers through her body.
Selena snapped back to reality, grabbed his hand and, with a blush, pushed him away. "No!"
Faced with yet another rejection, a flicker of impatience crossed Everett's eyes, but he kept his cool. "What's going on?"
Selena didn't want to spill the truth. Her eyes darted before she blurted out, "I... I'm on my period."
"Really?" His disappointment was palpable. With a sigh, he released her, giving her a teasing nip on the lip before heading to the bathroom. The sound of water soon filled the room.
Selena exhaled a sigh of relief. She knew she couldn't keep dodging him forever. Everett's sexual desires
were strong, and he was clearly drawn to her. It wasn't like
claim she was on her she could
month long.
His encounter with Margot would have to be addressed eventually.
Still, his simple admission of loving her ignited a flicker of hope she knew was unwise. Perhaps there was a misunderstanding
somewhere. She resolved to find the right time to talk it out with him.

Later that night, Jaime called, inviting Everett to the opening of his new bar.Original content from NôvelDrama.Org.
Jaime wasn't into the corporate world. He preferred the fun side of life, which made him keen on investing in the nightlife scene. This was his twelfth bar.
Everett wasn't too interested at first,
ready to decline. But then he noticed
Selena on the couch, tapping away on her laptop. With the night stretching ahead and her current situation leaving things a bit dull, decided, "Alright, I'll see if your
Selena's cool with it."

Jaime's jaw dropped. Since when did Everett need a green light from her to go out? Jaime wasn't fooled. Everett was just flaunting their relationship!
Selena heard this and glanced up.
Everett ended the call, flashing her a laid-back smile as he leaned against the doorframe. "Jaime's insisting I hit the bar. What do you think?"
Selena couldn't have been happier. The way he'd been looking at her all night made her feel like a deer in headlights, always on edge, and she couldn't concentrate on her writing.
