Mission: From Divorcee to Millionaire

Chapter 206

Selena, having already opened the can of worms, wasn't about to hold back now. Her lips curled into a frosty smile. "Last night, were you really at a meeting, or was it something a bit more... personal?" In a flash, everything clicked for Everett. No wonder she had been aloof all morning, dodging his attempts for affection and keeping her distance all day long.

His handsome face turned serious, and he fixed her with a cold stare. "Selena, have you been spying on me?"

Selena didn't bother with explanations. Instead, she shot back, her voice icy, "That whole Jimmy situation, can you honestly tell me you've given me the full story? Are you sure Margot had nothing to do with it?"

"Or did you just serve me the version you wanted me to believe while keeping your precious Margot out of the mess? And you claim there's nothing between you two? Is that what you call 'nothing?'

"Do you see me as your wife or just a fool?"

Her words were like punches, each one landing with emotional weight. She had kept these thoughts bottled up for so long, enduring the pain throughout their three-year marriage. She had decided not to voice them. All she wanted was a divorce to set herself free. None of it would matter then.

But why did Everett keep saying he loved her and wanted to start over? He had beaten Jimmy for her, taken her on a Ferris wheel ride, and celebrated their anniversary.

All these gestures made it seem like he truly cared, like he'd had a change of heart and wanted to be with her. But in the end...

All he really wanted was her body, to have her willingly be his plaything, a bird in a cage.

It hit her then. From the start, he had never loved her for who she was. He only wanted Selena to fit the Mrs. Bennett mold to satisfy his twisted needs.

Everett's dark eyes flickered with emotion, surprised she knew. Irritation simmered within him.

His tone was anything but warm. "Selena, I asked her. Margot had nothing to do with it. It was all Wendy's doing, and I've handled it."

Selena laughed until tears brimmed her eyes. "Do you even believe the nonsense you're spewing?"

His expression hardened, lips pressed into a tight line, saying nothing more.

Selena waited, offering Everett one last chance, but he disappointed her once again. At this stage, Margot's involvement was irrelevant. What mattered was his unwavering protection and favoritism towards her.

Feeling utterly let down, Selena found an odd calmness, realizing there was nothing more to discuss. "I'll sleep in the guest room tonight."

She moved to get up, but Everett

grabbed her shoulders, pushing her back down, his dark eyes boring into hers. "I told you, there's nothing between Margot and me. Stop

Disgusted and unwilling, Selena's anger flared. She scoffed, "Right, 'm the one making a fuss. Margot is always the innocent one, so I'm happy to step aside. You two enjoy your grand love affair!"

Everett thought he'd been patient enough, but she kept pushing. He's already in a foul mood, and her words only fanned the flames of his anger.

He leaned down quickly, silencing her with a forceful kiss, far from gentle. He bit and nibbled her aggressively. His hands tore at her clothes, and he roughly groped her.

Selena, disgusted and unwilling, used all her strength to push him off, her voice filled with disdain. "Get off me, Everett. You're filthy. Don't touch me!"
