Divorce LONG 233
Chapter 233
With that, Maggie no longer looked at him and turned to leave.
Franklin stepped forward, as if to stop her, but just then, his phone rang.
Franklin took out his phone, glanced at the caller ID, and paused. Watching Maggie get into the car, he
answered the call.
Johnny, seeing that Franklin had intended to stop Maggie but then gave up, cast a glance at him and snorted, then turned and got into Maggie’s car.
Johnny hadn’t really understood what Maggie and Franklin had been talking about earlier.
Once inside the car, he asked Maggie, “Where did he want you to go?”
Maggie mentioned the upcoming birthday celebration for Old Madam Wilson.
Johnny wasn’t aware that Old Madam Wilson was preparing for a birthday celebration.
The Gray and Wilson families were on good terms, but with the Wilson family being so elaborate in planning the event, the Gray family should have received an invitation. noveldrama
However, Johnny rarely returned to his family’s main household, so he didn’t know about this.
After hearing what Maggie said, he responded, “It’s good that you’re not going.”
Then, he frowned and said, “Didn’t he already take Julia to the Wilson family’s old residence and
introduce her to the family? He should probably bring Julia to the birthday event as well, right? If he’s bringing Julia, why does he need you to come? In fact, isn’t it better if you don’t go?”
Maggie had thought about this too.
But she believed that she and Franklin would have no more interactions in the future. She no longer cared about his relationship with Julia, and although she found it illogical, she didn’t dwell on it too much.
Johnny paused, then continued, “Could it be that when he brought Julia back to the old residence, the family didn’t approve of their relationship?
He knows that Old Madam Wilson likes you and values you, and maybe he thinks that if you agree to come, the family will finally let go of their prejudice towards Julia, helping them be together?”

Maggie paused, then said, “Maybe.”
Johnny sneered, “No wonder he’s willing to lower his guard and come find you. He’s really calculating”
Maggie didn’t say anything more and focused on driving.
Elsewhere.
After a brief conversation, Franklin hung up the phone.
Yet, Rex didn’t leave.
When he saw Franklin hang up, he paused before asking, “Miss Brown?”
Franklin smiled. “Yes.”
He put his phone back in his pocket and looked at him, saying, “Mr. Hardin, do you have any other plans?
How about we grab a bite?”
Rex paused, looked at Franklin for a moment, then agreed, “Sure.”
Half an hour later.
Franklin and Rex arrived at the restaurant.
Franklin smiled and said, “Yesterday, I heard from my uncle that Mr. Hardin has agreed to meet him in a
couple of days to discuss the new project?”
Rex immediately realized that by “uncle,” Franklin was referring to Julia’s father, Logan.
He had heard before that Franklin paid a lot of attention to the Brown family, but he hadn’t expected him
to know so much about their affairs.
He casually replied, “That’s true.”
Franklin said, “I’m also quite interested in the project. I wonder if Mr. Hardin would mind discussing it in
more detail with me?”
Rex immediately understood that Franklin wasn’t really interested in the project itself.
He was worried that Rex might cause trouble for the Brown family.
Otherwise, Franklin wouldn’t have mentioned Logan and then followed up with that question, but would

have directly asked him about the project.
Cause trouble for the Brown family?
Rex sneered inwardly.
But he didn’t say anything. Instead, he casually replied, “Sorry, Mr. Wilson, but the project is still in a confidential stage, so we can’t discuss too much at the moment. I hope you understand.”
Maggie wasn’t sure what Franklin and Rex discussed.
After having dinner with Johnny, Maggie returned to the company to continue her work.
On Wednesday, she received a call from Grandpa Yves, inviting her to dinner at his place over the weekend. He also mentioned, “Isabella will be there too.”
Maggie paused when she heard this, then replied, “Alright.”
On Friday afternoon, while Maggie was in a meeting, her phone suddenly rang.
She was about to pick it up when the call was abruptly ended.
Still in the meeting, she saw that it was from an unfamiliar number, so she decided not to answer it.
The person who called was actually Jane.
Since Wednesday, Jane had officially joined the Becker Group.
She had called to tell Maggie that she had started working at Becker Group and would be settling down in the capital.
However, after dialing the number, she remembered something that Sophia had mentioned earlier about Franklin’s friends, like Harry, who didn’t like Maggie, and no matter how much Maggie tried to please them, they were unbothered.
Yet, they easily accepted Julia.
If Jane told Maggie about joining Becker Group, Maggie would probably know that Julia was involved in this somehow. Jane realized that Maggie might feel uncomfortable upon hearing this, so she hastily
ended the call.
