Chapter 420
His words caught Willow off guard and made her uneasy.
Instead of responding to him, she asked, "Have you treated your wound?"
He was limping back at the hospital and had a cut on his face, but he stubbornly refused treatment.
A few days had passed since, so Willow wondered if he tended to his injuries.
"You'll know once you meet me," Xavier answered.
Willow said, "I'm going to bed. If you don't have anything else to say, I'm hanging up."
"If you won't come out, I'll call Jasper for a duel. The winner gets to be with you. Don't worry, I'll put my life on the line for this fight." Xavier's voice was low and urgent. He wasn't being impulsive nor said it as a threat.
He was going to use his life to fight for a chance to be with her.
Willow felt a sharp pain in her chest.
The memory of Xavier driving a car that caught fire was still vivid in her mind. He looked like a madman ready to throw his life away.
Willow was sure that he would do something outrageous that put his life at risk again.
He would even challenge Jasper for her sake.
However, Willow would be the one to suffer no matter the outcome.
Jasper would never let her go.
Willow quickly said, "Xavier, don't do anything rash."
"If you don't want me to do it, come out now. I'm downstairs," Xavier said.
The downstairs of her house?
He must be at the previous district!
That district was three bus stops away from where she currently lived.
However, Xavier would have done something crazy if Willow didn't go.
Willow said, "Wait. I'm in the shower now. I'll come downstairs once I'm done."
Willow swiftly changed her clothes after hanging up. She grabbed her bag and keys before rushing out the door to hail a cab to the old district.
Willow had the cab driver stop at the back entrance of the old district.
After she got out, she entered the area and circled around from the back of the building.
A man was leaning against a Bentley parked outside the building. Dressed in black and white sportswear, he had short chestnut brown hair and a slender figure. He looked somewhat desolate with bandages wrapped around his usually warm and pleasant face.
It was Xavier.
Willow hurried over to him.
Xavier was surprised to see Willow coming from the side of the building since he had been watching the building's stairway instead. Willow was wearing a white dress with her dark hair, still damp, falling on her shoulders. Her fair and delicate face was still fresh after washing up, and she looked just like a pure high schooler.
Xavier's gaze faltered as he watched her with affection and pain in his eyes.noveldrama
"Why are you coming from over there?" Xavier asked.
Willow discreetly averted her gaze. "I came out from the back door. Why did you want to see me?"
Willow seemed uneasy as she spoke. Her eyes were scanning the vicinity.
The bandage on Xavier's face told her that his injuries had been tended to, so she could now relax.
Xavier grabbed her slender
shoulders and stared at her earnestly with worry. "How could you wash your hair when there's an injury on your forehead? What fit gets infected after coming in contact with water?"
When Willow came close enough, Xavier noticed that her bandage was already taken off. The egg-sized wound on her forehead was now covered by a reddish layer of scar crust, partially hidden under her hair.
Xavier's heart ached at the sight.
He had come so close that Willow could smell the scent of soap on him.
It was a familiar and unforgettable scent. Willow used to indulge in this scent every time he held her in his arms.
Yet, this scent now became a painful memory that she wished to avoid. Feeling nervous, Willow backed away from the growing uneasiness. She wanted to avoid his touch. "It has already scarred. I was careful not to get it wet when I washed my hair."
What do you think?
