My Mommy Is A CEO

Chapter 1156 Reasonable or Not

Kevin knew he wasn’t being paranoid. Casper was always after him and Nia’s lives. Otherwise, he wouldn’t have hired so many bodyguards.

He could only hope that everything was okay. At 12:10 am, three cars returned to the suburban villa and everything seemed normal at first glance. But Kevin sensed something was off as soon as they got out of the car.

People who valued their lives were always cautious.

“Why aren’t there any lights on in the living room? Go check it out,” Kevin said when he noticed that there were no lights on in the villa’s living room. Besides the ten or so bodyguards with him, there were also twenty others stationed at the villa who rotated shifts and never all rested at once.

Two guards immediately went inside to investigate but after a long time passed without any response or light turning on, Kevin knew something had gone wrong. He broke out into a cold sweat and quickly retreated back to his car shouting,

“Get your weapons ready! We’re under attack!”

At his command, the other ten guards immediately took defensive positions with their weapons ready while cautiously watching over this eerie-looking darkened villa. Meanwhile, Nia remained oblivious to what was happening around her despite being slightly more sober than before. She saw Kevin leaning against her and asked,

“What’s going on? Are we home?”

“Don’t make a sound! Casper’s men are here!” Kevin whispered urgently.

With just one sentence from him, Nia sobered up instantly. Her fear clouded her eyes as she trembled behind him asking shakily,

“What… what is happening?”

“I don’t know yet,” replied Kevin frowning deeply before shouting at everyone else, “Get back in your cars now! We need to leave this place immediately!”

But before anyone could move an inch after hearing his words, another familiar voice rang out,

“Kevin… can you still run away?”

It was Leon’s voice! His heart skipped a beat while his hands unconsciously tightened around his seat belt while Nia behind him shook like a leaf saying disjointedly,

“It’s Leon… Leon has come to kill us…”

“Don’t be afraid, we have people here!” Kevin said with a forced calmness, unwilling to admit defeat. But as soon as he finished speaking, the sound of footsteps came from ahead and figures appeared in front of them. The dull thud of blows and shouts echoed through the air, followed by the sound of heavy objects crashing to the ground.

Kevin and Nia huddled in the back seat. Even though the light in front of the small villa was not bright, he could see that those who had fallen were his own people. At this point, the car had become their last line of defense. Realizing this, Kevin quickly reached down to pull the door handle, but Leon was faster than him and grabbed onto the door. The two men’s eyes met suddenly.

Leon’s eyes gleamed with a sinister light in the darkness of the night. He grabbed the door handle and sneered at Kevin, saying,

“Kevin, how about that? I told you one day you would come to this.”

There was no need to elaborate on the current situation. Kevin was utterly disheartened, as he never expected that despite all precautions taken, he could not withstand Casper’s ruthless and formidable attack.

“Enough talk! What do you want?!” At the last moment, Kevin’s stubbornness was aroused instead. He shouted loudly, but Nia behind him had already curled up into a ball and her face was extremely pale.

“I don’t want to die… I don’t want to die…” Nia murmured unconsciously, accompanied by Kevin’s voice that had already scared her.

No matter how tough Kevin was, he looked ridiculous when Nia led him around like this.

“What do I want?” Leon sneered and waved his hand, signaling for the other brothers to gather around. “On the day you betrayed Mr. Wood, you should have known what the consequences would be.”

“It was him who forced me!” Kevin shouted in frustration before his death. “Leon, don’t think that he’s favoring you now and you can be proud of it. My fate today is your future. Casper always acts decisively. If he goes all the way, none of you who know his true identity will survive! He’s capable of doing it!”

Although Leon had a fierce expression on his face, he actually agreed with Kevin’s words in his heart. He had already experienced this kind of treatment before, without having to wait for the future. However, in order to buy time, he chose not to act and continued to chat with Kevin.

“Stop spreading rumors here. You betrayed Mr. Wood because of Nia, but I didn’t. Don’t compare yourself to me!”

With that, Leon pulled out a pistol and pointed it at Kevin.

Kevin’s breath caught in his throat, and all the courage he had mustered to face the barrel of the gun dissipated into thin air. His legs trembled uncontrollably, rendering him speechless.

Kevin thought he was about to face a bullet, but after more than ten seconds of silence from Leon, he looked closer and realized that Leon was staring in the direction of the road. Kevin became confused and fearful.Property © of NôvelDrama.Org.

But Kevin was not stupid and he wouldn’t remind Leon: Why haven’t you started shooting yet?

Just when the atmosphere became extremely awkward, Leon saw a flash of red and blue alternating colors in the dark. He subtly curved his lips and then lowered his head to say to Kevin,

“Without further ado, today is your day to die.”

Kevin was confused. What did that pause mean just now? While he was still puzzled, a piercing police siren sounded in the distance. What happened next was even more unexpected for him.

Leon shouted out, “The police are coming!” and then he and his brothers scattered like they had lost the battle. Kevin couldn’t figure out what was going on when two policemen came running over to ask him what had happened.

Kevin unconsciously got out of the car and stood bewildered in the front yard. The flashing red and blue lights on top of the police car made it difficult for him to distinguish between reality and a dream.

Everything seemed so reasonable, yet so unreasonable at the same time.

Was he saved? Did Leon and them escape? Did the police come?

Countless questions swirled in Kevin’s mind until the police officer asked him if he was okay, pulling him out of his daze. He stared blankly and replied,

“It’s okay… If you hadn’t come in time, we would have been doomed.”

“Fortunately, we have a patrol mission tonight. Otherwise, your lives would really be in danger. Can you describe the appearance of the criminal just now?” asked the police officer.

Kevin was stunned for a moment before cooperating with the police to conduct an on-site investigation. It was only when he entered the villa that he realized all of his bodyguards had been knocked down. Witnessing this scene, he couldn’t help but break out in a cold sweat. How close had he been to the brink of death just moments ago?
