Never Again Yours (Isadora and Magnus)

Chapter 446

He finished speaking and strode straight into the emergency room.

Outside, the harsh white lights spilled mercilessly across the hallway, every corner thick with the sharp sting of antiseptic. The oppressive atmosphere weighed down like an invisible net, smothering all who waited.

The cold fluorescent glare swept across Victor's face, accentuating his grim expression. His eyes were bloodshot, veins bulging at his temple, and in that moment, all his pain and vulnerability were laid bare.

Suddenly, Victor lost control. He slammed his fist against the wall, over and over, unable to contain the tremors wracking his body. Blood smeared his knuckles from the impact—a raw, shocking red against pale skin.

That was the sight that greeted Kemp when he arrived: Victor frozen in place, his face streaked with tears, blood dripping steadily from his clenched fist. He seemed completely oblivious to the pain, as if nothing around him even existed.

If it weren't for the shallow rise and fall of his chest, Kemp might have thought he'd turned to stone.

Kemp stepped forward, his voice respectful but urgent. "Mr. Fitzgerald, we checked the security footage. Wendy was used to lure Mrs. Fitzgerald to the storage room. Then, someone deliberately opened the cold room door. It was Olivia's nanny-she's confessed."

"She said she felt sorry for Olivia after Mrs. Fitzgerald demanded an apology at the party. She claimed she only wanted to teach Mrs. Fitzgerald a lesson and didn't know she was pregnant. The plan was to let her stay cold for an hour or two, then let her out."

As Kemp finished, Victor's icy gaze flickered, and the chill around him seemed to deepen.

Kemp hesitated. "What do you want to do with her, sir?"

For a long moment, Victor said nothing. Then, in a voice as cold and merciless as the grave, he replied, "Lock her in the freezer. Don't let her out."

Kemp understood immediately: Victor was giving her a taste of her own medicine leaving her to freeze, just as she had done.

He wanted to protest, but one look at Victor's lifeless, almost inhuman expression told him there was no point. Victor wasn't capable of dealing with anything else right now.

They would have to wait until Isadora woke up.

Kemp quietly withdrew.

No one knew how much time had passed before the doors to the emergency room finally slid open.

Victor's lashes trembled as he looked up, fear and desperation etched across his face. The calm he usually wore had vanished, leaving only panic in its place.noveldrama

Finley approached, exhaustion

weighing down his steps. He spoke

slowly. "Isadora's condition has

f

stabilized for now. The next few hours are critical. If she wakes up tonight, her baby should be safe. But if she doesn't..." He trailed off, the unspoken words hanging heavy in the air. If she didn't wake up, they could lose everything.

In the private hospital room, Victor sat quietly by the bed. He gazed hungrily at the

woman lying there, gently pressing her cold hand to his cheek.

Isadora's face was drained of color, her lips ghostly pale, her delicate fingers icy and unresponsive.

Victor's eyes were dark, fixed on her

unmoving features. His Adam's apple bobbed as he swallowed, his voice rough and unsteady. "I haven't even proposed yet. Aren't you curious what the proposal would be like?"

The room was silent, not a sound in reply.

Isadora's lashes rested peacefully against her cheeks, casting faint shadows as

she slept on, oblivious.

Victor gave a bitter laugh, his eyes hollow with grief. "Isadora, you really are cruel."

He leaned closer, his voice a whisper meant for her alone. "But it's all right. If you don't want to stay in this world, then I'll go with you."
