Chapter 43
Chapter 43:.
Nora was surprised.
She, who was checking Mrs. Hunt’s various health indicators, froze. She slowly lowered her head and immediately saw the boy who always looked familiar. He was looking at her.
He was wearing a mask and a cap, so you couldn’t clearly see what he looked like. However, his familiar eyes were full of familiar love and pleading.noveldrama
Nora’s mind suddenly went blank. Some kind of thought was about to flash through her mind, but it was at that moment that another machine sounded an alarm.
Saving the patient was what mattered most at that moment.

She refocused on the situation in front of her and looked: Mrs. Hunt’s blood pressure had risen a little.
Tina also rushed in at that moment, and it was then that she finally noticed Nora. She put on a mask and frowned as she asked, “Who are you? This is the ICU room. Please leave immediately.”
“Miss Smith is here at my request.”
Shortly, Justin also entered the room. He ordered, “Have her participate in the rescue efforts.”
Tina paused for a moment and a sharp look appeared in her eyes. However, she suddenly thought of something and nodded and said, “Okay, sure.”
The room entered another busy period.
Justin took Pete with him and left the room.
Nora wisely stood off to the side.
Tina suddenly looked at her and asked with sarcasm and disdain, “Sodium nitroprusside, Dr. Smith?”
Sodium nitroprusside was the most basic blood pressure-lowering drug.
Nora nodded.
Tina quickly injected Mrs. Hunt with the drug and stabilized her condition again.
After reading the charts, looking at the latest CT scans and getting an idea of the patient’s condition, Nora finally left the room with Tina.
Tina was in the lead. As soon as she left the room, she saw Justin striding towards her. She removed her mask and, with a solemn look on her face, was about to speak when Justin walked past her and addressed Nora. He looked nervous as he asked, “Is it possible to operate?”
Tina quickly moved ahead of Nora. She said, “Mr. Hunt, Mrs. Hunt’s current condition is very complicated. She has high blood pressure, multi-organ failure and it is affecting her heart badly. If she undergoes surgery now, even if Anti were close, there will only be a 30% success rate if we cannot protect her heart.
There is a 70% chance that the patient will die in the middle of the operation. In addition, the operation is also very traumatic for the patient. Even if she is lucky enough to survive, her heart would be damaged, and she may only have half a year left. Dr. Smith, am I right?”
His analysis was very reasonable. Nora nodded.
When Tina saw that at least she still had some self-awareness, she paid no more attention to him. She looked at Raymond and the others standing nearby, suddenly lowered her voice and said, “However, I have a safe suggestion, Mr. Hunt.”
Justin finally looked at her.
Tina lifted her chin slightly and said unhurriedly, “As you know, I am a student of Mr. Myers, a master of traditional alternative medicine techniques. I am also familiar with some of these techniques. As a matter of fact, I can use acupuncture to help Mrs. Hunt temporarily regain consciousness.”
“Temporarily?” Justin puzzled.
Tina had both hands in the pockets of her white lab coat and her straight hair was pulled back behind her head. At almost 30, her age made her look reliable but also feminine. Her voice was even and soft, which made people trust her.
“Yes, I can use acupuncture needles to forcibly break the blood clot in your brain so that you temporarily wake up. This is the commonly known phenomenon where one experiences a brief period of good health before their demise. However, it may only last for one day after waking up. After that, she…”
Justin’s eyes suddenly widened and he pursed his lips tightly.
When Tina saw that he understood what he was saying, she said slowly, “Mrs. Hunt’s condition is such that if you operate on her now, even if she comes out well, she will only be able to last half a year after using the best medication. If the operation fails and she does not regain consciousness, judging from her present condition, she will only be able to live another two months.
“But if you accept my suggestion, Mrs. Hunt will be able to wake up immediately and clear Pete’s name. You wouldn’t want him to be slandered for life, would you?”
Nora, who had been beside her all this time, was puzzled.
Doctors should be benevolent.
Yet his suggestion amounted to murder.
She lowered her cat-like gaze slightly to hide her contempt.
As the head of America’s number one family, Justin was a ruthless and domineering man. Tina’s suggestion was indeed the best thing for his son.
The idea had just formed in her mind when she heard Justin’s cold warning. “Dr. York, your duty is to the patient.”
Repressed by his aura, Tina immediately lowered her head and said, “My apologies, Mr. Hunt. I’ve watched Pete grow up, so I’ve ended up too preoccupied and misread my priorities.”
Justin paid no further attention to her. He asked Nora, “Mrs. Smith, is surgery possible or not?”
These words were something Nora had heard countless times from patients or family members. However, the man’s voice was as deep and rich as the timbre of a cello, which made her mood improve for some inexplicable reason.
The corners of Nora’s lips curved upward slightly and she slowly uttered, “Yes, it is.”
Then she even added an extra line as consolation for the narcissist in front of her, “The success rate is 99%.”
The remaining 1% he attributed to force majeure.
After all, what would happen if an earthquake suddenly occurred?
“Dr. Smith, it must be a hoax.” Tina said, “Mr. Hunt, as Mrs. Hunt’s doctor, I must tell you that the success rate would only be 30% even if Anti were here. You must not let her deceive you.”
However, Justin did not seem to have any doubts about her words. He immediately ordered, “Prepare the operating room.”
Seeing that he wasn’t listening to her at all, Tina tried to calm down. Then, she secretly scoffed, “That doctor thinks too much of herself! She’s just looking to get herself killed!
Let’s see how Mr. Hunt copes when Elder Mrs. Hunt dies in the middle of the operation.
By the time the operating room was ready, Lily and her other assistants had arrived.
There was no way she would use outsiders for such a difficult operation, of course.
Nora entered the room after changing into her surgical gown in the sterile room.
Lily complained quietly, “The patient is very advanced in years, Anti. The biggest problem is not the head but the heart. Surgery is not recommended in her case, why did you agree to it?”
“I’ll take care of the heart.”
Nora took out needles and pierced the old woman’s heart with them with speed and precision, thus sealing and protecting her cardiac meridian.
Her feline eyes sparkled.
Senior surgeon was just a title the others had given her. No one knew that she was actually more skilled in alternative medicine.
Five hours later.
An exhausted Nora removed her surgical gown and exited the operating room.
Since she had been drugged the night before, she was a little low on energy today. She leaned back on the couch in the sterile area and closed her eyes. In her daze, the familiar voice rang in her mind again, “Mom, save great-grandma!”
Those eyes and that voice were so familiar to her.
Nora awoke with a start. She hesitantly stepped outside and immediately saw Justin, who had been waiting outside the whole time.
The man was leaning against the wall. When he saw her walk toward him in a rare show of emotion, the corners of her lips curved a little. Even the beauty mark in his eye seemed to smile.
And yet she denied having feelings for him.
That scorching look in her eyes at this moment was so passionate.
As his imagination ran wild, the woman pounced on him and asked, “Where’s your son?”
Justin was puzzled.
