Chapter 46
Chapter 46:
Quinn stared at Pete. Then, he rubbed his eyes and looked at him again. Even the wrinkles on his face couldn’t hide his surprise.
Over the past five years, although he hadn’t seen Cherry in person, they often had video calls. However, people always looked a little bigger and fatter in the videos than in real life. As a result, the child in front of me ended up looking a little smaller and thinner than Cherry.
But her facial features were virtually identical to Cherry’s.
Pete immediately realized something with a start when Quinn exclaimed Cherry’s name. Her small figure took a step forward. With his back to Justin, he looked up and asked, “Did you mistake me for someone else? Children often look alike.”
Pete looked at Quinn as he spoke.
Sensing the look he was giving him, Quinn reacted quickly. He touched his beard and said with a cough, “Yes, I must have been mistaken.”
Deep down, however, he was puzzled. He had been on a video call with Cherry only a moment ago. How had he suddenly become the son of Irvin’s disciple in the blink of an eye?
… Son?
Quinn looked down suddenly. He pointed to Pete and asked Justin, “Is he your son?”
Justin, who was in the dark, was also confused by the conversation between the two. But when he heard her question, he nodded and replied, “Yes.”
Quinn swallowed in disbelief and looked at ‘Cherry’ again.
She looked so much like Cherry… Could it be that…?
Noticing her hesitant and contemplative look, Justin took the initiative to explain himself. He said, “Mr. Quinn, Pete is my son and should, by rights, get into the Irvin School of Martial Arts. But when I thought about it, I discovered that my teacher’s martial arts are not suitable for Pete because they are too feminine. The Quinn School of Martial Arts style is more masculine and more presentable, so I hope they can accept my son as a disciple.”
The Irvin School of Martial Arts style tended to be more feminine and the disciples also tended to use insidious tricks when fighting. They were famous for being unpredictable, insidious, cunning and taking the enemy by surprise.
On the other hand, the Quinn School of Martial Arts practiced the way of masculinity. The disciples’ strength and speed were trained through hard work and most of them were men.
Pete was abnormal enough. If he became even more feminine …. Justin was too afraid he would grow up wrong. Better that he take the path of masculinity and train his psyche. That way, he might be able to straighten him out.noveldrama
But as Justin said that, he noticed Quinn looking at his son with an unfathomable expression.
His eyebrows drew together and his deep-set eyes shone with determination and resolve. He said, “Mr. Quinn, if you are still reluctant, then I will defy the school. You can decide the rules. If I manage to win by chance, please accept Pete as a disciple.”

The Quinn School of Martial Arts had an unwritten rule: if someone succeeded in his challenge to the school, then he would satisfy a condition set by the other party, as long as it was not against one’s morals.
In the last century, no one had succeeded in challenging the school. This demonstrated the Quinn School of Martial Arts’ standing in the martial arts world.
Beside him, Howard gasped when he heard what he said. Did he even know where they were right now!
There was the Quinn School of Martial Arts! They could drown him with just the number of people.
Justin was really doing a lot for the sake of that useless little guy! But given his small form, how could Lord Quinn accept him as a disciple?
As soon as he thought about it, however, he saw that Quinn was acting as if he hadn’t listened to Justin at all. He merely asked with emphasis, “Are you sure it’s a boy, does it have a small penis?”.
Justin was puzzled.
What kind of strange question was that?
Pete’s expression also darkened. He introduced himself and said, “Grandpa Quinn, my name is Peter Hunt. You can call me Pete. I’m male and a c-h-i-c-o.”
He practically spelled the word ‘boy’ through gritted teeth.
When he said that…
“Hahahahaha!”
Quinn lifted his head skyward and let out a laugh. The way he was looking at Pete was as if he had just found a rare treasure. He didn’t expect to find the son Nora had been looking for these past five years!
Besides, it was obvious at a glance that the boy was in excellent shape and well suited for martial arts practice!
She told Justin: “I’ll take your son. We’ll start practicing today. You can go now.”
Justin was puzzled.
Hesitation flickered in his deep-set eyes.
Seeing him motionless, Quinn frowned. He asked sharply, “What, you don’t trust me?”
“No, that’s not what I meant.”
Justin took a step back.
Quinn was a well-known figure in the martial arts world. There was no way he was messing with a kid. If he said he was taking him on as a disciple, that meant he really was.
Quinn grabbed Pete by his clothes and was about to take him with him when Howard stepped forward. He said, “Mr. Quinn, my name is Howard. I’ve been admiring you for a long time. I’m also here to join the Quinn School of Martial Arts.”
Quinn returned his gaze and looked him over. He scanned him up and down before showing a hint of disdain. “What makes you think you can join us?”
Howard was taken aback.
Seeing that he couldn’t answer him at all, Quinn turned and went inside.
A disciple of the school was about to close the door when Howard suddenly cried out crestfallen, “Mr. Quinn, why do you prefer to accept that weakling instead of me?”
The disciple curved his lip and slammed the door shut. Hmph, did he think it was that easy to get into his school?
Howard was speechless.
He touched his hooked nose with a puzzled look on his fierce countenance. “Why would Mr. Quinn possibly be interested in Pete? And he’s even asked him if he’s got a …. cough, surely he’s not mentally ill, is he?”
Justin looked at him in disgust. “I think you’re the one who’s mentally ill.”
Howard, however, humbly asked him for advice. He said, “As stupid as I am, there’s no way I’m stupider than Chester. But I really don’t understand Mr. Quinn’s actions, can you tell me why?”.
Justin turned around and kept walking, leaving behind only three mysterious words, “Think about it yourself.”
To be honest, he didn’t know either!
At the Quinn School of Martial Arts.
In the middle of the wide hall, Quinn looked at Pete greedily and said, “Hurry up and acknowledge me as your master, son of Nora! After that, we will be master and disciple.”
He was very anxious, lest what he already had in the bag disappear…. His little disciple!
Pete stared at him. Then he nodded and said, “But can you agree not to tell Mom for now? Cherry and I have already agreed to surprise Mom.”
It was still two days before Great-Grandma woke up.
Pete hoped his mother might be able to relate to the tyrant a little more again. What if she suddenly found some silver lining in him?
Quinn touched his beard and said, “No, I can’t.”
Pete calmly replied, “In that case, I won’t recognize you as my master.”
“…”
Quinn frowned. “Hmph, you think you can threaten me with that? Even if you don’t acknowledge me as your master, just because of the fact that I found you, The Sleepyhead will still agree to let Cherry acknowledge me as her master just to express her gratitude!”
A puzzled Pete asked, “Who is The Sleepyhead ?”.
“Your mother.”
Pete was speechless. He suspected that the old man was actually cursing her.
After an impasse of about ten minutes, footsteps were again heard coming from the door. Then, Cherry’s voice rang out, “Grandpa Quinn, I’m here!”.
Quinn immediately ran outside. When he saw Nora, he excitedly exclaimed, “Nora! I’ll tell you a secret if you let Cherry recognize me as her teacher.”
