Chapter 67
When I interrupted Kourtney, she raised her head and looked at me with teary eyes. Mira could no longer stand it and said, "Actually, a lot of companies have these kinds of unspoken rules where new interns are ordered around by others. When I interned at another company in the past, it was the same..."
Lindsey nodded. "This has indeed become an unspoken rule in the industry."
Everyone would treat interns like errand runners. At the mention of that, who had never experienced such things during their internships? If others could overcome it, why couldn't someone else handle it?
My expression darkened. "This isn't a rule set by the company. It shouldn't exist."
Kourtney had never mentioned her work to me before. Whenever I asked her about it, she would say that everything was going great.
However, after seeing what happened today, I realized that Kourtney might not be having as good of a time working at the company as I had expected.noveldrama
I looked at her. "The company won't fire you just because you won't run errands for them. You just need to finish your tasks. You don't need to care about other matters."
Kourtney nodded. "I-I got it. Thank you."
Her voice was soft, but I could tell that she was still sad. With a sigh, I said, "Go ahead and eat. If you don't, your food will really turn cold."
After lunch, Kourtney returned to her team. On the other hand, Mira, Lindsey, and
I returned to my office. I was still thinking about this issue.
"Wherever there are people, there will be fights and schemes. This can't be avoided." Lindsey seemed to have sensed what I was thinking and comforted me.
"But that doesn't make it right."
Lindsey glanced at me and smiled. "You're right. It isn't a good thing."
"But how can we solve this? Like today, although it might seem that you've helped her, she'll still have to be confronted with her team leader's orders when she returns to work. No one can change that. You can't keep watch over them forever."
Lindsey started from the bottom, so she understood where I was coming from and believed that I was a great superior. Nonetheless, good intentions alone couldn't solve deep-rooted problems most of the time. Situations like this couldn't be completely eliminated, and I couldn't protect Kourtney forever.
"Lindsey, are you implying that I should act as if I didn't see what happened and ignore it?"
At that, Lindsey nodded. "If you can't think of a way to solve the root problem, I suggest you ignore it. You'll only cause more harm to her."
I got up immediately and said, "Find out which department she's in. I'm going to go over now."
"Mr. Ranford."
Lindsey sighed, but I didn't listen to her and strode out of the office. "I have to intervene!"
Kourtney was currently working in the marketing department, and Rachel Livingston, the woman from the cafeteria, was her team leader.
When Lindsey and I arrived at the marketing department, Kourtney was being ordered around. Meanwhite, Rachel and the few lackeys sitting next to her were while

watching Kourtney run errands.
I called the head of the HR department and walked over directly. "The few of you are bullying a colleague. People like you don't belong in the company. Go and collect your final paychecks from the finance department. You don't need to come in for work anymore."
None of them expected me to be so decisive. When I told them they were fired right away, their faces turned pale from shock.
"We didn't bully her. We only made her run errands to grab some documents."
"That's right. She doesn't know how to do anything. If we give her important tasks, she'll just mess them up. So, we can only let her handle these minor tasks."
"We didn't beat or scold her. How is this considered bullying?"
The few of them defended themselves. When they saw Kourtney, who was standing by the side with a stunned expression, they quickly pulled her over. "You tell him. Did we bully you?"
What do you think?
