Chapter 627: Chapter 419 You Must Try to Understand Your Man_1
Dad, Mom, you must somewhere in this world thinking about me the same way I miss you! I’m sure! I know it, you definitely are!
Xia Zhen noticed Nanxi lost in thought and quickly asked, “What’s wrong?”
Nanxi shook her head, “Nothing, Mom, I, I’m fine.”
Xia Zhen nodded, “That’s good! By the way, how have you been feeling lately? Are there any discomforts?”
“Ah?” Nanxi calmed down and shook her head, “No, I’m good.”
“Well, it’s good if there’s nothing. Nanxi, you’re still young, and it’s not good if you’re weak. For now, you can put everything else aside, and the most important thing is taking care of your health! And, about having a child, I may have been a bit too eager before, don’t worry about it, don’t put too much pressure on yourself, it’s all a matter of fate. When it’s meant to come, it will come naturally, now, as long as you and Yinchu are good, and there isn’t any chaos, I’ll be satisfied, understand?”
Nanxi replied, “I know, Mom.”
Xia Zhen gave a few more reminders before ending the conversation.noveldrama
Nanxi continued picking vegetables, her melancholy changing to desolation because of Xia Zhen’s words. In fact, she very much hoped to bring a new member into the Lu family.
It would be best if she was already nurturing a child in her belly at this very moment.
The child could be like her, or even better, like Lu Yinchu!
He should grow up healthily, be polite, have a sweet smile, a good voice, and most of all, be a warm-hearted and kind person…
Before dinner, Li Weihuan arrived at Lu Family’s house, apparently, he was summoned by Lu Yinchu’s phone call.
Li Weihuan entered the living room just as Nanxi was coming out from the kitchen.
Seeing Li Weihuan again, Nanxi felt different. It was because she had experienced his past suffering and difficulties, and she had realized how cruel she had been. The feeling of guilt in her heart deepened.
At this moment, they both exchanged glances. Nanxi wanted to say something, but before she could open her mouth, Li Weihuan had already walked past her and into the room.
Nanxi stood there, feeling lost for a while. After standing there for quite a while, instead of going to the living room, she turned back to the kitchen.
“Why did you come back?” Xia Zhen had told Nanxi to rest, and she was surprised when she saw Nanxi come back.
“Well, I thought about it, and I thought I should take this opportunity to learn some cooking skills from you, Mom. I can’t pass up this opportunity so easily!”
Xia Zhen laughed, “If you want to learn, you don’t need to be with me. Yinchu’s culinary skills are pretty good too, not less than mine. When you have time, let him teach you …”
With that, Nanxi ended up avoiding the situation until it was time for dinner!
At the dinner table, it was mainly the men who spoke. With the old man present, Lu Wenming couldn’t be too stern, but he didn’t think highly of Li Weihuan’s engagement.
Li Weihuan didn’t speak much, like he was sincerely accepting the criticism, and Lu Yinchu was quiet too, occasionally serving food to Nanxi.
When Xia Zhen heard her husband criticizing Li Weihuan incessantly, she couldn’t help but interject, “If both kids like each other and want to get engaged, then let them do it. Weihuan is already twenty-five, he is not a child, do we really want to wait till he’s thirty before he settles down? By then, you’ll be the ones getting anxious…”
After speaking, she even gave Lu Wenming a glance.
Lu Wenming was speechless!
Lu Qingtian giggled on the side, “Little sister-in-law, did you see that? My mom is my dad’s nemesis!”
“Be quiet, young lady, what nonsense are you talking about?” Lu Family Chief couldn’t keep a straight face and scolded his daughter.
“I’m just telling it like it is!” Lu Qingtian retorted, then went back to eating her chicken wing.
The mood at the dinner table eased up a lot after Lu Qingtian’s playful banter, and the meal was finished on a much lighter note!
After dinner, Nanxi went upstairs with Lu Qingtian to tutor her. The men stayed downstairs and chatted.
At about 9:30 PM, Nanxi returned to her bedroom. Once she had freshened up, she got into bed and started playing with her phone, unaware of what was happening outside.
In truth, Nanxi didn’t have much of an opinion on Li Weihuan getting engaged. She didn’t oppose him getting engaged or even married, but she hoped that the girl would be the one he loved, someone he wanted to spend the rest of his life with.
She had betrayed Li Weihuan before, but she didn’t want the outcome of her betrayal to be Li Weihuan giving up on his life and living in chaos. She hoped that he could be happy in the future, that he could be loved by a girl and that he would also love that girl. She hoped that the girl was accepted and liked by his family, and most importantly, that she would not betray him like she did!
Close to ten in the evening, the door to the room creaked open and Lu Yinchu, dressed in a white shirt and black trousers, strode in.
On seeing him, Nanxi sprung up from the bed and asked, “How did it go?”
Lu Yinchu’s expression was stoic as he answered, “Weihuan insists on getting engaged. Nothing can sway him!”
This statement immediately caused Nanxi to furrow her brow.
“Why? Don’t you want Weihuan to get engaged?” Lu Yinchu asked as he approached her, bending over to look into her eyes.
Kneeling on the bed, Nanxi reached out to wrap her arms around Lu Yinchu’s neck. Her delicate face nuzzled against his throat as she uttered softly, “Lu Yinchu, I do want Weihuan to get engaged, but I don’t want him to do so just for the sake of it. Do you understand what I’m trying to say?”
Lu Yinchu pulled Nanxi’s slender waist in close, holding her feather-light frame as he sat on the bed. He sighed, “Of course I understand. But Weihuan is an adult. It’s not that he doesn’t comprehend certain truths; he just chooses not to. Also, what’s crucial now isn’t whether or not he is going to get engaged, but whether he’s capable of bearing the consequences that follow. These are things we can’t assist him with…”
Having heard his words, Nanxi became even more worried. She gazed at Lu Yinchu’s handsome face, her voice gentle as she asked, “Lu Yinchu, you’ll help him though, won’t you?”
“Sure… of course I will,” he assured, his lips brushing against her cheek as he spoke. “Why are you asking, are you worried that I won’t support him?”
“No…” Nanxi shook her head.
“No?” Lu Yinchu questioned, his eyes holding a deeper intensity as he stated, “It seems to me you still don’t fully understand me.”
His voice dropped to a low murmur as he addressed her, “Little Nanxi, from now on, you need to try and understand your man… Let’s start by getting yourself familiar with his body, yes…”
…
The next day, the weather wasn’t so great. Having woken up to awoke to a slight drizzle in the morning, Nanxi, now in the Lu family home, felt too anxious to give in to her usual tendency to sleep in. By seven o’clock, she was up and dressed.
Lu Yinchu woke a few minutes after her. Sitting on the bed, he watched Nanxi dart around the room, quipping, “I haven’t seen you this industrious at home!”
Nanxi retorted, “When we’re at home, you’re not usually this lazy!”
Lu Yinchu chuckled, “I’m off work today. After breakfast, I can go with you to visit your grandmother and uncle!”
Nanxi turned around, her face lit up with joy, “Really? Are you going to accompany me to visit grandma and uncle?”
Firmly, Lu Yinchu nodded, “It’s Mid-Autumn Festival soon, our first since getting married. So, I need to pay my respects to your grandmother as her grandson-in-law!”
“Alright, then,” Nanxi said, “We can bring her something that she likes to eat, oh, she loves the apple tarts from Uncle Xiang’s place, we’ll pick some up on the way!”
“Apple tarts? Where can we get them?”
“West Street…hm, that’s a bit far!” Nanxi looked a little disappointed, it was a shame, her grandmother loved those tarts!
“That’s fine, we’ll be driving so the distance isn’t a problem. We’ll head to West Street to buy some!”
“Really?” said Nanxi, clearly delighted. “Then, Lu Yinchu, get up now, stop dawdling, or we won’t have enough time!”
“Uh… Yeah, sure,” Lu Yinchu responded, his voice rising, “Then, could you help me get dressed?”
“What…?” Nanxi retorted, dumbfounded by his cheeky request.
“Hurry up, if we’re late we won’t be able to go!” Lu Yinchu urged her again.
“…” Was this a threat?
Nanxi looked over at Lu Yinchu, who was still half-awake with his bare upper body showing. She hesitated, then slowly walked over to him.
Lu Yinchu’s lips curled into a smile. He spread his arms and stretched out his muscular wrists. His fair skin was covered in faint red marks, the fruits of her labor the night before.
“Go on…” Lu Yinchu leaned back, a look of enjoyment spreading across his face.
Nanxi squinted her almond-shaped eyes, gave a small smile, stretched out her hand, and swiftly pulled the covers away before swiftly darting across the room.
She looked over to Lu Yinchu, who was sat on the bed, wearing only his underwear now that she’d stolen the covers. Raising an eyebrow, she challenged, “The covers are confiscated. Lu Yinchu, I suggest you get up quickly! Otherwise, I’ll ask mom, dad, Qingtian, and grandpa to come and have a look!”
Lu Yinchu: “…”
