Deasy continued to observe. She watched as Lucas, engrossed in playing with Jonas, interacted with him before heading off to work.
This was indeed a routine that her husband always followed. No matter how busy or tired he was, Lucas made it a point to find time to play, chat, or carry Jonas around.
The same applied to how he treated Deasy. Regardless of how occupied he was, Lucas always made an effort to give her attention.
This morning, after playing with Jonas, Lucas still found time to have breakfast with Deasy. Instead of being overly dramatic, when Deasy asked to be fed, Lucas readily complied with his wife’s request. This is property © of NôvelDrama.Org.
“Luc… Are you still angry?”
Deasy intentionally inquired. Since the incident where Lucas had caught her engaging in a conversation with Joseph, her husband seemed deliberately silent.
Yes, Deasy was aware that what she had done was a grave mistake. However, she had apologized repeatedly.
Although he continued to serve her as usual, Lucas seemed reluctant to engage in conversation with her. This made Deasy feel uncomfortable and conflicted.
“Lucas Orion Morales,” Deasy called out once more. She paused her meal and stared directly at Lucas. “How long are you planning to keep ignoring me like this?”
Lucas looked up. He set his spoon down and responded casually, lacking enthusiasm for small talk. That’s why he chose not to react too much.
“You’re asking how long? Until you realize that what you did the other day was excessive.”
“Oh God,” Deasy sighed deeply. As mentioned earlier, she had apologized numerous times. She had tried to improve herself, but Lucas still refused to accept her sincere apologies. “I’ve already apologized to you multiple times, Luc.”
Lucas nodded. He did not deny his wife’s statement. In the evenings following the incident and even today, Deasy had apologized to him countless times.
However, Lucas still felt resentful. From the beginning, Deasy should have realized that her actions were not appropriate for a married woman.
Lucas was irritated by how casually Deasy praised another man’s good looks. Moreover, Deasy seemed overjoyed when her ex-boyfriend flirted with her. It was as if the compliments Lucas had given her all along were insufficient.
“I know you’ve apologized multiple times.”
“And then what? You don’t want to forgive me?”
Lucas curled the corner of his lips. He smiled and responded nonchalantly.
“I forgave you from the start. But I still can’t help but remember what you did.”
Deasy sighed in frustration once again. For heaven’s sake, Lucas’s attitude this time was exactly like that of women going through PMS. On one hand, he seemed forgiving, but on the other, he found it difficult to forget her past actions.
“Oh, come on, Luc. What’s the difference between being forgiven and being ignored? I’m human, Luc. I’m your wife. Why do we live together if you’re going to treat me like this?”
“The important thing is that I’m still taking care of you and paying attention to you, right? I even keep you company when you sleep.”
“But it’s pointless if I keep talking, and you don’t accept it.”
“That’s nothing compared to what you did the other day.”
“Oh, Lucas. How many times do I have to emphasize that there’s nothing going on between me and Joseph? I admit I was wrong for overreacting when I accidentally bumped into him the other day.”
Lucas just nodded. He finished his meal, got up, and prepared to leave.
“Don’t worry, I believe you that there’s nothing between you and Joseph.”
“And then? When will I be forgiven? It’s exhausting to be ignored by you every day.”
“It’s only been two days. Not even a week.”
“Lucas! Don’t be crazy, okay!”
“Who’s crazy? I’m 100% sane. Alright, I have to go to work now. You can finish your breakfast.”
Lucas then gave Deasy a quick kiss on the forehead. Ignoring his wife, who was still complaining, he decided to leave for work.
Meanwhile, Diana, who was staying overnight at her daughter’s house, witnessed what had just happened between Deasy and Lucas. She walked closer and immediately asked.
“Is Lucas still mad at you?”
Deasy nodded casually.
“He is, Mom. I don’t know how long he’s going to sulk like this.”
“Good!” Diana teased without remorse. Instead of feeling sorry for her daughter, she seemed pleased that Deasy was being ignored by Lucas these past few days.
“Why are you actually happy about it, Mom? You’re so mean not to support your own child.”
“Why should I support someone who’s in the wrong? To be honest, Lucas has every right to be angry with you. Besides, why were you so infatuated with Joseph yesterday?”
“For heaven’s sake, Mom. I was just having a casual conversation. I wasn’t infatuated with anyone.”
“You had a casual conversation, but you were smiling so much. You seemed really happy to be praised and flirted with.”
“I wasn’t infatuated, Mom. Besides, every woman gets flattered when someone of the opposite sex compliments them. So, what Deasy did is just human, right?”
“The problem is, you’re already married, Deasy Winterborne. You have a handsome husband, but you still can’t resist praising other guys. If I were Lucas, I wouldn’t just be sulking; I would also respond to your behavior that’s so out of line.”
Deasy was at a loss for words. This is what it felt like to be a stepchild. Instead of being supported, defended, or perhaps consoled, Deasy was scolded mercilessly.
“Well… Deasy is wrong, and I admit it, Mom. But Deasy has apologized. It’s really tiring to be ignored like this.”
“It’s not enough to just apologize, Des. There also has to be action and effort.”
Deasy’s eyebrows reflexively furrowed. In her heart, she wondered what kind of action and effort her mother meant this time.
“What do you mean, Mom? What should I do?”
“If you really want to get Lucas’s attention and make your husband not angry anymore, then you have to make an effort, Des.”
“Effort?”
“Simple example, do what Lucas has always liked. For instance, when he comes home from work, give him attention. Prepare his favorite meal, give him a massage before bedtime. Give compliments or affectionate words. Don’t forget that even if he’s ignoring you, you should still be affectionate so he feels constantly needed.”
“Is that all?”
Diana nodded again.
“If you want to put in more effort, you can cook Lucas his favorite meal. Then, deliver it to his office so you can have lunch together during his break.”
Deasy snapped her fingers as if she had an epiphany. She wholeheartedly agreed with Diana’s last suggestion.
“That’s a good idea. Lucas really likes having lunch brought to him. Maybe his sulking will disappear if I personally prepare his lunch this time.”
“Give it a try. I’m sure he’ll melt when he sees how committed you are to winning him back and making him not angry anymore.”
“In that case, I’ll leave Jonas with you, Mom. So after this, I’ll prepare the menu and bring it to Lucas’s office.”
Diana nodded in agreement. She didn’t mind taking care of Jonas and letting Deasy focus on resolving her issues with her son-in-law.
Following her mother’s advice, Deasy immediately executed her plan. She cooked several prepared ingredients, and when all the dishes were ready, she neatly packed them into lunch boxes to be taken to Lucas’s office.
Feeling elated and confident, Deasy visited Lucas at his office. Making sure her husband was in his office, she walked lightly into the room.
“Darling… I’m here.”
Lucas, who was sitting at his desk, raised his eyebrows in surprise but chose to remain silent.
“Have you eaten? I brought you lunch.”
Lucas furrowed his brow. He didn’t recall asking for lunch to be brought to him.
“Lunch?”
“Yes,” Deasy nodded. “Earlier, at home, I deliberately cooked your favorite beef belly and black pepper beef. Let’s have lunch together.”
Before Lucas could respond, a woman entered the room through the door, and it was none other than Devina. Stepping closer, she immediately addressed Lucas, who was sitting with Deasy.
“Luc, how’s it going? Are we having lunch together?”
Lucas stood up immediately. He grabbed his coat hanging behind the chair and prepared to leave.
“So, we’re going. Let’s take my car.”
Devina nodded in agreement.
“Whatever you prefer. Using your car is fine.” Devina then turned to Deasy, who looked puzzled by the conversation between her and Lucas. “Deasy, you want to join us for lunch, right?”
“No.” Instead of Deasy, it was Lucas who responded to Devina’s question. “Deasy won’t join. We’re going together.”
Deasy blinked. She suddenly felt confused. She tried to process what was happening at the moment.
“Lucas, are you leaving?” Deasy finally asked.
“Yes. I already had lunch plans with Devina.”
“But, Luc. I cooked—”
“You can eat it yourself. I didn’t ask for you to bring me lunch.”
“I know, but—”
“That’s enough. I’m going now. Be careful when you come back.”
Lucas then left abruptly, leaving Deasy standing there, silently watching him walk away with Devina.
