Chapter 58
Such was Naomi’s mindset.
“Not bad, not bad at all! Excellent! Naomi, you’re truly worthy and calm!”
being my friend! You’re rational
Amelia was delighted, exceptionally so. Naomi’s words were like a reassuring pill that relieved her of any worries. There was even a subtle sense of vindictive pleasure, especially when she thought about Scott. It made the feeling even better.
The two of them began discussing other topics, and the atmosphere in the hospital room quickly became relaxed.
The doctor’s office.
Jasper looked at the person sitting in the chair and detailed Naomi’s condition, leaving nothing out.
After hearing it all, Scott looked at him. “Will it affect you?”
Jasper’s working hospital was in Willowstown, not in Horizon City. He was busy every day, and he would not come just because someone called him.
Jasper smiled and said, “It’s okay. I happened to be coming to Horizon City to see my old teacher. No need to worry.”
He knew what Scott meant, and he also knew Scott hoped he would stay here for a few days–at least until Naomi’s hand was confirmed to be without any issues.
“If it’s inconvenient, just tell me. I’ll arrange for another doctor here.” Ccontent © exclusive by Nô/vel(D)ra/ma.Org.
“I will.”
Scott was a person of few words, never wasting time on idle talk. Having personally learned about Naomi’s condition from Jasper, he did not linger any longer. He got up and prepared to leave.
Jasper followed him out. “How is Sasha?”
“Fine.”
Scott’s steps were steady, his tone unchanged.
Jasper looked at his profound eyes and the lack of emotion on his face. Scott was the same old him; deep and unreadable.
Unable to help himself, he thought of Charles. If he did not misunderstand, the man’s voice that came through Maya’s phone during their group walk that day was Charles‘. He, too, must have seen Charles, had he not?
“Call me if you need anything,” Scott said to Jasper before entering the elevator.

Jasper nodded. “Of course.”
Swiftly, the elevator doors closed.

Jasper stood still, his brow involuntarily furrowing. As far as he knew, Charles had been abroad all this time. When did he come back? Why was he in a place like Horizon City, and with Naomi no less?
He could not understand how these two seemingly unrelated people came together.
Scott left the hospital without checking on Naomi, heading toward the parked cars outside. At that moment, his phone rang, and he answered the call.
“Hello.”
The driver, seeing him approach, got out of the car and opened the door. Scott got in.

“Mr. Lawson, the project proposal for Horizon City has been sent to email.”
“Okay.”
Scott reached for his phone to end the call, but Jay’s voice came through again. “There’s one more thing.”
Scott paused. “What is it?”
“The tourism real estate we invested in before, the Carver Corporation wants to collaborate with us.” Scott looked ahead, his eyes deep and unfathomable. “Tell me more.”
