Rebirth of the Wife in Despair

Chapter 232

Chapter 232

Chapter 232 Is It Not Enough?

Eileen was forcefully seated in the chair. Eric picked up the fork and took a bite of the food. “See? It’s not drugged.”

Eileen couldn’t understand his actions. Hasn’t he been wishing for my death? Why, then, is he now concerned about my well-being? He took my snacks away, yet he served me food, something he never used to do before.

She wasn’t sure if it was because she had gone too long without eating, but she didn’t have any appetite. Her stomach churned, and she felt nauseous.

Clutching her clothes with an expressionless face, she stared at the used fork. Even if the food wasn’t drugged, she had no desire to eat anything he brought.

She didn’t believe he would be so kind-hearted.

“I… I’m not hungry at all.” Eileen tried to stand up and escape, but the man behind her pressed her shoulder down, forcing her to remain seated.

“Do you want me to feed you personally?”

“No,” Eileen instinctively refused without even thinking about it.

With a hint of hesitation, she extended a trembling hand and grabbed a tissue from the side. She slowly wiped the fork.

Eric watched her with a dark expression on his face.

Eileen ate slowly. Eric retrieved a comb from the bathroom and combed her hair from behind. Her hair had been washed the day before and still carried a sweet scent of strawberries.

Eileen remained rigid, not daring to move. In his room, she felt out of place.

She only finished the chicken stew, hardly touching anything else.

“I’ve finished eating. I’m going to wash up.”

Eric didn’t stop his movements. He combed through her hair over and over again as it addicted. “Eat everything”

“I really can’t eat anymore.”

“Even so, you have to eat

Eric lifted his gaze, catching a glimpse of the barely concealed disgust on the person’s face in the mirror. Nevertheless, she suppressed her revulsion.

After he untangled her hair, he took a purple hair tie out of the drawer beside her and tied her hair back. It was a birthday gift he had brought back from Seatown, which she had kept untouched because she cherished it so much.

Unable to bear it any longer, Eileen stood up. “What exactly are you trying to do?”

The moment the words left her mouth, she regretted it.

With Will away, all she would accomplish by angering him was inviting trouble.

Suppressing her irritation, Eileen calmly said, “Thank you for the meal today. I’m quite full. You can go about your business. Don’t worry about me.”

The detached look in her gaze made Eric narrow his eyes. “If you’re done eating, go downstairs and take a walk. Don’t stay in your room all day.”

“I will,” she replied, effectively dismissing him.

In other words, she was saying that there was no need for him to interfere in her affairs.

Eileen turned and walked to the bathroom. She closed the door behind her, and the untied strands of her hair fell down. The weariness in her eyes was unmistakable, even in the reflection of the bathroom mirror.

She took off the hair tie, and her black hair cascaded down like a waterfall. She casually tossed the object in her hand into the sink. Sitting on the toilet lid, she forced herself not to let her mind wander.

It was Monday, and she should be at school. Whether it was Jennifer, Jacob, or the former class leader of Class Six, they all had high hopes for her. Yet, there she was, hiding like at coward, cutting off all contact with the outside world.

Eileen didn’t know if the person outside had left. Nor did she know how long she had been. sitting in the bathroom. But at that moment, she never wanted to step out of that door for the rest of her life.

If God watched me endure miserable and wretched days in my past life yet now allows me to still suffer in excruciating pain as I did after being reincarnated, what’s the point of it when I’m back to square one, unable to escape Eric’s revenge despite desperately wanting to change everything? I had thought everything I did could free me from my original path. Alas, I find that no matter how hard I try or whatever I do to change things, what was meant to happen would still come to pass. under Eric’s shadow.

The sound of the door handle being pressed down caused Eileen to instinctively lift her

head. Her eyes met the man’s assertive and invasive gaze. He hasn’t left?

Eric noticed the hair tie in the sink, and a storm seemed to brew in his eyes. Nevertheless, he managed to keep his composure.

“Are you coming out on your own, or should I come in and escort you?”

Eileen came out of the bathroom without saying a word.

“Take your medicine.”

On the table were two pills on a tissue and a glass of warm water.

Whenever she felt depressed in the past, she would always take an extra pill.

Indeed, it was time for her to take her medicine.

“Thank you.” Eileen picked up the pills and swallowed them. The water was just the right temperature, and she used it to wash them down.

“Please leave. I want to be alone.”

“Isn’t it enough after all this fuss? Are you planning to skip school and continue like this? Is this what you meant by leaving, locking yourself in your room?” Eric grabbed her hand and dragged her out of

the room.

“What are you doing? Let go of me! Eric… let go of me!” Eileen was dragged down the stairs. by him, nearly stumbling several times.

While stepping onto the landing, she accidentally twisted her ankle. Unfortunately, he was oblivious to it. The piercing pain made it impossible for Eileen to walk properly. By the time they reached the living room, the staff had already begun preparing lunch.

When Eric released his hold on her, Eileen fell to the ground without warning. Seeing that, all the staff in the mansion lowered their heads and kept their distance.

She struggled to get back on her feet, but the intense pain shooting through her ankle made it impossible.

Eric noticed her red and swollen ankle, his gaze fixated on it.

Watching as he extended a hand to her, Eileen stood up. Disregarding her injured ankle, she pushed Eric away and hobbled up the stairs as if running tor her life with support from the railing.

Eric ordered Mary to bring a bottle of safflower oil upstairs.

He stood with one hand on his hip and the other partially covering his eyes. Have I pushed too hard?

Never before had he felt so drained and helpless towards someone.

Once again, the person in charge of the planning department at Smith Corporation was kicked out of the CEO’s office, for what seemed like the hundredth time.

The wide-open door revealed a floor scattered with rejected proposals.

“Smith Corporation does not tolerate incompetence. This is your final chance. If you cannot provide me with a satisfactory proposal this time, all of you from the department can leave.”

“Yes, yes, Mr. Smith. I will revise the proposal immediately.”

Fabian stepped out of the elevator, holding a bag of medication in his hand, intended to control Jasper’s emotions.

Ever since Eileen uttered those words, the couple had ceased communication. Jasper had not returned to the Smith residence for several days.

For the past few days, he had remained at the company, working overtime without going home, with the entire company supporting him.

Fabian himself had not had a good night’s sleep for over a week.

He attempted to call Eileen, but her phone was switched off. Despite numerous attempts, he was unable to reach her.

In truth, he believed that Eileen was not wrong. A relationship between two people could not accommodate a third person. Since Jasper could not bear to part with her, he should end. things with Nancy and bring Eileen back.

Fabian held a rolled-up piece of drawing paper as he entered the office. “Mr. Smith, we have received an entry from Ms. Eileen for the art competition co-hosted by our company.”
