Reclaiming My Broken Luna 2

Chapter 375: Shadows of Deception

Drystan's POV

"No!" Nova gasped, rushing forward, but it was too late. The rogue was gone.

I stared down at the lifeless body, my wolf snarling in frustration. He'd been sent here for one reason: to dangle the truth just out of our reach, then snatch it away.

My fists clenched tightly at my sides as the words he'd spoken burned into my mind.

"The truth will destroy you."

The silence in the courtyard was deafening. Nova stood frozen, her hands trembling as she stared at the rogue's body.

"They're toying with us," she said, her voice trembling with anger. "They want us to tear each other apart."

"They won't win,” I said firmly, my voice cutting through the tension. "We'll find the truth, no matter what it takes."

Killian stood beside me, his face unreadable but his eyes shadowed with something dark-something I couldn't quite place.

The sharp sound of footsteps broke the stillness.

Rowena stepped into the courtyard, her expression carefully neutral, though her eyes gleamed with a calculated edge.noveldrama

"I heard commotion," she said, her voice smooth, as if she hadn't just walked into the aftermath of a rogue's death.

Her gaze flicked to the lifeless body, then to Killian. "Let me guess. Another rogue with a cryptic message?"

Killian's jaw tightened. "What do you know about this, Mother?"

Rowena raised a brow, feigning innocence. "About what? The endless rogue attacks? Or the fact that you seem determined to pin everything on me?"

"Don't play games with us," Nova snapped, stepping forward. "He mentioned the truth, Rowena. He said it would destroy us. What truth is he talking about?"

Rowena tilted her head, her lips curving into a faint smirk. "How should I know? You're the ones interrogating rogues, not me."

“Enough!” Killian's voice thundered, silencing the courtyard. "You knew about the rogues long before they became a threat.

You claim to have information that can help us, but all you've done is sow doubt and division. If you know something, now is the time to speak."

Rowena's smirk faded, replaced by a steely resolve. "Fine. You want the truth? Here it is: the rogues are after more than territory or resources.

They're after power. And if you don't start listening to me, you'll hand it to them on a silver platter."

Rowena paused she stepped closer to the rogue's body, kneeling beside it. She reached out, plucking a small medallion from the corpse's neck.

The intricate engraving glinted in the moonlight, a symbol none of us recognized. "This," she said, holding it up, "is proof that the Rogue King isn't acting alone. He has allies. And if you want to stop him, you're going to need me."

Killian's eyes narrowed. "Why should we trust you?"

Rowena stood, her expression unreadable. “Because, my dear son, I'm the only one who understands what he's after.

And if you keep treating me like the enemy, you'll lose everything before you even realize what's happening."

Her words hung in the air, heavy with implication. Killian stared at her, his anger barely contained, but I could see the doubt flickering in his eyes.

Nova stepped forward, her hands balled into fists. "You seem to know so much. How do we know you're not working with him?"

Rowena smiled faintly, though there was no warmth in it. "Because if the Rogue King wins, I lose too. You may not trust me, but you'll have to decide quickly."

"Enough," Killian growled. "We'll discuss this in the council chamber."

As we turned to leave, Rowena's voice stopped us. "One more thing," she said, holding up the medallion. "This symbol-it's a warning. And if I'm right, it's only the beginning.

Her words sent a chill down my spine. We walked silently toward the council

chamber, but the weight of Rowena's presence lingered behind us.

I couldn't shake the feeling that we were walking straight into another one of her traps.

Killian's POV

The council chamber was quiet when we arrived, the air thick with unease.

Rowena entered last, her posture calm, almost arrogant, as if she were already one step ahead of us.

It was a look I recognized all too well-a predator waiting for her prey to reveal their weaknesses.

I slammed my hand on the table, the sharp crack echoing through the chamber.

Rowena flinched for the first time, her mask slipping just enough for me to see the cracks beneath it.

"Enough games, Mother. Tell us everything you know, or so help me "

"You'll what?" Rowena interrupted,

her voice sharp and cold. "Cast me out? Lock me away? You need me, Killian, whether you like it or not. The Rogue King isn't just gathering rogues-he's building alliances. He's reaching into places you can't even imagine."

I clenched my jaw, willing myself to remain calm. Every instinct screamed at me to

throw her out, to strip her of any power she thought she had. But I couldn't. Not

yet.

"If you hadn't such a thing, killing Liora, we wouldn't have to thread on thin ice," Astrid grunted.

"If the Rogue King wins, none of us survive. Not you, not your Packs, not your precious children. I don't care if you hate me, but I won't sit by and watch everything we've built burn to the ground." en

Her words struck a nerve, though I would never admit it. For all her flaws, Rowena wasn't wrong.

The Rogue King's moves had been too calculated, his forces too coordinated. He wasn't just a rogue; he was a strategist.

"And what exactly are we supposed to do with this... warning?" Astrid asked, gesturing toward the medallion Rowena had pulled from the dead rogue's neck.

Her voice was steady, but I could hear the tension beneath it.

Rowena stepped forward, placing the medallion on the table. Its strange symbol gleamed under the low light intricate and unfamiliar "You find out what it means. And you do it quickly. Because if I'm right, the Rogue King is already moving on the Forsaken Amulet. And if he gets it, it's over."

"The Amulet suppresses Almega abilities," Astrid murmured, her voice almost a whisper. "If he uses it-"

"We'll be powerless," Astrid finished grimly. "Every Alpha, every Luna. He could tear apart the Packs without lifting a finger."

Rowena nodded, her expression grim."

"This doesn't absolve you," I said quietly, the words burning my throat. "Everything you've done, everything you've taken—you'll answer for it. But for now, we'll use what you know."
