Rejected No More: I Am Way Out Of Your League, Darling!

Chapter 1056

Chapter 1056:

Daniela leaned back in her chair, studying Cedric. “Did we get married before?”

Cedric’s back straightened slightly as he nodded. “Yes. We did.”

“Even though I can’t remember why I married you, I know myself. I’m not someone who would gamble my future on a whim,” Daniela said.

Cedric smiled faintly. “No, you wouldn’t.”

“Your leg… Carol told me you got injured while trying to save me.”noveldrama

Cedric didn’t shy away from the weight of the conversation. He was willing to tell her anything she wanted to know. “Yeah, there was an explosion.”

Daniela asked, “Do you need me to help you find a doctor?”

Cedric shook his head. “I already have one. He’s a friend and very responsible. There’s no need for now.”

Daniela felt somewhat relieved. She appreciated Cedric’s honesty, so she chose to be honest as well.

“I don’t recall the past, so to me, you’re just an old classmate. I don’t know how we used to interact, and right now, I can only engage with you in a way that feels natural and comfortable to me. I don’t know when or if I’ll ever regain my memory, or if I’ll manage a family for a long period. And honestly, I can’t afford to focus on it right now. Elite Lux is facing serious issues that require my attention, and I have no way of predicting how long it will take.”

Daniela met Cedric’s gaze. “If this bothers you, or if you feel it’s necessary, we can consider a divorce.”

Daniela noticed that, as soon as she finished speaking, Cedric’s hand, resting on his knee, trembled slightly.

A heavy silence stretched between them like an invisible wall. After a brief pause, Cedric’s voice broke the silence. “Is that what you want? A divorce?”

Daniela’s eyes stayed fixed on Cedric. She saw the light in his eyes slowly dim, as if her words had stolen their glow. Yet, he still held onto a smile—fragile, but unwavering.

He kept that same faint smile as he met her gaze, his voice steady yet gentle. “Is this what you truly want? Does this marriage feel like a burden to you?”

Daniela found Cedric to be an unusual man—complex in ways she couldn’t quite define. He never imposed his will on her, yet somehow, her feelings always seemed to come first. Even now.

Beneath the room’s dim, cold light, Cedric looked as though he was on the brink of collapse. Yet, he swallowed the ache in his chest, still choosing to put her feelings above his own.

“I don’t feel much about it,” Daniela admitted. “I just thought it might be difficult for you. It takes time to recover memories, and everyone has expectations of their spouse. I can’t meet those expectations right now.”

Cedric studied her carefully. “So that’s why? That’s the reason you’re bringing up divorce?”

Daniela gave a small nod.

Then, to her surprise, Cedric exhaled a long breath, as if a weight had been lifted.

A quiet hope flickered back into his gaze, chasing away the earlier dullness.
