My Twins Baby 36
Xander POV
I watched my mate leave, feeling stricken and heartbroken. I had never in a million years dreamed that my mother would be capable of such a horrendous thing. She left silence in her wake. My father looked devastated, putting his head in his hands. Warriors entered the room, mind-linked by a grim Xavies, taking hold of Beta Jolanathon who stared wildly at us all, unable to believe that he was about to be punished for a crime had committed years ago. I had no sympathy for him. He had known what he did was against the pack law and yet he hail ontinued to lie about it. His rate must have felt the betrayal pains as he slept with our mother, just as our father me have done, with neither of them understanding what they
were.
"Beta Johnathon adultery is a crime, regardless of how long ago i was and your actions led to the death of an innocent pack member, no matter how unintentional it was. You lied and betrayed the Alpha of your pack. You will be placed in the dungeon to await your sentence" Xavier's voice is dull as he speaks to the Beta.
I watch as Beta Johnathon is dragged out kicking and screaming silver restraints placed around his wrists, preventing him from being able to shift. My father does not look up from his set, his face still in his hands.
"Isabelle and Heather Ramona" my yoice is quiet as I address the two women now.
They look at me terrified. "There is no evidence to suggest you had any knowledge about what transpired but I suspect that you have both been involved in hurting our mate physically. Since we too, are guilty of that crime, I will be lenient on this one occasion. Neither of you is to step foot in the pack house from now on and you will maintain a respectful distance from Regan at all times. Is that understood?" My voice is icy as I stare at them with a glacial expression on my face,
They nod vehemently, looking panicked. I wave my hand at them dismissively. "Then leave. We have other business to conclude. If you wish to see your rate, your stepfather, you will have to wait until his sentence has been decided." My voice is heavy.
They nod and then quickly rush out of the room, practically dragging each other by the arm as they leave in a hurry. Silence. Xavier and I look at our father, both of us now sympathetically regarding him.
"Father, you should leave for this next bit," I tell him quietly in warning.
This would not be easy on anyone, least of all him. But it had to be done.
He gets up, his eyes red and puffy, and vanishes from the room I feel a pang for the man who has spent his life raising me, only to be betrayed by the very person meant to love him unconditionally. The very person who is his other half, his mate, and meant to be by his side forever. Nothing can ever redeem my mother from this. Not ever.
My mother holds out her hands, beseeching us both. Xavier cast a glance at me. Neither one of us wants to do this. For all intents and purposes, she is the woman who gave birth to us. She raised us. She loved us. She might not have always been the kindest, but she did her best. It's hard to fathom that she was responsible not only for the death of Celeste Lourdes but that she lured an innocent child into the forest with the intention of the child being killed by the rogues. It's so monstrous that I can only stare at her in disbelief.
"How could you be so selfish?" Xavier is the first to speak and I'm glad, not sure that Lcould manage to get the words out without losing control of myself completely.noveldrama
He sounds just as betrayed as I feel.
My mother sniffs. "Tjust didn't want to..."
"You didn't want to get caught my voice is wooden. "You could have killed Regan. We would have lost our mate before we found her and it would have been your fault" I told her "As it is you murdered her mother, even if you weren't the one to give the fatal blow. Do you have any idea how bad this looks, Mother? As the luna of the pack, you are meant to show an example, to adhere to the rules and the laws and you broke ther
She was not the leader she had always told us to strive to be.
"I'm sorry" she whispered, her lower lip quivering "but it was so long ago, surely you can forgive me.
"Forgive you? Do you think that you're about to escape punishment? Mother, Regan was correct. We can't fail in our duties, simply because you are the Luna. It would only prove Regan right. You did something unforgivable, and you have to pay the price" I said, watching her closely as she began to cry in carnest, owing her head.
"You would condemn me? My own sons?" she sobbed, sounding Bitiful instead of the Lana that she was.
"Your own actious have condemned you" Xavier's voice is tight. His body still. "You only have yourself to blame. Why didn't you just come forward! Why didn't you adrisit to what happened Why did you betray Father when all he's done is love you?"
"It's not that simple Xavier" her voice broke "You judge me too harshly for one mistake.
"One mistake that ruined a little girl's life forever and took her mother away from her."
My voice is quiet but condemning. There is no forgiveness in it
She bowed her head and sobbed some more. I glanced at my brother and nodded subtly, feeling sickened by what was about to happen. The warriors came to the doorway and my mother's head shot up. She began to instantly bite her lip and plead with us some more, attempting to persuade us to change our minds.
"Boys, please. I'm your mother" she whispered, tears trailing down her cheeks.
"We know and this hurts us more than you can imagine" I breathed, my chest tight, my heart hurting, my head feeling as though it was about to burst. "But we can't just let it slide."
Not without looking like hypocrites who protected their own family while condemning others for breaking the same laws
She stared at us and then flung her head back. Xavier moved instinctively, throwing his body weight down on her, pinning her to the ground as she attempted to shift, the warriors rushing in and restraining her as she growled and buckled, her body flailing and kicking out wildly.
"You little bastards" she screamed, as the warriors dragged her to her feet. "All these years of sacrificing for you, for your father and this is how you repay me? I curse the day I gave birth to you both" she said with bitterness, pinning her gaze on us as we stiffened "And I will get free" she told us both. "That's a promise."
"No Mother, you won't. I'm sorry that you feel this way" I told her as she was dragged unceremoniously towards the doorway, her expression mutinous "I always thought you loved us but now I'm seeing you in a whole new light. Your only concern is for yourself and it always has been." "Take her to the dungeon and make sure she is well separated from Beta Johnathon" Xavier added as the warriors nodded, "I don't want them to be able to communicate with each other until we have decided what their punishment is." our as

mother was hauled out of the roon. I blinked back tears and turned to Xavier who was staring
"What now?" I asked, feeling a certain amount of hopelessness.
Could I really condemn my mother and subject her to the packs laws, without breaking down? I felt as though I was betraying her, but if I didn't subject her to the same rules as everybody else, then what would that make me?
"You know the rules" Xavier's jaw clenches "but maybe we aren't the ones who should be deciding her fate. We weren't the ones most affected by what she did. She betrayed Father, but we didn't lose a mother like Regan did. Regan is the one who has suffered the most. She should be the one who decides our mother's fate" he said with a low growl and I couldn't help but agree.
Would our mate decide on the harshest punishment she could think of to punish the woman responsible for everything horrible in her life and the loss of her mother? I wouldn't blame her if she did. This wasn't going to be easy. Already Regan
past had denied wanting to be mates with us again. It seemed we couldn't get anywhere in this relationship while the continued to haunt us all. We needed to clear the air, clear what had happened, and then find a way to move on, if we were ever to convince her to let us be the mates she deserved. Right now, I wasn't sure she would ever want us and my wolf was just as disheartened as I was by the prospect. Xavier's expression showed he was feeling the same way. Neither of us had any inklings of what was going to happen next or what we could do to fix this mess that mother had created.
