Chapter 41 Regan POV

82:

The pack stands as a whole. There is nothing but silence. The sound of the wind rustling through the trees, and the birds chirping from the sky, are the only sounds that you can hear Everybody has gathered to see this momentous occasion. There are grimaces on several faces in the crowd. You can suddenly bear loud shouts, as Beta Johnathon is dragged out firs from the dungeon, his back all bloodied and freshly whipped, his posture bent and doubled over as the guards violently pull on his restraints, bringing him to the from of the pack and put on display. My father looks around, his lip twisted into nasty sneer, but says nothing, narrowing his eyes and glaring at us all. I force myself to watch, knowing what is about to happen and knowing this will be the last time that I will ever lay eyes on him ever again. After today, he will officially be gone from my life.

"You must say the words and sever your bond with the pack" Alpha Jackson's voice is deadly quiet as he addresses my father. The crowd hushes and eyes my father expectantly. Punishments such as this one are rare and always draw the crowd when they occur. My father looks at us all and then snorts, spitting blood at the ground, his eyes filled with rage. "With pleasure" he spits out. 1, Johnathon Ramona, hereby sever my link to the Blood Moon Pack and declare myself a rogue from here on

We can all feel the loss of a pack member, even those of us without wolves can feel a slight pressure in our heads, indicating that my father's bond is now gone. Alpha Jackson gives the signal to the guards who take the restraints and shackles off my father, freeing him. "Leave now. You have two hours to get off this territory before you forfeit your life and I kill you" his voice carries through the crowd. "Use it wisely."

My father's claws begin to grow and for a moment I tense, wondering if he's going to be foolish enough to tackle the Alpha and attack him, but he simply turns his head away and begins to shift, his wolf form racing straight into the midst of the forest as we all watch. For once, he's taken the correct path instead of making things worse for himself. Heather and Isabelle are clutching at each other and weeping loudly. Several pack members surround them, offering support and comfort. I ignore them. I meet Isabelle's eyes and notice how coldly she stares at me, blaming me for the loss of her stepfather and the status she once held in the pack. I look away, keeping my face expressionless.

The twins are on either side of me in a show of possessiveness, their faces a mask of concentration. My heart feels heavy awaiting the next part to happen. I would not miss my father or the little care that he showed me throughout my life. Perhaps it's horrible for me to feel that way, but I can't help it. Never again, would I have to fear the sound of his footsteps or the strike of his flesh as it connected with mine. I was finally free. Heather and Isabelle would never be allowed at the packhouse. I didn't have to concern myself with ever running into them. It felt as though a huge burden had been lifted off my shoulders. My mates, however they had loved their mother. Unbidden, I reached for each of their hands, clasping them tightly as they shot me a glance, surprised by my actions, but not pulling away, I knew how much this was going to devastate them. Alpha Jackson's eyes were hooded as he faced the pack and inhaled sharply, preparing himself for the next bit.

"The second prisoner will now be brought out," he told them, mind-linking the guards to bring her outnoveldrama

More screams, and shrieks. Unlike my father, Luna Jennifer did not possess a sense of restraint or decorum as she was dragged out in front of the pack. She screeched at the top of her lungs, kicking and flailing as everybody watched in a state of disbelief. She did not resemble the Luna she used to be. She was shoved to the ground and forced onto her knees as Alpha Jackson addressed her, all while continuing to avoid looking at her.

"Say the words and sever the bond" he ordered, his jaw clenching tight. "Fuck you" she spat, her eyes shining in defiance.

Alpha Jackson's jaw clenched, He was angry but kept his calm. "Do not make me use my alpha tone or do it myself. would be extreme if I was to sever the bond of the pack against you" he warned her, even though as the previous Luna, she would already know that. The pain

She sobbed harder. "Please, have merry. My sons" she appealed to Xavier and Xander as I held tightly to their hands, willing them to stay by my side. "Don't you have a heart? Don't you feel bad about this at all? I will die out there she cried dramatically, as the pack shifted on its feet, awkwardly glancing each other, some looking sympathetically towards Luna Jennifer but making no move to intervene.

"Mother, you made it clear that you hated us" Xavier speaks, his eyes narrowing on his mother as he lets go of my hand and begins to approach her with cautious steps. "Why do you appeal to us now?" he began, looking frustrated and at a loss.

I'm sorry" she wailed, her voice rising higher so that everybody could hear her. "I love you both so much. You're my sons. You mean everything to me. I can't leave you here alone without me. It's killing me" she screamed, sobbing pitifully. acting and

Vier moved closer but remained out of her way. I was grateful for that. Part of me knew the Luna was s suspected she had a motive for what she was doing. Even if I couldn't prove it. I didn't trust her. She sighed and then slowly said the words we were all waiting to hear. "I, Jennifer Dominion sever my link and bond to the Blood Moon Pack and hereby become a rogue."

Her tone is filled with bitterness.

Alpha Jackson nodded and the guards took off her restraints. She made a great show of collapsing onto the ground and weeping profusely. I saw something glint and realized that her claws had retracted and that she was preparing to use them, on Xavier!

I pushed Xavier out of the way as she lunged, her claws embedding themselves into my chest as I let out a strangled sound. My eyes widened, even as Xander and Xavier let out ferocious roars and Alpha Jackson began to shout. There was a smug expression on Luna Jennifer's face as she rammed her claws into me. I could feel my heart beginning to race. I could see the glint in her eyes. I had managed to save Xavier's life but at risk to my own. I had acted instinctively. What kind of mother was capable of killing her own child? I could feel my knees beginning to buckle as blood poured out of the wound. She yanked her hand back, causing blood to spurt, ready to thrust it back into my chest cavity, and was promptly taken down by a large black wolf. I did not know whose wolf it was. It could have been Xavier's, Xander's, or even Alpha Jacksons. Part of me did not care. I was in pain, a lot of it

I heard bloodcurdling screams. Luna Jennifer did not have time to shift before she was brutally and ruthlessly dealt with. My body collapsed onto the ground, and I felt strong arms begin to lift me as I blinked up at the person, dazed and confused. I was losing so much blood. I felt lightheaded and strange.

"She's losing too much blood."

Xavier's voice. So, it can't have been his wolf that took down his mother. For some inexplicable reason, I'm glad of that. "We have to get her to the hospital" Xander's voice now, worried and strangely high pitched.

"We don't have time. She's going to bleed out at this rate."

"Just run with her Xavier. I'll meet you there. Keep your hand on to apply pressure" Xander's voice is shouting at the top of his lungs.

I feel my body being carried, my head tilting back, my eyes glancing blurrily upwards at a tense-looking Xavier before the pain becomes too much and I surrender to the darkness that is slowly beginning to consume nie. My only regret is that I never did get to meet my wolf and now I have a feeling that I will never get to shift, let alone become Luna of this pack or finally agree to be mates with the twins. I don't regret saving Xavier though.
