“Is it that she doesn’t need it or that you have ideas about her?”
Isabel was poised and elegant, the epitome of Belchester’s elite young ladies. She never lost her composure in any situation, but today, the person who made her lose her temper wasn’t Hailey but a 16–year–old girl.
Isabel didn’t know if it was because she was overthinking or she was jealous, but she blurted out those words instinctively.
She met Anderson’s piercing gaze.
He merely looked calmly at her before taking out a pack of cigarettes from his suit pocket. He put one in his mouth, lit it, and exhaled a puff of smoke.
“Things are different now. Mayra is still young and doesn’t understand the treacherous nature of people. Everything can wait until she finishes her studies. When she reaches the age to marry, I’ll help her choose a suitable match from a respectable family.”
The white smoke drifted over, causing Isabel to cough a few times.
“Feeling sick? Let Shane take you home.”
Isabel approached and rested her hand on his arm. Suppressing the discomfort caused by the smell, she said, “I’m sorry for what I said.” Belongs to NôvelDrama.Org - All rights reserved.
“Isa, don’t try to guess my thoughts. It’s not good for you.”
Isabel’s heart sank at his words. She withdrew her hand awkwardly. “I won’t do it again… I won’t disturb you any longer. Remember to eat the snacks I made for you.”
Isabel knew that her words had upset him, and staying by his side would only annoy him further. After Isabel left, all the photos on the desk were thrown into the trash bin.
At Fisher Residence, Alicia saw Isabel return in a gloomy mood. “What happened? Did Anderson upset you again?” Her words were cold, but deep down, she was worried.

She couldn’t help but wonder from whom did Isabel get her current meekness. Or did the rules of the Barlow family influence her?
Alicia was usually strict and reprimanding, but it was out of love. She didn’t want Isabel to be bullied by a wretch’s daughter.
How could a bitch like Renee raise a good daughter?
Isabel shook her head. “No, I’m fine. I’ll go to my room.”
Watching her go upstairs, Alicia put down her coffee cup forcefully. “Such a coward. From whom did she get that? If she were like me, she wouldn’t be bullied by a bitch like this.”
In her room, Isabel locked the door and took out a photo album from the storage cabinet. In the last album, there was a photo of her at the age of ten with Anderson and Gemma.
Gemma was a peerless beauty, but unfortunately, she passed away at the young age of 40.
Seeing the bangle on Gemma’s wrist, Isabel took out the photo of Mayra and compared them. The more she looked at the two photos, the colder her heart felt. They were identical. Even the crack was in the same spot.
The bangle Gemma wore was the same as the one Mayra wore on her wrist.
The photo album slipped from Isabel’s hands and fell to the floor. She closed her eyes, feeling her whole body tremble.
Back when Anderson was ten, he teased her by putting a bug on her head. She was so angry that she ignored him for days. To make it up to her, he sneaked out Gemma’s bangle that had been passed down through generations to the Barlow family’s matriarchs.
In the process of wearing it, she accidentally knocked it against the table.
Anderson took the blame for it and was punished by Sonia.
After the Manchester family incident, this heirloom bangle vanished. Isabel was shocked to see it now on Mayra’s wrist.
Did Anderson give it to her? Why?
She couldn’t understand why Anderson would have feelings for a 16–year–old
girl.
