Chapter 1253
Facing the same questions from Jenna and Sandy, Sophie patiently explained once again, "I fell down the stairs when I was little and injured myself." "Fell?" Jenna asked, growing more puzzled. "But this looks like..."
Although her memory was a bit fuzzy, Jenna vaguely remembered that when that big incident happened years ago, representatives from several major families had rushed to the hospital. At that time, there was a little girl with a terrible back injury, covered in blood. Jenna had a strong impression of this because Gordon was holding that girl tightly in his arms.
"Jenna, what's wrong?" Sophie turned to see Jenna staring off into space.
Jenna snapped back at Sophie's words. "Ah... it's nothing, just that the scar doesn't look like it came from a fall."
"Why do you and Sandy keep saying the same thing?" Sophie said, spinning in front of the mirror. "Jenna, do you think I should change dresses? A backless one doesn't really go well with a scar."
"Why not try this one?" Sandy suggested, holding up a lake-blue gown. "It's elegant and not too flashy."
Sophie took the dress from Sandy, looking pleased. "Alright, this one it is!"
Sandy then dragged Jenna towards the changing room. "I picked one out for you too! Come on, let's change together!"
"You're changing too?!" Jenna exclaimed, exasperated. How did Sandy have so much energy?
As the evening grew darker, Sandy's energy seemed boundless, while Jenna and Sophie were starting to look a bit weary. Yet, Sandy's eyes sparkled with excitement as she looked at the bustling streets outside the Regent Hotel. "Devonport sure is lively!" Sandy said. "I wonder what it's like inside, and if there's anything fun."
"It's just a social gala, what fun could there be? Are your overseas galas different from ours?" Jenna asked.
"No fun? We have tons of entertainment options where I'm from!"
"Really?" Jenna was surprised. "Apart from dancing, singing, and maybe a piano performance, what else is there?"
"Oh, plenty," Sandy replied. "Like darts, hot springs, swimming pools, even golf..."
"Wait, is that a gala?"
""Isn't it?"
"Sounds more like a casual party."
"Is that so?" Sandy looked puzzled. "I don't know, my dad tells me to go have fun, so I go."
Sophie chimed in, "Seems like

throwing those galas just so people
can hang out with you."
Still confused, Sandy followed Sophie and Jenna inside. "Sophie, what do you mean? Aren't your galas like that?"
As they entered the Regent Hotel,
they saw it was already filled with people. But just as they reached the entrance, a security guard stopped them.
"Ladies, do you have an invitation?"
Sophie presented the invitation to the guard. He nodded, then had someone bring out three identical masks. These were not the
elaborate opera masks intended for the Minton's dinner, but simple white hattemasks, stripped of any lavish decorations.
