Chapter 1375
Meanwhile, over at the Burke Estate, things were getting a bit intense.
Colby was carefully tending to Sophie's wounds. She watched him fussing over her, handling her with the gentleness of someone terrified of causing more pain, and couldn't help but tease, "You being so cautious is actually making it hurt more, you know?"
Colby froze at her words, clearly flustered.
Sophie chuckled softly and said, "Maybe I should just do it myself."
As she reached for the gauze, Colby gently caught her hand. "You don't have much time left to heal," he said quietly.
Sophie knew exactly what he was hinting at and nodded, "I know."Property © of NôvelDrama.Org.
Colby looked up, meeting her gaze. "I think they're going to make their move soon. They won't just sit back and watch us bounce back."
"I know," Sophie replied.
"So... we need to come up with a plan to turn this around."
"Yeah, I know that too." Her voice was barely above a whisper.
For the past few nights, a feeling had been gnawing at her-her time with Colby might be running out. Joseph's arrival had cranked up the pressure, making everything feel more urgent.
She was aware of the whole rebirth situation, but nobody else was. If things unfolded like Joseph predicted and the world reset, would they even remember any of this? Would everything just start over, erasing all connections?
Jenna, Adler, James, Gordon, Harold, Sandy, Angelo, Reece... everyone might end up as strangers. The thought of losing Colby and the bonds with everyone else was unbearable.
Colby squeezed her hand reassuringly. "Alright, let me finish bandaging you up. You just rest for the next few days. I'll handle everything outside."
"Okay," Sophie agreed, feeling a bit more at ease.
Just then, a knock interrupted them.
Rick's voice came through the door, "Ms. Sophie, Mr. Colby, the boss wants to see you."
Colby calmly replied, "Got it."
He carefully unwrapped the gauze from Sophie's shoulder, applied some fresh ointment, and began rewrapping it.
Out of nowhere, Sophie blurted out, "Colby, if everything started over, would you find me again?"
Without hesitation, Colby whispered, "I would. No matter what happens, I'll find you."
His words warmed her heart, bringing a soft smile to her lips. "Okay," she said, feeling a sense of comfort.
A short while later, they found
themselves in Gordon's room. He
looked a bit better than before, propped up in his wheelchair. "Joseph's gearing up for something. There might be some changes in the household soon. I've asked Rick to organize a big to-do for Ms. Sophie's funeral."
"Trying to throw them off, Mr. Gordon?" Colby asked.
"They'll definitely strike now, so... Sophie, you'll need to play invisible within the Aldridge family."
Sophie got the drift-it meant

cause, I'm in."
Gordon continued, "I'm not entirely confident, but we have to give it our all. I've spread the word, and I'lkneed you, Mr. Colby, to pull back everyone from the Aldridge estate."
Colby frowned slightly. Sophie also looked puzzled. "Everyone?"
"Yes, not a single person left behind."
