Chapter 530
Murphy turned and walked away. His tall figure gradually disappeared into the distance.
"Evelyn, don't be ungrateful. If you keep causing trouble, I can't guarantee what might happen." He threw back at me. His voice dripped with malice. "Your precious son might just lose his life one day. Don't say I didn't warn you."
With that final threat, his group left swiftly, fading into the night. I was left alone and helpless, crouching on the ground. I punched the concrete floor, instantly splitting my knuckles, with blood gushing out.
The pain was unbearable. But this pain, compared to the agony of losing my son, was nothing. I replayed the days in prison over and over again in my mind.
Everyday was a torturous struggle. But even in the deepest despair, the one thing that kept me alive was always the same-Zachary. That sweet, adorable little one.
It was my fault for failing to protect him. I was scared and gave in. In the end, he had to suffer because of me. I hugged my knees tightly, tears streaming down my face. I miss him so much. All I could do was hope that he would be strong and stand up to the bullies.
I swear I would get him out of there! But what could I do? Murphy's power was at its peak, and I was just an ordinary person. How could I possibly fight against him?
And what's worse, Ethan wasn't here with me now. Without him, how could I face the Albrights? In my desperation, I suddenly thought of someone. Yes, she was my only hope. Maybe only she could help me bring down the Albrights.
With that thought, I jumped to my feet and limped toward the car. As I sped through the night, my mind was focused solely on one thing I had to find Madison, the ruthless woman who tormented me in prison. Soon, I arrived at the women's prison. I took a deep breath and strode inside. It was late, and the prison was eerily quiet. The duty guards looked surprised when they saw me.
"Ms. Wiley... what are you doing here at this hour?" one young guard stammered. He smiled nervously.
I shot him a cold glance. This was
the same man who had been part of the group tormenting me with Madison. Now, seeing me return in glory, he was suddenly eagento please. Too little, too late.
"Save it," I said dismissively. "I'm here to see Madison. Let her know, It's Evelyn who wants to meet her."
"Maddie?" The officers exchanged nervous glances. Panic was written all over their faces.
"Ms. Wiley, you... are you here for revenge?" the guard asked carefully. Fear was evident in his tone.
I sneered. "What's wrong? Is there a problem with that? When I was being bullied by her, where were you all?"
"Well..." the guard fumbled, at a loss for words. "If you really want to get back at Maddie, we can't really stop you. After all, you're the victim. But if something happens to her, we won't be able to take the blame. You know how powerful she is here...
I couldn't help but smile. These people were obviously terrified of Madison. Every time her name was mentioned, it was as if they had seen a ghost.noveldrama
"Don't worry, I won't lay a finger on
her." I waved my hand dismissively, and my tone was light. "I just want to catch up with her, chat for a bit. Surely, you can at least do that
much for me?"
What do you think?
