KENNEDY
I didn’t what to expect when Thayer—or should I call him Prince Thayer, the Duke of Assland when he
told me that I was the only one that matters to him, that he was still the same person I met days ago. I
just trusted him. I felt something stronger than how he made me feel in bed. Or maybe I was too
delirious with the surge of my own libido that I wouldn’t care so much if, in the end, if this thing, or
whatever we shared would come to an end.
I was hurt—mostly my ego. I sighed in defeat. Fine. My feelings. I trusted him. We slept together
without protection, and the sex was mind-blowing. But he lied to me and kept the most crucial part of
his life.
He was a freaking Prince. And that bitch. God, I wanted to pull my hair off my head. How could I be
stupid? So damn stupid. There was a so-called Google and social media. Or maybe, I was scared of
something I would find out, and I wasn’t ready to know because I had my suspicions.
The flight back to New York was the longest and the most uncomfortable in history. I was sandwiched
between the mother and her son. The three-year-old boy wouldn’t stay put, and the mother snored like
a pig.
With my heart crushed in my chest, I laid back in bed. I knew my phone was off, but I was not ready to
talk to anyone right now.
***
I woke up with great reluctance of getting up from bed. My heart was still bleeding from his lies. I shook
off that thought. In every story, there was an ending. Sadly my own version of Cinderella, I didn’t have a
happily ever after.
I reluctantly opened the manila envelope given to me by Alessia before my flight. Content (C) Nôv/elDra/ma.Org.
It had only a piece of paper—the photograph of Prince of Triberis Capria.
Son of a bitch!
I poured coffee into my tumbler and took my key from the counter. I gave one quick glance at the room
in the opposite corner.
Honestly, I missed him. After my break up with Raoul, I never thought I would grow feelings so fast with
Thayer. I saw the sincerity, lust, and so many mixed emotions in those green eyes. But right now, I just
couldn’t deal with lies anymore.
An hour later, I knocked on Alessia’s office. I heard her saying to come in.
Her eyes grew big.
“Good morning.”
“Morning.” She gestured me to sit before she rose from her seat. “You’re here early.”
“I’m surprised you didn’t know that I came back, considering your nephew, The Prince’s party is over.” I
knew I was disrespectful and sarcastic to my boss, and she was also a princess. But as far as I knew,
she did this on purpose, throwing me into the country.
“I knew you arrived yesterday. But I’m not expecting you to report today.”
“Well, here I am.” I stood up and took a step closer to her to give back the Manila envelope. “I won’t do
it.” I swallowed down the pain and disappointment that my promotion was officially thrown out of the
window.
“Why?” She looked disappointed, though, and neither surprised.
“You know why. Say my congrats in advance to whomever you promote.” I turned and walked towards
the door.
“Kennedy?”
I halted.
“You know you can’t just run away from him.”
I turned around. “Why? Because he’s a royalty? He knows where to find me so that I can break his
nose.”
She shook his head. “I know you have feelings for Prince Thayer. He called me yesterday to check on
you since your not answering his call. His emotions are everywhere. He’s not thinking straight. And you
just left without even letting him explain why he has to keep his royal title from you.”
I blinked when my eyes started to blur. It was stupid, running away like that. But I couldn’t face him, and
all I could see was the opposite of what I was to say to him—that if I said goodbye, it was the opposite
because I was in love with him.
My smile was faint. “He’s getting engaged.”
I bolted out of the office and never looked back.
***
I met Siena and Serenity at the cafe down from the office building during their break.
I wasn’t in a mood to have coffee and chat, but I need to speak to someone, or I would just be going
crazy and go to sleep the whole day.
“You’re back so fast. I was surprised to see you entered Alessia’s office. But that’s not what shocked
me.” Siena took a huge bite of her blueberry muffin.”
“What?”
“Looks like your cat just died in a freaking hit and run.”
Serenity flinched. “You’re gross. Poor thing. Not a cat, please.”
“What’s going on? I was expecting you to come back with rosy cheeks, limping. You didn’t taste a
Caprean? I thought they’re all tall with broad chest, wide shoulders, and beefy.”
Oh, I just tasted a big cock alright and not just an ordinary cock, but a freaking prince cock.
“Did your plane even land?” Serenity asked.
“Yeah. I stayed in a manor. I also attended a charity ball.”
“Wow!”
“Who invited you?”
“It’s all arranged by Alessia.”
“So who’s your subject?” Siena asked.
They paused and waited for my answer.
I swallowed the bile rising in my throat. “Prince of Guardion.”
“Oh, my God!” Serenity gushed. “Is it true he’s getting married?”
“Yeah.”
“What’s wrong, Ken? You’re not usually this quiet and brooding?” Siena pressed.
Because I’m in love and the same time, brokenhearted.
“Did someone harass you in Triberis?”
“No. It was quite an experience.” If you only knew how many times I’d orgasmed that night, I’d lost
count. That man had quite an appetite and was insatiable, taking me over and over again.
“So tell me about the Prince.” Siena was more interested in the gossip, but I just signed a tight-lock
NDAs.
“What did Alessia tell you?” Serenity asked.
“I won’t write the article.”
“So you won’t get the promotion?” Her fiery red eyebrow arched.
“No.”
“But why? You traveled all the way there, and you still won’t be promoted? Don’t you think that’s
unfair?” Siena looked at Serenity, and they had the same reaction.
“Maybe I just resign and look for another job or travel around the world. I don’t know.” I looked away.
My life and my career were in trouble because I took the risk and played with fire.
“You never just decided like that, Ken. We know you. If it’s because of Raoul, that dick doesn’t deserve
a frown on your forehead.”
“This has nothing to do with him, Siena. Maybe I just need a long sleep. When I wake up the next day,
my head is clear as the sky.” I rose from the chair. “I have to go, guys. Your break is over. Tell Faith I
said hi.”
“Call us if you need drink buddies.”
I smiled even if my chest was heavier than the loaded truck. Serenity would be my drink buddy? No
way. She was more likely to just watch me as I got wasted. “I will.”
“When is your roommate coming to visit?” God, why did Siena have to ask about him when I was trying
to ignore the fact of not seeing him again?
“I don’t know.”

I stared at the bottle of red wine I took from the ref an hour ago. That was how long I was just sitting
there, obsessing and fighting the urge of researching Prince Thayer online.
It was ridiculous, but I couldn’t fuck him while he was engaged to someone else. I wouldn’t stoop that
down. There were a lot of dicks in America that could satisfy me just fine.
At the corner of my head, but that’s a prince’s dick. I was obsessing over him again, and I knew it was
not healthy.
“Damn you.” I unscrewed the wine and poured a half-full to the glass.
I missed him terribly. I sipped the wine, and the sip turned to a chug until I emptied the glass till its last
drop.
I never got drunk with a little amount of wine, but I felt suddenly dizzy. I stared at the wine. Something
was not right.
My lids were so heavy I could barely open my eyes. Even if I tried to stay awake, my body was dormant
until I lost balance.
“There you go, love.”
