Chapter 19
Feng Lei’s P. O. V
Placing the tray on the table I take my seat, grabbing the steam bun I take a bite of it, a smile makes it’s way on my lips in the process of chewing when I think about Wan Ke.
He is really interesting
I decided to get close to him to know more about him to find out why he is after the death of Duke WenLing and others. That moment when I told him that I know who he is I was not completely sure about it but when I covered his mouth behind the tree I was hundred percent sure it’s him. It was the same eyes which holds many stories , my lips formed into a smile at that moment without my realisation in the thought of finding the person behind the mask.
I asked someone to research about him but there isn’t much information about him which others know, the main thing was that most of the citizens have no idea that he is the fifth prince as they haven’t seen him. He really is good at maintaining a low profile, I should ask some people close to him or I should ask him itself to dig into his information.
I push my thoughts behind my mind when the sound of tray landing on the wooden table disturbs my mind, placing the steam bun on the tray I look straight to meet the pair of eyes which I have been thinking about a few minutes back.
“Lost in thoughts?,” He asks looking at me while taking a big bite of the steam bun and he bends low and fills his spoon with the soup and drinks that too.
“Nothing,” removing my gaze from him I look down as I lift the bowl of soup with my left and the spoon with my right.
The vibe between us turns silence where the chattering of our classmates are working in our ears. After a long moment of silence he places the spoon in the empty bowl which made the sound of the clinging and hits his hand on the table, he leans forward his eyes looking straight into mine while I stare at him curiously with furrowed eyebrows.
“I just.. I’m sor…,” He rubs the back of his neck nervously, biting his lower lip he looks back at me while I’m drinking the soup giving him glances when he looks away. Leaning a little more forward he clears his throat “I’m sorry about what happened yesterday,” he says in a split second and sits back staring at me waiting for a reply.
Pausing my actions of where the spoon is at the edge of my lips I move my eyeballs up “Oh…,” I continue drinking the soup.
He stares at me pushing the right side of his cheek with his tongue “It was an accident,” he speaks out abruptly like how a literature teacher would explain a scene, moving the bowl low I fix my eyes on him watching his every single movement of hands and head “I was pushed from behind and I couldn’t balance that was why I fell over you and our,” biting his lower lip he states low as a whisper “lips crashed.”
“It’s not a big deal,” Replying dryly I continue to drink the soup which hasn’t been finished yet as I’m distracted again.
“Really,” he leans back and relaxes his shoulders letting out a loud sigh of relief “I just thought that you misunderstood,” he laughs out softly showing awkwardness.
“Is it?,” Placing the bowl on the table I pick up the steam bun “Why are you so concerned about it, like as if you are a girl,” I take a bite of my bun and pause the motion of chewing watching Wan Ke who stops moving like a statue his eyes never leaving mine and his lips in a form of a lazy smile as he paused his laugh instantly after I’m done speaking.
“Do.. I,” he lets out a sarcastic smile and rests his elbow on the table and places his chin on the back of his palm “Do I look like a girl,” he questions raising his eyebrows.
“As I told earlier I would say that the word pretty suits well on your appearance,” I continue eating while he stares at an empty space thinking something.
He is known to be handsome by all but when we take a closer picture of him he looks kind of pretty and I’m sure that if he is a girl he will definitely be a beautiful lady but for his character it is far away from being beautiful and a girl especially.
Furrowing his fine eyebrows he gazes back at me when I swallow down the last piece of the bun.
“Then it doesn’t matter if you kiss a boy?”
Was he thinking that question for all this while
“Not as that, it’s just that I have no need to held responsibility,”
“What?,” He moves his head back the sides of the lips going downwards “Your logic sucks,” he sneers.
“Look.. look who we got here,”
We both turn to our left seeing Cheng Li strolling towards us passing the crowd. He stands next to our table and looks down at me and then at WanKe and back at me “I thought you are very good at observing and reading people,” he crosses his arms over his chest and passes a glance at WanKe with curled up eyebrows “You made up with him out of all the people,” he pulls up his shoulders pointing Wanke with his index finger on his right arm.
Cheng Lie and I’ve known each other for a long time since the time my sister and Ms Cheng got too close. I always surround myself with less people as I judge people way too early and my judgement has never gone wrong, this was one of the reason why I’m not close to ChengLi. My family members always worry about me of having less friends but I feel better this way as being around some kind of stupid people is awful than being alone. My mom is troubled too much about my character thinking about my wedding, she always says that no one would marry me even with my handsome face.
“You know why,” WanKe scoffs which makes Cheng Li to turn towards the left and face him, keeping a step forward he brings up his left foot and places on the edge of Wanke’s seat and leans forward and all this while Wanke was just waiting calmly watching him.
He really is someone interesting
“It’s because I’m better than you,” his lips forms into a smirk when Cheng Li’s expression changes.
It is a good show to watch Cheng Li being humiliated as he has always been a big head and a bully.
“Keke,” Hen Yu calls out standing by the entrance and the sound of the bell captures the environment disturbing the drama I’m watching.
“Leave way,” he pushes his leg away and walks away waving at HenYu. Wanke’s P. O. V
We all are standing in a horizontal line waiting till Master Ling instructs us. After doing all the warm up he chooses five students and asks them to step forward.
“A race,” Master Ling announces walking behind the students who stood in front their feet behind the line marked.
“Race,” I repeat after him in a low voice like almost telling it to myself.
“What’s wrong?,” Henyu asks hearing me, he leans over his shoulder to the left “Is it Feng Lei,” he questions amusingly he budges me by his shoulder “hey,” he calls out softly as I gave no reply.Ccontent © exclusive by Nô/vel(D)ra/ma.Org.
“You know?,” I turn to my right facing him “I’m not good at running,” I inform with a smile casually but watching his expression made me feel like I’m useless, his eyes gone wide and his jaw dropped on the ground.
“Why do you give me that look?,” I pass him a deathly glare warning him not to humiliate me
Running is something which I suck at to be honest… It’s really going to be embarrassing if I run slower than the others.
“I’m just..,”he looks away and stares straight looking at the five classmates challenging each other, after a while he faces me again with the same expression “How can you be bad in running after having all those skills,” his question comes out as a whisper.
Why is he overreacting, however every human being is bad at something right not all are perfect and I’m bad in running.
It’s nothing to be astonished to an extent that words cannot be formed.
“You are overreacting,” I grit my teeth and fix my eyes on the students standing before the line.
“I… I..,”
“You what,” I whisper yell at him my eyes never leaving the others.
“I did a bet,”
“What?,” My voice comes out loud which makes everyone to look at me.
“Wanke! You are next,” Master Ling announces which makes me to mentally slap myself.
His bet is going to end bad for sure.
