Dalores was typing so fast that Eileen failed to catch a single word before the message was sent.

But Dalores immediately received a notification that the message had failed to be sent because Julio had unfriended her.

She stared at her phone in stunned silence before bursting into tears.

The phone slipped from her hand as sobs wracked her body.

Dalores’ crying woke Emerson up.

The boy let out a loud cry of his own, and Eileen quickly scooped Emerson into her arms and tried to soothe him. But it wasn’t working.

After a while, Eileen gave up and called the caregiver over to take Emerson outside and calm him down. Then, she walked back to Dalores and said, “If you really want to tell him, I can call him over right now.”

“What’s the point? He has unfriended me. He has practically abandoned me! Even if he finds out about Emerson’s existence, I doubt he would want to save him. He wouldn’t care about Emerson at all!” Dalores wailed and continued to weep.

Eileen tried to comfort Dalores, but Dalores only shook her head and cried harder.

In the end, Dalores fainted and fell to the floor. Eileen immediately called for the doctor, and Dalores was rushed to the emergency room.

Eileen sat on a bench in the hallway and waited. Before long, Bryan approached her with her examination report.

“What happened?” he asked as he sat down beside her and tucked a strand of her hair behind her ears.

Eileen considered herself a fairly rational person, but after what had happened, she felt her mind was a mess. She clasped Bryan’s hand. “I think there’s something wrong with Dalores. She’s in a terrible mood.” The words “postpartum depression” and “anxiety” flashed through her mind.

Bryan glanced over at the door of the emergency room. “We’ll find out what’s going on once the doctor comes out. Just calm down for now, okay? If she’s in trouble, we’ll do everything we can to help her. But if she’s going through a mental crisis, we can only entrust her to professionals.”

Eileen took a deep breath and said nothing. Deep down, she prayed that Dalores would be fine.

If something was really wrong and Dalores needed prolonged treatment, she would have no choice but to tell Julio about Emerson, letting Julio deal with the matter.

The doctor finally emerged half an hour later.

“The patient fainted due to severe emotional distress, but she is not in any danger. However, I am concerned about her mental state. My advice is that she see a psychologist once she regains consciousness,” the doctor said.

Eileen heaved a sigh of relief. “I see. Thank you, doctor. If it’s all right, please arrange for a psychologist to examine her.”

The doctor agreed and then proceeded to arrange for a ward to accommodate Dalores. He chose a room in the building next to the in-patient department.
