“Mr. Dawson claimed to have analyzed the three blood samples and found the cancer gene in each one. He thinks the samples belong to all three of us! Wait, since your blood contains the cancer gene, mine probably does too!” Jessica became anxious. “I’m going to schedule a medical checkup to verify this for myself!”

Jessica abruptly ended the call before Conroy could respond.

She immediately scheduled a full-body checkup for both herself and Conroy, and he had no chance to refuse. They would go to the hospital the next morning.

Later that evening, as Eileen emerged from the bathroom and approached the bed, Bryan suddenly wrapped his arms around her waist, causing a sharp pain that made her gasp in discomfort.

“What’s wrong?” he asked, letting go immediately.

Eileen lifted the hem of her dress, revealing the bruise on her waist.

“I got hurt by accident today,” she said, quickly filling him in on what had happened at the hospital.

Bryan turned on the lamp beside the bed. After examining the bruise, he retrieved some ointment from downstairs and applied it gently to the area. He then used his palms to massage Eileen’s waist until the discomfort eased.

“This is all your fault. You were too rough last night. That’s why I was too weak to catch myself when I fell. You said two hours was enough, but you didn’t stop there. You kept going for almost half the night!” Eileen complained, lying on her stomach.

“You told me to have a time limit,” Bryan replied with a serious face. “I said two hours. But you didn’t tell me how to do it just one time.”

Bryan was a master at finding and exploiting even the tiniest weakness to get what he wanted. How could she possibly be his match?

“People get to rest even when they’re working,” Eileen grumbled. “But I have to ‘serve’ you every day without rest.”

Bryan responded, “There are twenty-four hours in a day, and typically, one works for eight hours. You’ve never served me for eight hours. Moreover, you can rest at least seven days a month during your period. If you want to compare this to a job, you need to put in more effort.”

“You want to exhaust me to death, don’t you?” Eileen grasped his wrist, lay down, and pressed her foot against his chest. “From now on, I’m taking Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays off, while you get Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays off. We’ll only do it on Sundays!”

“I don’t need to rest.” Bryan’s hand closed around her ankle, and as he took in her disheveled attire, his desire burned.

But then, he suddenly remembered her waist was still injured.

He frowned, let go of her ankle, and tucked her in.
