Chapter 7
“Are you alright?” Emerose asked worriedly. They were in Jace’s office, and she wondered why the man was not saying anything. She had been talking for quite a while, and she hadn’t received any reaction from him.
“I’m thinking about business,” Jace replied, annoyed. “Why are you here again?” He asked. Young Higginson was busy thinking about his wife when his assistant Nolan informed him about the woman’s arrival.
“You have been married to Emerald for six months now, and she has been humiliated and has suffered severely. Are you not going to divorce her yet?” Emerose asked. “Please don’t take it the wrong way. I felt pity for her since she’s my younger sister, and I think she had suffered enough.” She added when she saw Jace crease his forehead while glaring at her. She doesn’t feel pity for Emerald; she only wants to appear as if she cares about her little sister.
“I’ll divorce her when I want to. No one dictates what I do,” Jace replied, making Emerose have her head down. She’s thinking of igniting his anger so he will divorce Emerald already and continue her plan of seducing him.
They had been together often, almost all the time, because she always visited his office. But Jace never touched her intimately, even once.Published by Nôv'elD/rama.Org.
Emerose noticed that Jace was sweet to her whenever they were in front of Emerald, which she took advantage of. She knew that he was doing it to humiliate her little sister, and she was happy about it. Seeing how much suffering the young Morgan had been through in their marriage, the eldest was the happiest, thinking she was better.
“I’m sorry. I just want this to end. I sometimes feel sorry for my little sister,” she said sadly. Jace, on the other hand, thought she was sincere and scoffed.
“You don’t need to feel sorry for her because she’s nothing but a slut and a whore.” Jace replied angrily. Emerose didn’t know why young Higginson thought that way about her little sister, knowing Emerald had never been in any relationship. She was curious where his anger came from. But the eldest Morgan shrugged her shoulders since she was the one who was taking advantage of the situation.
Emerose liked Jace. The moment she set her eyes on the young Higginson and saw him in a magazine interview, she wanted to get close to him. But Jace was aloof, and no ordinary woman could approach him. She also knew that he had bedded many women, and she wanted to become one of them and eventually seduce him and fall in love with her. “And don’t come here if there’s nothing important. I didn’t want to be disturbed during working hours, and I didn’t want my employees to think you are special to me because you’re not.” Jace added, making Emerose angry. But she hides that from him. Instead, she smiled and said,
“Just don’t make my little sister suffer so much. After all, she’s my family.” She got up from her seat and left his office. Unknown to Jace, she was furious that he didn’t want to give her a chance to be close to him. But despite that, Emerose was determined to get him by hook or by crook.
In the past six months of their marriage, Jace brings different women to their mansion. He was showing Emerald that she was nothing to him. He made sure that his wife would see his infidelity, making his wife see her unworthiness.
“What are you doing, Jace?” Emerald asked, “You had been doing this ever since. What did I do to deserve this?” she added, confused and hurt.
“You dare talk to me like that? You have no right to question me, Emerald! I am not giving you any rights in this house, you get that?” Jace raised his hand and was about to slap his wife but stopped. He had never hurt any woman physically, and seeing how his wife’s eyes widened, he knew that she feared him. “Never question me again, or you’ll get what you deserve,” he added before he turned his back to her and went to the living room, where the woman he brought was waiting before they went to his bedroom.
Emerald is very hurt because of what her husband is doing, but she knows in herself that there is nothing she can do about it. For the past few months, she has been asking him for help with her nanny’s medication because her father doesn’t want to give her money anymore. Since she had no one to turn to, she tried to go to Jace, which surprised her because he agreed immediately. Now, she realized why. That is so that she has nothing else to do but follow everything he wants. She was left in the kitchen in tears, thinking she couldn’t stop Jace from what he was doing in his bedroom.
As Jace wanted, she gave her husband a blowjob every morning. She knew he liked it and was ready to do everything for her husband because she loved him. But Emerald can’t help but feel sorry for herself because she feels she is a low-class woman because of how her husband treats her. She couldn’t think of any reason for Jace to do that to her, especially since they hadn’t met in person except when he went to their mansion and chose her as his wife.
The next day, Emerald was scheduled to go to the grocery store. After buying everything she needed, she went to a cafe nearby and met Dr. Sanders. They became good friends and often met whenever she left their mansion. With him, she could be who she really was-a funny and gullible person. “Emerald, I hope you don’t mind my asking.”
“Go ahead,” Young Morgan said, encouraging the doctor to ask her anything.
“Why don’t you go to school and earn a degree? Just by looking, I know that you’re smart.”
“I already graduated.” Dr. Sanders was shocked with her reply.
“Then why are you letting your husband do that to you? I mean, he’s taking you for granted and might be worse.”
“He’s supporting my nanny’s medication.”
“You can do it if you have a job.”
“Jace didn’t want me to work. And I’m still hoping that one day, he would realize that he was wrong and eventually love me if he knew me better.”
“You’re hoping for a miracle.” Dr. Sanders replied, “I didn’t want to offend you, but that’s how I see your situation. Your husband does everything he wants while you devote yourself to him, but he doesn’t appreciate it.” The doctor had been falling for Emerald without him knowing. At first, he thought he only wanted to be friends with her. But as their friendship grows, his feelings for her grow as well. Something he couldn’t stop and was unwilling to stop either.
Dr. Sanders saw Emerald as the most elegant and decent woman. She was shy and naive. The doctor thinks that she doesn’t even know that she is beautiful, making him wonder whether she sees it or not. Thinking Jace was a womanizer, Dr. Sanders felt that he should be able to appreciate Emerald’s beauty.
The two continued chatting, unaware of the eyes that were watching them. With a wicked smile, Emerose took out her phone and took their pictures. She feels victorious that Jace would finally divorce her little sister with the evidence that she would be showing him. ‘Let’s see what will happen to you, little sister.’ she thought and gave the two one last look before she went to her car and drove away.
