Sweet Wife in Hidden Marriage

Chapter 39 I’ll do You Another Favor

Chapter 39 I’ll do You Another Favor

Lillian looked pale, and it might be because she had just argued with Sebastian. She shook her head and managed a smile. "I’m fine."

Stephen watched Lillian very carefully in a highly professional way. When he made sure that she was indeed fine, he helped her into the car. Stephen didn’t ask what Sebastian had said to her since he couldn’t care less about it. The only thing he cared about was Lillian’s well-being.

Lillian met Dawson as agreed. Although it was a private settlement, she had to keep her appointment in company with the lawyer.

Lillian had believed that in this lawsuit, since the radio station, the plaintiff, had ended up being sentenced to compensate for her loss, the radio station would make difficulties for her privately even if it had agreed to settle the case out of court.

But that was not the case. Dawson received her very friendly. He didn’t mention anything about her breaking the contract, nor did he mention the contractual penalty. Instead, he was very willing to accept the verdict and pay the compensation to Lillian.

Dawson even added that her programme wouldn’t be scheduled for midnight anymore. Lillian would host a tourism programme from 3 to 4 pm, where she would recommend good places to eat and play to the listeners.

The radio station didn’t call her to account for appearing on the tv show either. Dawson only asked her not to sign any contract with the tv station during the period of her contract with the radio station.

Lillian did the tv show inadvertently. It was out of the fat salary that she did that show. As for other shows, Lillian didn’t intend to do any of them, so she accept this request of Dawson’s.

At last, Dawson sent her out of the office very kindly, saying that he hoped they could have a friendly cooperation in the future.

Lillian was still in a trance after going away from Dawson’s office. She stared at Lawyer Bennett beside her and asked doubtfully, "Was it because of your appearance that Dawson didn’t give me a hard time?"

Lawyer Bennett shrugged. "Could be." Well, he wasn’t indeed some modest lawyer.

Stephen patted Lillian on the shoulder. "Since the problem is solved smoothly, what’s the worry?"

"I find it weird that the problem is solved too smoothly." Lillian wondered if she had had some blind luck. NôvelDrama.Org owns all © content.

Lawyer Bennett aside looked at the frowning Lillian, and something flashed across his eyes.

Since she had won the case, received compensation accidentally and resolved the conflict with the radio station, Lillian was in a good mood, so she invited Lawyer Bennett to dinner with Stephen.

In the Cantonese restaurant, the moment the two handsome and tall gentlemen, one best lawyer and one refined doctor, walked in, everybody’s attention was attracted by their magnetic aura.

"Suddenly I feel that my existence is redundant around you two," Lillian could feel those piercing eyes, taunting herself.

The media had long reported Lillian’s lawsuit, and the crowd recognized them after a while. The whole restaurant was seething instantly. Of course, it was mostly because Lawyer Bennett and Stephen were popular among people.

"Then let’s eat in the private room," Stephen suggested.

The three of them sat down in the private room. When the dishes were served, the two men opened a bottle of wine. Lillian also wanted to drink, but was stopped by Stephen. Since it was hard liquor, Lillian would fall over if she drank more than two glasses.

When they were halfway through their meal, Stephen’s phone rang. It turned out that it was the hospital urging him to go back to treat the patients.

It was embarrassing for Stephen to leave halfway, but Lillian said with a smile, "Since your profession is so divine and great, go and rescue the dying. I’ll buy you a meal next time."

Lawyer Bennett added, "Lillian is right. Don’t worry. I’ll finish off the rest of the wine." He raised the wine glass specially as he spoke.

Hearing that, Stephen smiled, and entrusted Lawyer Bennett sincerely, "Please send her back home later."

Lawyer Bennett glanced at Lillian and then met Stephen’s eyes. "It’s a man’s duty to send a lady home. Go and treat your patients."

"Don’t worry about me. I’m an adult, and how can’t I send myself home?" Lillian urged Stephen to leave quickly.

"Many thanks to you, Lawyer Bennett." It was after Stephen expressed his thanks that he grabbed the suit hung on the clothes tree and walked out of the private room with an easy mind.

Once Stephen left, Lillian let out a a sigh and stared at that bottle of wine they had been drinking. "Lawyer Bennett, I want to drink a toast to you. I’m grateful that you helped me win the case."

"It’s my duty to help my client win the case, and you don’t have to make excuses to drink." A smirk lifted Lawyer Bennett’s lips.

Her charade had been seen through instantly, so it was better for Lillian to be honest before Lawyer Bennett. She smiled wryly, "It’s a joyous occasion today, isn’t it? And it’s disappointing not to drink on such occasion. You’re a lawyer, not a doctor, so don’t stop me." Her hand was already holding the wine bottle and drew it closer to her.

Lawyer Bennett didn’t stop her, but reminded, "It’s quite potent. Don’t get drunk, or I’ll have difficulty sending you home."

"It’ll be alright. What’s wrong with having a drink or two?" 'Don’t make a fuss here. It’s hard to have a good day like this, and it’s a buzz-kill not to drink.'

At last, Lawyer Bennett shook his head helplessly with a wine glass in his hand, watching the stoned woman next to him bending over the table mumbling to herself with a bright red face.

If Lillian had known that the liquor contained 70% alcohol, she would definitely have sworn Lawyer Bennett quietly. Why hadn’t he told her such important information? And she should have drunk three glasses recklessly!

Lawyer Bennett took out his phone and made a call. When he got through, he said in an extremely relaxed tone, his eyes fixing on the drunk woman, "Archibald, how about I do you another favor?"

Once Archibald walked into the private room, he saw Lillian bending over the table, her face blushing in an adorable way. How come this woman was drunk like this?

"I’ve already asked the waitress to feed her some honey water," Lawyer Bennett said.

"Thanks." Judging from the tone, Archibald was close to Lawyer Bennett. At least, he was not treating him politely like a stranger.

Archibald picked up the wine bottle on the table and saw the alcohol content with a brief glimpse. He couldn’t help frowning and asked, "How much did she drink?"

"Three glasses."

"Why didn’t you stop her? You allowed her to drink three glasses of liquor!" Archibald frowned, slightly angry.

"Don’t blame the good guy here wrongly. She insisted on drinking herself." Lawyer Bennett smiled meaningfully, watching Archibald taking off his suit, draping it over Lillian and scooping her up directly.

Archibald didn’t cast another glance at Lawyer Bennett. If he were a good guy, there would be no bad guy in this world!

Seeing that Archibald was leaving with Lillian, Lawyer Bennett said unhurriedly, "Don’t forget that you owe me a favor this time."

"Only if I take it as a favor." Archibald walked outside with Lillian in his arms without looking back.

"What a cunning fox!" Although he was cursing, there was a faint smile on Lawyer Bennett’s face, and his expression looked very much alike his comment on Archibald.

Outside the restaurant parked a white Spyker C8. It was not an eye-catching or dazzling color, but the car was full of personality and power by simply parking there.

It was Archibald’s private car, and he would drive it when going out alone.

Archibald put Lillian on the backseat and fastened the safety belt for her. At this moment, Lillian stirred. She took his chiseled face in her hands and mumbled, "Who are you?"

Propping himself up on one arm against the seat back, Archibald let her cup his face, his slanted eyes gleaming charmingly. He curled his lips into a wicked smirk. "Your husband."
