Chapter 1726
Seeing the doctor hesitate for a moment, Felicity totally understood. After all, this was the Lopez family's private physician. She was probably worried about being held responsible if anything went wrong-which, honestly, made perfect sense.
So Felicity jumped in quickly, "Hey, don't worry. If anything happens, I'll take full responsibility. I promise, you won't get dragged into it."
The doctor waved her off with a smile. "Thanks for understanding. Alright, I'll do as you say. The results won't take long. I'll take your blood sample and head back to my office. Give me about half an hour, and I'll text you."
"Great!" Felicity nodded, rolled up her sleeve, and let the doctor draw her blood without any fuss.
Just as they finished, Miles Lopez and Dorothy Sanchez walked in.
Miles frowned. "You really don't look great, Felicity. Maybe you should get checked out at the hospital. Did you tell your folks?"
Felicity shook her head. "No. Please don't tell my parents, okay? They'd just worry, and it's really not a big deal. Honestly, I've always been a little on the frail side. Any minor thing and it looks like I'm seriously ill."
Dorothy smiled, shaking her head. "You've grown up so much, you know that? When did you learn to hide being sick just so your parents wouldn't worry?" Her eyes softened. "But listen, being thoughtful is great and all, but you still need to look after yourself! If you don't take care of your health, your parents will have way more to worry about down the line."
"I know, I know," Felicity replied, managing a small smile.
Dorothy gave her a gentle wave. "Alright, I just stopped by to check on you. Langston, you take good care of Felicity, okay? I'll head out now."
"I'll walk you out," Miles offered.
"No need," Dorothy said, waving him off. "You stay here with Felicity."
She left the room, and just as she got to her car, her phone rang. It was Everett Lopez.
"Not at the office?" Everett asked.
Dorothy paused, immediately picking up on his tone. "Did you go by the office looking for me?"
Everett sounded evasive, "When will you be back?"
Dorothy started her car, put the call
on speaker and pulled onto the road. "I'm on my way back now. Felicity wasn't feeling well, so I went to check on her. Honestly... she's showing some signs of being pregnant, but I didn't want to say anything just yet."
Everyone knew about Felicity's health issues.
"Don't worry about the kid," Everett replied. "Just come back to the office."
Dorothy frowned. That sounded... odd. "Is something up?"
"You'll see when you get here."
Dorothy raised an eyebrow, puzzled. Why so mysterious? She hung up, curiosity growing, and headed back to the office.
As soon as she pulled into the parking lot, she noticed something strange. Her usual parking space was completely covered in red roses!
Dorothy parked across the lane, got out, and walked over for a closer look. Rightnoveldrama
in the middle of all those roses, pink ones spelled out a number:
0825.
She quickly pulled out her phone and checked the date.
Oh my God. How could she have forgotten what day it was?
A voice sounded behind her, deep, a little gruff, and definitely sulking. "So I guess
I'm not that important to you anymore, huh?"
Dorothy turned to see Everett
standing there, looking at her with mock indignation. She couldn't help but laugh. "Hey, it's not like I did it on purpose! Langston and Felicity had something going on-"
"You left the house this morning and didn't even notice," Everett said, coming closer, his eyes glinting with playful accusation. "Five years ago, you forgot once. Last year, too. And now-again!"
Dorothy grinned, a little sheepish, and shrugged. "Maybe I'm just getting old?"
What do you think?
